I apologize in advance for the tardiness of this post, but it MUST be said. I don’t get on the forums very often.

Regarding the previous living story update, the origins of madness, would someone please tell me why Rytlock and Logan had no idea who I was when I interacted with them in the instance in Lion’s Arch? The instance where Kasmeer tells us about her teddy bear and how Brahm is babysitting Taimi and how Rox is THIS CLOSE to joining the Stone warband, is the instance I’m referring to.

I get that not all of the player’s characters have finished personal story (which I did on that specific character), and I get that you guys are trying to tell a story that doesn’t really involve Destiny’s Edge, but if you’re going to involve the player and members of Destiny’s Edge, at least take the time to give them proper dialogue.

Rytlock, Logan and I, among others, destroyed Zhaitan (in a very lackluster final fight, I might add, but still!) and the interaction text was something along the lines of “Aren’t you Rytlock Brimstone?> Yeah, who the skritt are you?”

Very nice of you to completely detach the player from Destiny’s Edge and the destruction of Zhaitan. We all know that Zhaitan was a massive disappointment, but come on, own up to it! Don’t sweep it under the rug!

It’s like I’ve mentioned before in other places, It’s as if the elder dragons don’t even exist! Dragon Bash passed them off as a joke, and we haven’t done a single thing against the elder dragons since Zhaitan. Jormag keeps regrowing his claws every 3 hours, Tequatl is indestructible compared to Zhaitan, and Kralkatorrik keeps coughing in Ascalon’s general direction after the Shatterer explodes in the sky, but Kralkatorrik NEVER flies back up from the Crystal Desert saying “Forget this, I’ll deal with you myself.”

PLEASE, for the love of Melandru, let us put Scarlet (and ourselves) out of her misery by hitting her with my 20k eviscerates so we can ‘wake up’ a few days after destroying Zhaitan and remember “Oh yeah, Jormag/Kralkatorrik/Primordus/Mordremoth/Bubbles are still mad at us. I must destroy them next”.

Also, don’t you even dare do a cop out by having Scarlet killed/destroyed/taken-to-another-dimension-from-which-she-can-never-return by anything other than the player. Also, don’t make her suddenly become ‘one of the good guys’.

No more Scarlet, no more Aetherblades, no more Molten/Toxic alliances. Just. Elder. Dragons. Maybe a brief detour between each dragon so you guys don’t run out of content to give us, but not a distraction that is over a year in length. Most of these distractions weren’t even permanent content

To be fair unless you are a human or Charr you wouldn’t really have had much contact with them before. You are basically one of those countless faceless heroes that helped in the battle of Orr in their eyes. The main contact with DE is after all in the story mode dungeons, rather than the Personal Story.

Oh no you dont… don’t even try to undermine the player like that.

The fact remains that Destiny’s Edge would not have gotten back together without the player. The player is the Commander of the forces that invaded Orr. You can’t say that the player is ‘just another face’ in the fight against the Orrians. Human, Charr, Sylvari, Asura, or Norn, it doesn’t matter; the player is the central part to everything. For the writers to completely write off the player makes writers look bad and it is just blatant disrespect to the players, especially when you consider that one of GW2’s selling points whats the personalized story and how it was all about the player.

I like this game as much as anyone else, but this sort of thing is not good for the game. You can do better, ArenaNet.

The points made by OP seem to be legit.
I want Dragons and Gods in Living Story.
+1
Something for the writers to think about for the next LS arc.

That is of course assuming that the player have done all the Story Mode dungeons, because THATS where the story about DE being rebuilt is being told.
Not in the Personal Story, not in the open world, not in the Living Story, but in the DUNGEON story.

And the defeat of Zhaitan is basically part of the Dungeon story-line, even though it also ties into the Personal Story.

Yep. All my 10 characters did. So what now? I met all Destiny Edge in my PS (remember the finale of “racial” part? When all DE is having a meet up? – the part that you conveniently missed?), I listen to their babble in every dungeon and you say we NEED to assume, we didn’t seen all that, because addressing this problem (an addressing it “again” – see Lord Faren threads from Southsun Cove updates) is too much for Anet, even while they did say (again – Lord Faren, SC LS) they need to address this. Sir, you’re so convincing I might even log into a game again… -_-

I didn’t miss it.
But you met the ones that were not of your race in a public gathering, where they talked to each others more or less. Not something that would make them remember you specifically.
Or do you remember every single person you have ever met? Especially if you met them during a situation that most likely was rather emotional.

Story arc wise and for the sake of continuity, by doing Arah story mode, it is automatically understood by default that the player has done the story modes for all the previous dungeons by working with DE. This is whether they actually did it or not (which I did on my main character).

ANET just chose not to force players to do the story mode of dungeons prior to doing Arah story mode because not everyone likes doing dungeons. To cater for the player base as a whole, Arah story mode automatically assumes the player went through all the story mode dungeons. For continuity’s sake, the player befriends DE. However, this living story completely broke any continuity the player had with DE. THAT is the problem. Why establish the continuity at all in the first place if they’re going to do that? Why bother with the elder dragons, then? Why make GW2, then?

As I said before, it’s like the fight with Zhaitan never took place, DE is still disbanded, and Logan and Rytlock still hate each other (actually now it’s like they don’t know each other at all).

Well. I don’t know what to say. Everyone in Tyria, EVERYONE know who the DE is. If You’re not Sylvari newborn, who actually missed them out in dream, you should be able to recognize them.
And that doesn’t solve the problem – why my human toon (or charr, or whatever – but human is clear winner here), who spend hours on top of hours in dungeons (story mode at lest 4 times on each – with my guildies and new guildies and…), have whole PS etc. etc. need to be brought down to those “newborn Sylvaries that may or may not have a clue about DE”.
Do I remember everyone I meet? Nope. But I would remember seeing the glimps of lets say… Metallica/Jackson/Lady Gaga/Real Madrid or whatever – if I was 100% positive I’ve seen them. And it’s hardly a good comparison, when DE is so much more for Tyria, than any band/team is in our world.
I still don’t get your point. Gimme more arguments :P
