First, this LS installment was very lackluster. There are 3 achievements and they take maybe an hour to complete. It is very disappointing. I also think ANET missed a huge opportunity. For a 2 week period, they could have really integrated major LS events into the new mists map. That would allow people to decide whether to do the events, or kill people who try to do them. It would have been a whole other dynamic and would have been fun.

Of course after the two weeks, all PvE should then be removed from the mists map so that it can fit in better as a WvW place.

They could have but look at all the hell they are getting for having the PVE people spend 2 minutes in EOTM to get that golem part. You can only imagine what they would say if they had to do whole events in there.

I personally think it would be nice, but then again I WvW more then I Pve.

You’re kidding though, right?
These last 4 LS releases are supposed to wrap up Scarlet’s story arc, and they had a huge amount of story content compared to previous releases!
People flipped tables as soon as they heard that even a fraction of the story content would be in PvP territory! The only reason why there is even a bit is that AN likes to have in-lore reasons for all of their releases.

The new WvW map has plenty of achievements. They just aren’t LS achievements.

The purpose of this installment was to recap, investigate, draw theories/conclusions, and set up the last couple of chapters for the big finale. And they’ve done just that.

Flipping tables is right, but it was happening on both sides of the argument. PvE players don’t want their story to take them to WvW, and WvW players detest the LS mobs in WvW too.

Bugged or not I will probably never get the Aetherblade achievement in EoTM.

My posts are facts as I know them, or my own opinion, and do not represent any guild.

It is very good that they didn’t decide to do so, and visibly separated EotM and LS achievements. All the previous times LS and WvW intermingled, it didn’t end well.

Putting anything major from LS into the new map would have been a very, very bad choice, for the reason you have already mentioned (“…or kill people who try to do them”).

Actions, not words.

I completely disagree. They stated that this was going to be the smallest LS installment. Think of it as the calm before the storm. This release is to provide a huge recap and some last analysis before next installment’s destruction.

I think that one of the purposes of this installment was to focus more on story and getting somewhere with Scarlet, and recapping for new players (though they could have added a bit more juice to the story, but that’s another topic), the other being the introduction of the EotM map. I personally am glad that they didn’t put more LS in WvW, because I’m not a big fan of the latter, to be honest, and I think a lot of WvW players would have been upset to have PvE content in WvW. I mean, look at the hate many PvE players face in the EotM when they try to complete the little content they have added, imagine the sh-storm if they had crammed in more…

Edit: And I agree with the poster above me, “calm before the storm” is exactly the feeling I get, and if the reduced amount of content in this installment means a great LS update next time, I’m all for it.

Story? Sure, if you consider heaps of exposition to be story content. I don’t. I’d rather read a book than sit through that. Books have pages that you can conveniently flip, without needing to jump through hoops like clicking through dialogue.

For you and me that might be the case, but if you don’t think about just yourself for a moment, then you may notice that there are still a bunch of new or old players with a long break. I heard from a lot old mates and guild members that this story recap was great. Sure it drives the current story not that much further (you’ll only get the obviously message that LA is going to be attacked). But have a look at the LS threads around, all the people are speculating even more.

Don’t forget this is a MMO, it’s not just for you but everyone. So have some patience if that last update wasn’t that great for you personally.

I’m not just talking about the latest update. Many LS updates have been that way. NPCs tell you stuff that’s just an excuse to do something 30 times. Then wait a few weeks for another NPC to tell you why you should do something else 50 times. I don’t consider that storytelling. Rarely, something more interesting pops up, like a dungeon that has some actual plot development while you’re playing through it. Not enough to engage me in the living world story as a whole. 99% exposition and just 1% plot that actually involves the character? Bleh.

It was a boring release from a LS point of view. As others have said, all we did is click through a story basically. It wasn’t fun.

but honestly, so what? ANET does what they want. Look at the eotm map. How many players want MORE pve in WvW? Unlikely that a hardcore WvW person would want that. They only did it to appeal to PvE people. So, basically they should go all in for 2 weeks. Have a major story there. Let the 3 sides fight after certain objectives. It would be fun.

Once the two weeks are over, remove all LS content from eotm, and remove a good amount of the core PvE there.

Umm, wasn’t EotM supposed to be a place for GvG as well? Considering it was initiated as Anet’s apology for their employee trolling GvGers.

But if there is no choice of overflows, how can 2 guilds of the opposite sides actually arrange a GvG session? Did anyone try this?
Taxiing own guildies is one thing, not sure how taxiing people of the opposing server would work or if it is possible. Basically, commanders of both sides need to enter EotM at the same time and hope they end up at the same place.

EotM as it is only solves the issues of gold league servers and creates some problems for those with lower population. Again, like with the big world events like Teq & Marionette, inability to choose between overflows and see their numbers leads to problems in this game.
