I actually noticed this when the first vids of this zone got released way back.
All 3 zones have a theme corresponding with a unreleased region
Badlands -> Crystal Desert
Overgrown-> Maguuma Jungle
Frost Reach->Far Shiverpeaks

The Badlands use un-seen textures and assets, I have seen some structures, which you can see in the GW1 CD aswell (margonite towers, forgotten architecture).
