So, I had one of those scary early-morning-bathroom revelations this morning:

I just had a scary thought… I hope they don’t plan to use this to permit PK raids on other server’s PvE maps.

My concern:
We are supposed to go into EOTM to defeat aetherblades. So it seems logical that opposing player’s character models will be changed to Aetherblade models for the duration. Enemy players will be playing the part of Scarlet’s minions.

Scarlet’s documentation suggests an attack on Lion’s Arch.

Now I am not suggesting that Anet plans to allow PKing in regular LA, but on other maps who knows?

I don’t like where this is going, if my assumptions are correct.

and today at work, I could’nt help but think about this rather concerning thought. Here’s what I came up with:

In PvE you can play alone
The Mists are just too scary and cold

I tap Downed Skill #4 but its in vain
Knifes stuck in my back today

Wait what? Where did you hear that enemy players would be disguised as Aetherblades?

WvW has always included NPC enemies as well as other players. I’d just been assuming the new map would feature Aetherblades in place of the centaurs, skritt etc. that are currently in the Borderlands maps.

I know a few people have said they would like to be able to attack other servers open world maps but Anet have always said they want to keep PvP and PvE in separate locations.

I was hoping to camp the living story locations with friends and kill everyone who is trying to do the PvE achievement :^)

I if you do bad on your borderland in WvW it is what you should expect. IF you fallow WvW lore.

To be honest I strongly suspect a good number of the pver “whiner” posts are troll posts.

kitten ! It’s actually a pretty sweet idea! As long as I and my team still appear as the same classes to each other I’d be happy with this.

They’ve said that Scarlet and PvE will still play a minor role in WvW during the event.

Finally! Some people who get what I’m trying to say!

I never said that this would happen, just a concept that occurred to me.

MarzAttakz – I guess that if I am right you would look as normal to each other. The ‘generic’ models would only appear to enemy players just like the stock models that appear as opposition in WvW.

off the top of my head i can name at least ten things arenanet did with gw2 that should never happen to any mmo Ever.. yet amazingly enough after reading these forums

Dude, chill. I stated clearly in my post that it was an -assumption-. They do not have to be correct!

It would be awesome if they did something like that! A bit more controversial, I’d love to see it even a step further: limited-time invasions of other open worlds, where the invaders are disguised as (for example) Aetherblades. Should be based on server colour or something to make it a bit equal, so large realms can’t gank small realms. Also limited in time/scope – maybe tied to objectives which have to be accomplished within the hour, to get your own world certain bonuses like in WvW. It also should be regulated in some way to avoid zergs, such as splitting the invaders equally between PvE maps. Just some random thoughts, it probably won’t happen anyway!

I’m not a hardcore PvP/WvWer at all, but I think it would be exciting! Certainly a way to implement better AI: disguise opposing players as enemy models and unleash them on other worlds.^^

Of course an assumption doesn’t have to be correct, but an assumption does imply that you think it is likely … and a silly assumption is still silly. The most valuable part about your idea is that it calibrates us for your future posts.

It’s funny, because as a WvW-focused player, we are worried about exactly the opposite.

We worry that they might turn competitive PvP into competitive PvE (you get points by killing Aetherblades, not competitors).

At a random time, Molten Alliance transports burst out of the ground and turn an owned camp neutral….

I’m not sure I get it. So the idea would be that players – disguised as NPC – would be allowed to invade a PvE zone?

If we actually get to control PvE entities (that is, their skills + scaling), that sounds freaking awesome. I mean, imagine having to fight groups of enemies which are genuinely intelligent (if still limited to their 1-3 abilities). If it’s a rare enough event to not constantly lock zones, that’d potentially make for one of the most unique PvE events so far. In any MMO. :O

If you want to interpret different, contrary and more rational opinions and thoughts as abuse, then yes, you were abused and everyone attempting to change your point of view for the better is a bully.

For what it’s worth I really and I mean really liked your idea!

Thanks, Marz. You and a few others ‘got’ what I was trying to put across, and saw that it was just random ideas rather than a cast iron statement of fact.
