What’s your opinion on the new EOTM update?
Do you like it, dislike it?

Personally, after trying the EOTM for roughly 2 hours, I found myself already bored and mildly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new map design and verticality, however the gameplay itself in just, well, nothing special, nothing I will likely return to.

It’s a nice shake-up from regular WvW in my opinion. Players haven’t found optimal strategies yet, so, at least for now, the battles seem to be a lot more dynamic.

All I saw was a big zerg moving around for each color. We won our MU because our zerg was composed mainly of English speaking players and the Commander put up a ts server for the pugs. We even took both keeps by pvdooring the inner gates…
So far, it’s 99% zerg, 1% roaming. Hope it will change

Played all night and all morning, loved every second of it. Beautiful map, nice vertical design of multi-layers. Nice keep & outpost design, lots of variations, lots of attack routes, choke defense points, and open bridges allowing people to knock some zerglings off. While zergs can still cause good damages, there are multiple routes to get around so you can avoid the zergs if you want to. One game we had 3 commanders, 1 doing defense, 2 going separate routes pushing offense, it was great fun.

Only down side I see so far is that you could get dumped into a lopsided, outnumbered instance. You quickly realize it and have to exit and enter again, hoping to get into a different instance. It’d be nice if they just show you a list of instances available and let you choose. Kind of like queuing for BG’s in WoW.

By the way, in those lopsided instances, or instances where your zerg/blob/guild zerg are owning everything, good for you. But just know that there may be other instances where your color is getting owned. It would be nice if the queue is smart enough to match up guilds queuing together so they put more guild vs guild into those matches together. Because obviously an organized guild zerg all on ts will likely overrun any pug instance without commanders.

It takes what I like about WvW: a PvP battleground that involves large objectives going around. Combined with interesting geometry to get into fights around. I was actually surprised how rarely I got into situations where I could fall off a ledge.

They took out all the random mobs and so the only enemies around are related to objectives, and they made their AI smarter so when players aren’t around it isn’t a 100% bore. As it is, I’m pretty happy with it. While the zerg wasn’t eliminated, it also felt much smaller.

Not enough waypoints. Too much running.
Also, I hate that Zerging is still the most effective way to play.

I think it is a nice way to pass some time while waiting to enter the real wvw maps. But I agree some more waypoints would be cool.

I’ve been in and completed the LW stuff I needed to do... and I really expected there to be more things I had to do for that! There again, this is a WvW update. From what I gather, the WvW players have been asking for some love for a while, so I’d be asking if they’re happy with it.

As a mostly PvE person, I had no real trouble with the new map, except the snowstorms and heights disturb me greatly - the snow made it hard for me to orient myself plus the added worry of being up goodness knows how high! Oof. That’s way harder for me than any opponent player!
It’s still a good looking place, with some interesting angles and I like the change in enemies/allies for the keeps and and capture objectives.

In terms of gameplay, there was a very small and loose zerg running this morning, and we did have a few skirmishes. I had a grin with a couple of enemies in another attempt where I Learn How To Play ( ). I died ignobly a few times (did laugh), and had a quick, breezy fun session. I have no idea if the sides were balanced fairly or not, and sometimes numbers don’t matter anyway, so I can’t really comment on how that was.

I think the number of waypoints was fine and in concurrence with the standard WvW maps. Zerging may still be effective, but I suspect there’s a lot of people who can solo/small group down to the golem parts and back again (if that’s all you’re after).

I played for about 2 hrs as well, and I really don’t like it. There are way too many people on the map. I couldn’t even try to explore without finding an enemy wvw player within site. It was pretty much stay with the zerg or die. I think the player cap per eotm/overflow is a bit too high. Its way too fast paced.
