I’d go with Anise instead. They did promise our nemesis would be someone we already knew, and Scarlet certainly wasn’t known at that time, nor was Kasmeer beyond her South Sun introduction iirc.

Lord Faren has the potential to be something more, but being tied to the personal story limits his possibilities. He was in the background for a while, he somehow survived the fall during the Jubilee and Scarlet did play rough with him when she could have done a lot more.

Have any of you noticed the voice at the end of Guild Wars 2 – Our Story So Far sounds different from the Scarlet we’ve known?

Are we even sure it’s Scarlet and not the Personal Nemesis(who according to ArenaNet was someone we knew and since we didn’t know Scarlet at the time the Nemesis is obviously not her)?

Could Countess Anise, Queen Jennah, Kasmeer and the voice whispering into Scarlet’s head all be the Nemesis in disguise?

If so how is she/he going to make it personal? Kill Destiny’s Edge maybe? What does she/he mean by playtime? Is she/he drawing Scarlet on a goose chase after her for her/his amusement?

Seriously, though, I’m getting a vibe that Kasmeer is just who she says she is…only she’s about to go bad on us. She’s been harboring resentment against the other nobles of DR for years for what was done to her family, remember. Then we have the finger-pricking incident, the perilous pursuit of Scarlet, and the lurking menace of ED corruption she must encounter in her travels.

Many have hypothesized the Scarlet will die at the end of the LS arc, perhaps in the act of redeeming herself. But somebody’s gonna have to take up the mantle of Bad Guy/Gal…

But Kasmeer and Delaqua are an analogue for Lyssa, so they’re sort of a package deal. Braham, Rox, Kasmeer/Delaqua, Canach, Taimi, and E aren’t Destiny’s Edge 2.0, they’re the six Gods 2.0, no longer human-only.

Braham: A guardian. Basically, a courageous warrior who lights things on fire. Balthazar, obvs.

Rox: A ranger (in GW1, they were explicitly linked to Melandru). Also, a miner. Name sounds like Rocks. Nature + Earth = Melandru.

Kasmeer/Delaqua: What’s Lyssa all about? Illusion (Kasmeer), Water (“Del Aqua”), Beauty (depends on your taste), and two women entwined tog… uh, I’ll be in my bunk.

Canach: Was a pretty hero Sylvari, then got all grim and dark looking, and acting, but still sort of a good guy. What with Grenth being sort of a better-than-the-alternative deity, he has the attitude, even if he doesn’t have much in the way of an ice motif yet.

Taimi: Not a lot to go on yet. Certainly, her illness could make her more compassionate to the suffering and give her an interest in studying healing magic, but who knows? But, and it may be a stretch, remember that the legs of Dwayna’s statues in GW1 were always broken and fragmented, and the statue was suspended by her magic (presumably, since the whole thing collapsed in the absence of divine favor). Asuran technomancy always seemed sort of air-themed, what with the crystals and sparks (that also being the theme of the Air dragon), and it’s that tech that keeps her mobile. Though if she upgraded Scruffy to fly or at least levitate, so much the better.

E as Kormir is basically just speculation, but E seems to know a lot about things that are pretty deep in the shadows. Secrets are just hidden Truth. Most likely human and male, or else capable of passing as such both vocally and when holding someone from behind with a knife at their throat. Would be the one gender flip, if male, but then again, Abaddon had the role before Kormir. And if we’re talking about secrets…

A bit of clarification, they were not humans, but they are in humanoid form. I don’t know if that should be the proper term used in Tyria, since it’s not only humans who walk with two legs and use their hands for tools, and based on the history of Tyria, they were not the first as well. Maybe “two-legs” termed by the Centauri perhaps? haha So the “gods” are two-legs. As to what their true/original form is, if their form reflects the race they have chosen to bless, I do not know.
As a side note regarding humans, one theory that I have is that humans in Tyria were originally humans from a future planet Earth. It’s either humans had an exodus from planet Earth or there was an experiment with warp drive technology, only the spacecraft ended up in Tyria. Lost not just in space, but also lost in another dimension.

Sounds like Scarlet to me, also, if you’ve read Scarlet’s journal, you’ll have noticed her way of talking is different there. This also goes for the holograms that taunt you during the killer marionette, she doesn’t do crazy psycho Bubbles anymore like she did before.

Yeah. It’s a creative notion to be sure, but aside from all that I don’t think the Six Gods are…well, all that relevant anymore. I mean, our teams of multi-racial heroes have to go into the heart of Orr on a regular basis and cleanse their temples.

Plus, while it’s true that Rox is a ranger…a profession closely aligned with Melandru—so was Pyre Fierceshot. And we all know what he thought of the gods.

RE: Personal Nemesis -

Where did Anet say that this person was going to be someone we know? I honestly missed that part. All I remember them saying was that this nemesis was going to be introduced with this Living story (back before Flame and Frost really took off) and then after the Queen’s Jube, Scarlet takes direct notice of us, and i took that as she was the nemesis they spoke of for us.

Did I miss something else in there that changes any of that?

On the topic of “personal nemesis”:

What we were told was that we “would recognize our personal nemesis when we would see her, or him”. This does not mean that we saw the nemesis before, or that he/she was featured in Guild Wars 1, but simply that the character would immediately grab our attention in some way.

Scarlet sending us a boobytrapped present by mail, as revenge for foiling her interruption of the Queen’s Jubilee, qualifies as grabbing our attention.

I believe Kasmeer’s outcome is one out of this three (the first two may also lead to her death/demise):
1) Shown to be Scarlet, as OP said. Scarlet has been shown to USE us to make her toxin alot more powerful. Well guess who broke through the wall of illusion placed around the Tower of Nightmares? That’s right, our dear Kasmeer. And the fact she went directly to touch the giant pod may be how Scarlet got her more powerful sample. (Even though it could make sense, I do not think this is the case unless Scarlet was also retconned to be a powerful mesmer or inventor of a device that lets her alter reality – her and others’).
2) Her contact with the pod will come handy in dealing with the Toxin Scarlet is (presumably) going to launch at us and at creating a more-powerful antitoxin. (as DarcShriek said)
3) She might probably die of said contact with the pod, and die in a heartbreaking-epic last fight scene against Scarlet or Scarlet’s creations. However I don’t think this is the case: we would have at LEAST ONE hint of said illness by Kasmeer…she looks quite fine in the last patch.

You didn’t. As the Living Story is winding down people are getting crazier and crazier with their theories. Just like how people are still thinking her pricking her finger in the Nightmare Tower was foreshadowing of some future impending doom.

There may be some deaths at the end of this Living Story who knows. I don’t think one will be Kasmeer suddenly falling over dead due to a finger prick.

It would be amazing if Trahearne showed up to pull off one of the greatest moves known to man with his Greatsword. Sheathing the Sword.
