Zulu Ox Tactics [zulu]
Reason why allied players are anonymous?

I saw this too. But then some people I could see their names. I think you can only see the actual names of the people from your server. (I know I saw a few from my own that I recognized, but some names weren’t)
Please give us a keyring…

Yes, you can see player names from your server. But for the other ~7 servers you are allied with, you cannot.

you can see other server player names only when they /s or similar, :P
no idea why.
Maybe it’s just an oversight, since the possibility to be matched with same color was implemented out of the initial design…
In testings, there were only 3 servers, so this problem didn’t arise.
I think (and hope) Anet will look into that

It is actually a bug. We are currently investigating a fix and hope to have it fixed as soon as we can. We agree, we want you to see people’s names.
I like being told it is a bug that will get fixed!

Great to hear that, thanks!

Thank you so much Devon! I’m really happy to hear that this is a bug and you guys want us to see player names. I’m really looking forward to forging friendships across servers and seeing how other WvW guilds play. Last night when I was running around on the Overgrowth team I saw some players from Aggression [Agg] and many other guilds. :-)
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.
But I like the idea that I can see who is form my server… Especially for the language tagged servers this is (would be, since its a bug) really usefull.

This is actually really good to hear. I was a bit baffled about this naming issue and knowing that it’s being worked on and isn’t the intended behavior is really good to know. Conceptually, I really like EotM. But not being able to easily communicate with the people you’re playing with really takes a lot away from what could otherwise be a potentially fun experience.

Good news. Seeing the names will be a nice add.
Sounds good. Although I kind of liked being able to tell who among my allies was actually from Tarnished Coast and which were from different servers.
If I had my way with EotM, these would be example names:
our team (green): Legend The_Name – Dungeon Master
red team: Soldier Those Darn Reds – Honors in Applied Jumping
blue team: Knight Those Darn Blues – Been There, Done That

Good to hear, it was very strange seeing those generic names.
