So Anet says they’re trying to listen to the views of the players more (see CDI).

To EoTM beta testers. Did Anet listen to your input? What were some suggestions that were/were not implemented?

Terrible post. I’m sure that hundreds of suggestions were made. If they listened to 50 and didn’t listen to 250…did they listen? What if the 250 were terrible suggestions (as many undoubtedly were).

Yes, many things players complained about and asked for did get changed. How many? I wasn’t keeping count.

If even Vayne can’t give any major examples of suggestions that were followed, that probably means there were none. So I guess that settles it.

I completely agree! “Stop our own allies destroying our own bridges for achievement points but instead only for a strategical manoeuvre” was the WORST suggestion I’ve ever heard!

Glad they didn’t listen to THAT one!

Well they did change EotM from being match-up based to color-based for one.
I would say that is a rather major change based on feedback.

They changed some bridges so that there is always a way to go to not fall down
They changed turrets from player aimed to automatic
PLayers asked for neutral mobs for dailies
Players asked to be able to collect stuff for dailies
____
Following might have been planned
Addition of POI
Change on cooldowns of some mobs/champs
________

Didin’t read the whole development forum, though, and wasn’t there from the start so can’t state more.
A Widely asked thing not implemented was a central WP and a third bridge from spawn. Guess the WP was for those who asked for it in regular forums.
Spawn bridges were stated to be a ressource thing – They’d wait to see how two bridges turn out before seeing if another one needed to be added.
_______

Edit : lots of bugs were corrected

First iteration of beta – supply was only found in keeps or towers. That was changed immediately by adding supply to reactors.

Map used to not have sentries. Sentries were added to give solo players and small groups objectives.

Kodan used to be the absolute strongest Keep NPC. That fun little AoE Blizzard they can do from anywhere? Would you believe that used to apply daze on every single hit? It literally shut down an entire guild group of 40+ that attacked Green Keep during one of the tests, because they couldn’t use their heal skills.

The altar buff that makes players invulnerable? That used to be a 5 minute duration, oh yeah, and it also had an auto-attack that could be used on enemies without losing the immunity.

The Legendary Defenders that prevent spawn-camping? They used to not exist.

So many graphical bugs, along with tower and keep exploits were fixed. There was one tower in particular where different players found about 6 unique ways to exploit inside. Every time it was thought to be fixed, some innovative tester found another way in.

So many things were changed, fixed, altered, etc…The map is in a much better state than it was in testing.

I suggested that they reward precursors at each keep chest.

I’m disappointed they didn’t listen.

I guess other people in the thread proved that wrong. I didn’t follow it closely enough to know or remember which suggestions were taken up, but yeah, I know some were.

I don’t have the interest to remember or the energy to look it up. Fortunately other people have.

So the answer is yes and no. First, you have to remember that there are a ton of beta testers and everyone had different opinions. They did implement some of the changes that were made. Some things they didn’t implement:

1. Amount of PvE on the map. Most felt it was too high. ANET actually argued that there is the same amount of PvE on this map as a regular WvW. Definitely not true when you factor in all the different buffs.
2. All cannons should be user fired. They kept some as user controlled and added some NPC cannons. For some reason, they said users had asked for those to be NPC. If so, that was a minority of beta testers for sure.
3. Too far to run to get into the action. ANET didn’t do anything about this and just changed the EOTM description to remove the quickly get into action part.

As Malchior said (hiya Malchior!), many things were changed during the course of the beta. All of them made it more playable. I have to admit though, I think we shot ourselves slightly in the foot with the suggestion of making the overflows server-wide instead of matchup wide, and that we suggested aligning on server color. Thinking it through now after the fact, it allies the strongest servers on the same side, and the weakest servers on the same side based on the current matchup. It probably would have been better to randomize the server alliances, avoiding servers that are against each other in the current matchup, but the algorithm would be much harder than what they are using now.
