Doing us long queue servers a favor.

Yeah it will really help the que. Another cool thing is the overhaul to the WvW tab. I’ll attach a picture to show you but it’s pretty cool. We’ll now be able to see our que spot as well as be able to open the wvw tab and view it from anywhere. Unlike before when it was blocked in overflow and instances.

In T2 and below (probably even some T1 servers) queues only happen on a single map or two and a queue on all four maps is unheard of. So for those people this update is removing the number one incentive to transfer to a non-T1 server: no queues. Population imbalances are going to be even worse now.
Maybe we can just delete a few of the lower population servers and give people on them a free transfer to a medium population server?

Queues on all maps is possible in T2 and T3 as well, but on weekends only (otherwise its only max 3 maps (very rare) on weekdays). T2 has some good balance going now and perhaps T3 in the future if guilds coordinate themselves to make the servers balanced in their tier

@bwillb that actually sounds like a good idea. They have basically taken away any reason to be on one now that the one advantage of no que times is pretty much moot.

Queue’s are still going to matter, just not as critically as before. The nice thing is that you will now be able to actually see what position you are in map queue so you will know right away how far you are from being able to enter the queued map.

Wonder if that same kind of thing could be added to Overflow queues…

Good. Keep all the fairweathers and bads locked up on T1 and T2. Let the real WvW keep taking place on T4 – 6

This.

If lower queue times were not incentive enough to transfer to lower population servers in the past then it’s unlikely to make a difference regardless. When Edge of the Mists was first introduced last year, ArenaNet said they did have plans on alleviating server population imbalances but aren’t ready to reveal what those are yet.
