Please take away bridge achievement!
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
People are destroying bridges in keeps solely for the achievement, and it is sabotaging those that actually want to play the match. Please don’t allow people to continue to get achievements for trolling the players.

Thanks.
I’m always amazed that game devs can’t seem to predict the friction between players on the same team that sort of crap causes.
Diversity in a game should be synergistic, not conflicting. I’ll bet nobody at ANet even understood that comment.

Probably because it’s a really complicated way of saying “Achievements should encourage teamwork, not conflict.”
Message me any time in game.
I’m watching someone do it right now actually. Built a cata and just keeps blowing up the bridge in our keep. GJ Anet
You have a good point, but Anet really can’t win. Encourage teamwork? people cry that they cant get the chevo because other people suck. Give achievements which can be done solo? people grind them out and complain they are already done, or they are done by sabotaging others (see: Marionette warden-specific dodging chevos, which I have seen cause the event to fail twice). But I agree that some achievements are clearly an oversight. If the content is hard, don’t put in something silly (tail dodge on teq). If it requires teamwork, let players get it from anywhere (unlike warden chevos). If it can be done through griefing or sitting in one spot for hours on end…..it’s probably not a good achievement at all. That all said, they seem to be learning. Slowly, but they are learning. The CDI seems to have sped a few things up.

Should just make the suggestion that players can’t destroy bridges in their land or something similar.

Definitely not. Today I destroyed a bridge as an entire army of the enemy was crossing to our keep. Half of them fell to their deaths, the other half panicked and retreated.
Used strategically, it’s a very well played move.
I have not once crossed the main bridge in the desert region without seeing someone destroying the bridge. One match there were even four catas – two on each side…
Seconded, I’m disappointed devs didn’t predict this to be a problem. Every good idea is destroyed because there is always some idiots who abuse it.
Destroying the bridge itself could be a good tactic in wvw but it will be plagued for eternity by this situation, as it is that achiev has no value, either remove it or implement a deterrent.
tbh the easiest way to resolve this issue is to simply remove that achiev asap, I DO NOT find it fun every time I run toward these bridges its either destroyed or about to…

Wasn’t EOTM tested over several months by many large WvW guilds? Why didn’t they pick this up?
Normally it’s easy to blame Anet for any perceived bad design but when they finally let the players test it then those testers really have to take some of the responsibility too.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Yeah they had testers. But they seem to have invited WvW guilds in to test for the most part not the PvErs.
Its the PvE achievement hunters doing this. Not a single WvW focused crew would do more then to weaken it so when the invading army is on it. One hit and down it goes… so thats probably what got tested.
I dont blame the WvW testers for this… I blame Anet for not seeing what anyone with half a brain could tell them was obvious… if you tie an achievement to doing something that is bad to your team… people will do it and screw the team.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.

LOL i already got both destroy and build it was fun :p specially when people fell to their death because i catapulted the bridge to 0 while they were on it LOLOLOLOLTROLOLOL

-They have begun acknowledging the player in LS dialogue. Most recently, Marjory was like ‘hey I need your help. I can’t figure this thing out. You’re from the priory? Awesome! Some credibility will help get the artifacts.’ etc, etc. There was also a little paragraph of praise at the end of one of the letters. it’s obviously tacked on, but hey, they listened to the CDI poster outcry about feeling like it’s about Destiny’s Edge 2.0 and not YOUR character. Like I said, it’s a start.
-They have begun building more challenging content as has been requested across PvE for about a year now. Fractals revamp, Teq, Jungle Wurm, and to an extent Marionette (in that case, harder than most speed-run dungeons at any rate).
-I suspect the last chapters of Scarlet were supposed to be spread out over another month or so, but were condensed due to the huge outcry against her as a villain. I am liking the net result of that so far, even if it’s still a bit lacking. Again, it’s a start.
-EotM was built to solve the fundamental problem of wanting to WvW, but being prohibited from it during peak hours on high population servers. Moreover, EotM bridges are an interesting dynamic (though should probably be adjusted. I do see potential in them though) along with many other aspects of EotM which I think are very innovative and solid ideas.
-Finally, they admitted that the ‘TWO WEEK RELEASES FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND kitten NO WE WONT CHANGE IT’ mantra wasn’t working, and they are changing it slightly. LS is going for 4 updates at 2-week intervals, then a month-ish of time before a large non-LS update which is feature-focused, then another month-ish break before starting another LS, with a TBD release schedule, I am guessing something similar to this (2 months LS, 2 months with 1 feature patch, repeat.)
I could go on, but those are examples. Are they enough? Maybe not. In fact probably not. But they are all steps in the right direction of learning, listening, and innovating. The proof will be in the finale of this LS, the feature patch, and the first couple patches of the next LS. The CDI will have been around long enough that if they have learned -enough- from that, we will see it.

Don’t blame the testers. I tested EotM, and I brought up the problem of bridges being so easily destroyable. I wasn’t the only one, there were multiple threads on their test forums that mentioned this. The same is true for the relative ease with which some classes can push/pull characters off of some of those bridges, and the long running distances to get back into action. Anet just chose to ignore that feedback. Testing is pretty much worthless when the feedback of testers is ignored.
Didn’t know there was an achievement for it, but I guess that explains why some teammembers were trying to destroy the bridge while I was still on it. I thought they were trolls, but they were just mindless AP farmers.
Sure is great to have players that aren’t interested in WvW sabotage players that are.

It’s always been that way with world exploration, dailies and jump puzzles. So people that have no interest in WvW itself have to go there to do the other aspects that are forced on them to “make them play WvW and see if they like it.”
I’d say “They’ll learn” but considering they’ve destroyed 8 years of experience developing GW1, that boat has sailed.

Oh god imagine being able to do this in Hills on any borderland. Greatest defense ever, you’d force the entire enemy force to north inner unless they wanted to waste their supply repairing the bridge.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
Pffft, this behavior could be predicted without even testing it. I could have told them this would happen by just reading the concept on paper.
This reminds me of back in GW1’s Nightfall campaign, when they introduced the Light Bringer title, and people would just stand on a resurrection shrine all night farming the clone-spawning torment creatures, to get that title over night. Hehehe. GG.

They really should delete this archievement after the LS.
Seems like they should replace it with an achievement for killing X number of enemy players by collapsing a single bridge. Though that might be hard to track.
