I will start with the good it looks pretty cool.

Well that’s it for the good. As somebody who only plays wvw and spvp I was excited for a new map. However after 30 mins in etom I will probably never go back there again. Way to much pve nonsense. Huge empty map. Can fall off everywhere so the map supports troll knockback/fear builds. Way to many mobs. Overall very very disappointed and that’s disappointing. Maybe if they added some more waypoints and removed all the mobs except for the keep lords sentries like wvw it would be ok.

Well here’s my impression…
Blue side the wurm tunnel event bugged out because of the sand devil which couldn’t be killed, big open space to move around.
Red side, how come observatory has 3 champs on 3 different levels you need to kill before capping it? no other cap point has that much. Trees right by the keep gate, annoying for view, so annoying.
Green side, narrow maze walkways, annoying chill spells with so many kodan around, yeah I know kodan city but still annoying.

Most of the time spent champ training around the map, 2 hrs in green side had given up and left, only had red zerg to clash with and not very often. The map terrain annoyed me more than anything, I’ll be sticking with regular wvw maps, the just for fights and champ trainers and roamer can have their fun in there.

The good:

  • Huge variety!
  • Players actually defending the bases.
  • Mid-base events, to encourage players stay on the defending side.
  • Verticality.
  • Improved WvW UI.
  • We haven’t see a true new map since Southsun cove, and this one is actually worth looking at!
  • Always populated (I hope).

The bad:

  • Unupgrade-able bases.
  • Camps/nodes/reactors/(whatever they are called) can still be soloed…
  • Noobs destroying their own bridges. I wander if they found some sort of exploit for WXP while building or something.
  • Edge of the Lag…. I died once to many times because my skills didn’t activate untill one minute later. That’s when I actually managed to get in!
  • The Older maps now seem outdated…
…and don’t be toxic!

Well here’s my impression…

I really don’t see roamers playing there. They can’t access large parts of the map.

There are so many spaces unlike skyhammer.

However after the first round it became blob fest lol ….. These tags are not from T1 for sure and i thought low tiers dont blob :P

Maybe that’s just your server???

Im on SoR and after running around this map for a few hours today, this map is excellent, it really does offer something for everyone, today I seen.

Zergs
Havoc groups ( 5-10 man )
Roamers ( 1v1 2v2 )

The map is so big that you can easily avoid a zerg on it, sure some of the objective will require a lot of people to cap it, espically if its defended etc, but that’s always going to be the way.

Whoever at Anet developed this map is an awesome job.

I liked it. The map is beautiful and there are some fun things to do.

My only complaint (and that of many others on my server) was that the lag was horrible. Someone above mentioned skills not activating for a long time. Happened with me too.

I don’t understand why there has to be so many NPC’s and structures everywhere?

My hopes for EotM was simply less structures and less npc’s to worry about, well I guess my hopes just went out the window.

What I’d like to see is a map where the emphasis of it all is the fight against other players, and I think that this map would be just awesome for just that.

As it is now it’s just another blob infested show where size matters, and I doubt that was the dev’s intentions when creating this map. So I’d love to see an overhaul of it all and remove npc’s in every battlement/wall structure and remove the doors from them structures aswell. They still serve a purpouse as a bottleneck, which is needed to slow down movement of larger groups.

I’m so dissapointed at the state of world vs. world in it’s current state, my hopes for EotM gave just that hope but sadly it’s just as bad, or even worse in some cases.

Where’s my X-ray goggles when I need em?

They added in champions so that people would get rewarded for playing in there, even if it just leads to a champ train farm after a few hours, at least people will feel it was worth the time. What you seem to be asking for is an arena map, you can still park yourself in a few of the big open areas for that, OS is still open for all out brawls, or spvp if you want smaller groups.

Let’s see..
Nice Looks.
Outmanned.
Blobs.
Skyhammer.

In other words, like the old maps with a feeling of skyhammer added in, while taking away the ability to avoid blobs thanks to chokepoints (bridges) everywhere.

The only positive regarding this map, imo at least, is the fantastic visuals. Great work there as always, a pity I do not play to appeal my diminishing eyesight.

Small scale? Your having a laff. Siege and CC spamming npcs make this a blob map like everything else in this game is non commpetitive and tedious.
