magic find really help holo wings drop?
No , RNG is just that RNG. You may get one next year or you may get one next minute..its like trying to figure how many licks it takes to get to the chocolately center of a Tootsie Roll pop..THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW
if that is the case wouldn’t it stand to reason rng would eventually net you one of the event items from any of the events and not none from them all?
I really wanted a south sun skin and everyone around me got them except me. i had like 400% MF while they were running just the normal 200%
I guess (one cannot ever be too sure) that you’re talking about opening the chests in order to get a ticket, if that’s the case then please be aware that magic find does not influence the drop from world chests, inventory chests and the like, only monster’s drop is.
Na while getting a ticket would be great I didn’t really expect one my random drop chance seems to be way to low for something like that. I was really trying to get just one wing to drop with as much magic find as I could possible get but it doesn’t seem to help.
No i mean even getting the crates, i farmed for the ENTIRE event and got 5 crates total
MF gives you more crates from farming, but it does not increase the quality of the loot the boxes itself drop. It should also increase the chances of getting a wing drop from a mob, but since that chance is quite low, it’s fairly possible you still never get one.
You know, if you use 5 lottery tickets and your friend wins by using just 1, well it’s not that weird.

Yep, wings are obtanaible through monster’s drop (just checked to be sure, I was almost certain it didn’t), but the drop chance is quite low… Magic Find WILL help you, but not that much: In the end it will be the RNG will give you the wings (still, if you really want to farm down hordes of monster to get it I would suggest you to run a full MF gear, at least it will give you even more chests wich will be more shots to tickets, wings and mini pets).

The southsun’s ones? Those had quite a low drop chance (and MF just gives you better odds, not a guaranteed drop, sadly… Bad luck still strikes like a train)…
I personally haven’t farmed that much, but I was still able to get up to 10 crates (I was running with a bonus of 350%-430% MF), so it really depends on your personal luck after all.
That’s the funny part I am running max mf gear and the gem store mf booster and the larels magic find booster and max mf food. As for the lottery analogy; I cant see it since they got quite a few wing drops that would be the same as them winning multiple lotteries with 1 ticket. I figured the reason they got so many holo wings was because the drop rate on them really wasn’t so bad and it was just my random drop rate that was bad or just my same bad luck as always.
Think about it this way: if there’s like a 0.1% (1 out of 1000) chance to loot the wings, having 300% MF gives you 0.3% chance. You wouldn’t see a difference unless you killed thousands and thousands of mobs.

It’s just luck. Each time a person with no mf loots a mob, it’s essentially 1 lottery ticket. If a person with 200% mf loots a mob, that’s 3 lottery tickets.

I guess that makes sense, but if the drop rate is really that low the people that get 3-4 wing drops in one day is all that same luck factor and it was that way wouldn’t it make more sense for them to get 1 and someone else get 1 not one person gets 4 rest get 0?
Everytime someone loot a monster (or kill it, I don’t know when it kicks in) a reward is selected from a drop table, it is not influenced by what you previously dropped or what someone else is finding.
Really, that’s just that: Randomness.
You MAY find true, as some people says, that there are “good rng” days and “bad rng” ones, that’s just because usually in a computer program a random number is not always such… As far as I’ve been told (never looked at it) usually a random number generator tends to select some numbers more than others, so some days you may be in a good rng where you find a lot of precious loot and others where you just get trash.

If that were the case id be completely ok with that, but when every day and every event you fail to get the items that can only be obtained by luck it stops being rng and just turns to make people wonder if they in fact have any luck but bad. I don’t know I really like gw2 its a fun game and that’s what I play it for. Sure I don’t need these event skins but that’s why I play the game fun; I am not in the game to farm or make money I am not interested in these items to sell on tp I go in with the goal of just getting one for myself and then stop. Have not got one event item drop from any event and the non stop farm to try and fail is sort of ruining the reason I play the game; defeats the fun part that I enjoy so much. Take this dragon bash for example there are many fun things to do but im stuck killing mobs to try to get lucky drops which are not kind to most people so I hear; don’t get me wrong some people are really lucky and that’s great but I would much rather work hard for something and be proud of my achievement then luck into it, probably because I have no luck lol. I would get the candy for the wings but 100,000 is way to much farming and I would probably not want to play after that much pointless time spent if it was possible; and before you say it yes I know you can buy them, but you are just paying the people who get 5-10 of tkitteny luck and some people play the game for fun and don’t go into it looking to earn a lot of money. Sorry I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but that’s just the way I view it rather hard work pay off than luck. Still working hard to find that one drop so I can enjoy the rest of this event. Gz to all those that got what you want good luck to those that haven’t.
Have fun!
I never said that I approve this thing, I just explained how it works.
I do think that rather than rng based chests and mob grinding there should be a way to get everything by playing the game, and I’m not saying like the achievement (wich is fine for a “final” reward, not for everything), those are almost easy, I’m talking about something like a mission progression (you know, something like the personal story: Do x mission, complete the sub story and earn a ticket, for example).
The whole rng chests has always been something wich bugged me… I can understand that they need to make money out of it, but that’s just not right:
If I pay gems (be it through using real money or by converting TONS of gold into it) I’d like to be sure to get what I want, Anet seems like partly listened to the gamers’ plea, but in my opinion they could still improve the system.
Now, there are people who like to gamble in order to get what they want, that’s fair, I just can’t understand why they can’t implement a system where those who want to be sure to get the reward withough gambling can while those who like to gamble should be able to.
THAT’s what I think about the whole question and that’s MY opinion, so it may be not right or sharable, and so it should be.
Whenever a similar system will be implemented it will be better to me, but until then I’ll just try to adapt to the system wich will come (rest assured I won’t waste gems on gambling, though).
Now, after such a wall of text, did you ever thought about getting some fine materials (you run with a full MF set, it shouldn’t be a problem), selling them on the TP and using the money to buy the wings? They’re quite cheap as far as I know.
That’s not a bad idea I like rewarding those with luck with rng and those without luck with something that can be attained through hard work. On the mat side I don’t find my mats to be that great with high mf either; I don’t know why I keep trying to move to different areas to avoid dr but doesn’t seem to work. Last I checked they were around 20 gold which isn’t bad I guess if you got the gold but still like to try to get drops myself rather than having to farm the gold any pay someone else. Just personal preference guess i don’t really buy or sell anything on tp like have my gear show the work i have done not what i have bought, if that makes any sense. Still the idea about rewarding people with luck with rng and those w/o with some sort of ticket system or hard work sounds like would make both those with and without luck happy.
