I don’t understand why it isn’t at 12k? Why do I need to get 3 pieces of armor I don’t want in order to get 1 that I do…
I’m glad that there’s a distinct reward for people that have achieved so much…but there is a really big discrepancy between the helm and boots compared to what it is for the other pieces.

I’m also curious about something regarding your AP. On the same screen as in your screenshot, can you hover the cursor over where it tells you your AP total and tell us what the breakdown is?
Sure. I think I miss at least 500 points of daily and monthlies thought. Have been slacking for a month when Crab Toss was a daily and it made me outraged and sometimes dont manage all PvP dailies.
This is unacceptable, simply put.
I don’t see what the fuss is about. It’s not like they are uber cool skins. They are there just to stroke people’s egos. “Look how amazing I am I have 21K AP.” AP is meaningless in a skill based game.

Thanks. I figured a large percentage would be dailies and monthlies. Dailies only take about 90 minutes to do so it’s not like you’re spending a considerable amount of time like some people were suggesting.
It takes me upto 6 hours a day per day to do all the dailies. The 5 SoloQ and 3 TeamQ wins in pvp are the main problem. Even if you have 100% win rate (which is unrealistic) it will take 2 hours alone. With a realistic win rate of 50% (long term) it will take 4 hours per day on average. Add another 2 hours per day to do the PvP and WvW dailies.
On some days I dont get anything in the game done except grinding dailies…
I usually just do the 4 original PvP achievements since I know the other four are time consuming. I can usually do the PvE ones in 30 minutes (longer if one is a dungeon), the WvW take 30 minutes of less depending on which ones, and the PvP takes about 30 minutes. For sPvP, I don’t care about rank so I normally go all out on my first match and then look for nearly finished matches to complete the match participation achievement.
I would really appreciate a little change in the AP system so you wouldn’t be forced to take set parts you don’t want as well. Now we have more items to get, so one every 3K would be really really appreciated.
To avoid people who have already reached 12+K AP being shafted, the chosen items so far could be reset.

You loose 1460 points per year if you skip the 4 new pvp dailies, plus all the permanent achievements which come alongside doing them.
Maybe 30k will get us the chest and legs in the future. I want to see both armor sets
completed.

True. With how much of my time I would have to invest in doing those, I decided it wasn’t worth it to me. I still do the other dailies just to keep the AP coming in but I have yet to see any reward that’s worthwhile to me to inspire me to go all out with getting AP. .
These boots are made for walking.
And that’s just what they’ll do.
One of these days these boots
are gonna walk all over you.
I like the boots for Charr.
Why? They’re the only boots for the guys that cover the toes! The claws are always exposed. And not just the claws, the ends of each toe is also open…
It’s annoying 3:<

I could never make the radiant and hellfire equipment work with other pieces of armor in the game, they always looked out of place.
Can’t wait to see the chest and leggings!

LOL u crazy…I thought I had a lot with my 14k lmao
great! http://dulfy.net/2014/02/04/gw2-remodeled-flamekissed-light-armor/#more-74107
but at 21k achi points? really? why not at 12?or is dulfy information incorrect?
Yea I agree with this it should be at 12…why are we forced to choose the hellfire AND radiant, if i just want one set i shud have it at 20k pts.. :c not kewl arena
y u do dis arena? e ? y u do dis ? not kewl :c
It should most definitly not be at 12k. There is a clear progression about the Radiant/Hellfire skins. They unlock every 3k AP, first the Helm, Gloves and Shoulders of both (3k, 6k, 9k, 12k, 15k and 18k) and then you will unlock under the same mechanics the Boots, Chest and Pants (21k, 24k, 27k, 30k, 33k, 36k). I’d like to point out I am nowhere close to the 21k mark, but I am happy with the skins progression of the AP.
I think the issue is that they couldn’t very-well take away someone’s 12k reward (as people have already earned at least that much).
So they just stuck it on 21k, as that didn’t yet have a skin reward. Easiest solution.
If someone had already unlocked 21k, then ANet could probably just give them the option to choose a boot skin.
Noone had 21k yet, but there are people close to it (20k+). So it was about time to make this update.

But that’s not how it works at all. it currently goes
3k- helm
6k- gloves
9k- shoulders
21k- boots
It doesn’t make any sense at all. Basically they decided 21k for the sole reason that the top leaderboards are nearing 21k. It doesn’t follow any logical progression. It should be:
3k- helm
6k- gloves
9k- shoulders
12k- boots
15k- pants
18k-chest
Stop crying, get farming temporary achievements for 6hours a day. I think thats what Anet wants us to do so their metrics look better
Nice archivments points ! Is there anyone with 21k+ points ?

Yes. Someone had 20,500 or something like that a few days ago so I’m sure they broke the 21k mark.
Edit: Just check and there are 3 people with AP between 20-20.5k. They’ll likely have it within a week.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
More like 2 weeks
Yeah. I probably overestimated how quickly they could get the achievements. I assumed that they still had enough permanent ones to give them that extra push.

They should do GSHBLC GSHBLC, but with all of the options obtainable by 18k AP, there would be no further prestige associated with the skins obtained above 18k. This problem already exists in Zenith weapons. When a player is rewarded with a Zenith weapon for reaching 23k AP, it bears no more prestige than the same weapon obtained by something with 1k AP.

Most permanent achievements take quite a few hours to get once you reach this stage. Unless they are from the most recent patch of course.

Basically, this.
They want people to play longer and more often (preferably every day). The dailies, the time gating, the RNG, the jump in weapon and armor tier… everything has been thought to make us play more.
Indeed its quite funny, since the game was advertised as being able to take a break from playing it (eg if you run out of meaningul content to do) and continuing it at a later time without loosing out.
Great to see boots added in, and it does look like eventually there will be a full set.
What I’d personally love to see is light and medium armor styles added to the radiant and hellfire skin sets. While these skin rewards are very nice they are clearly heavy armor in design. A radiant circlet or diadem for example as an option over a big heavy helm would be much appreciated.
Huh!
I never thought that a set of Boots (skins), would be far more epic than Legendary weapons.
I don’t care if you have Twilight, Dreamer, Moot, and Kraitkin.
It’s the boots that make you god-like
no doubt at the amount of ap required, those who have them certainly have earn them imo. I wont see those for a couple of years. Good grief or good job to those who do.

those boots will take a minimum of X hours spent in game. you can take a break and come back just fine, but if you want to grind ap for a pair of boots, well, no other way around that than by playing the game

Either way you put it, you loose out, since Anet will keep adding more and more rewards. You will need 36k AP to have both sets in complete. And who knows what Anet will make after that.
And who knows what Anet will make after that.
I think we could use a few more back pieces, myself. Preferably fire themed.

Good idea.
The achievement requirements for the armor is about as reasonable as WvW achievements.
Since Anet hasnt seen an issue with that in 1.5 years – based on their inability to change it – there clearly is no issue here.

People are going to agree or disagree on this, but I look at the “pick your favorite first” setup with the Zenith weapons, and the Radiant/Hellfire pieces to a lesser extent, to be a great benefit of the system rather than a problem. There’s not a ton of prestige in my Zenith weapons, or in the second set of gloves, or what have you, since others can’t tell whether it’s first or not, but it lets people get their favorite rewards first, then feel accomplishment from filling out the set. It has the weight of choice, with the reward of then getting to obtain the other choice as well.
Given that there are achievement-related titles, visible AP scores, and a progression of glove-shoulder-helm(-and now boots,) I don’t see it as a problem that zenith weapons aren’t prestigious.
Just thought I’d throw in another perspective on the issue.
I think the Zenit weapons are a problem, because a skin you can have with infinite use at just 1k AP bears no value to me.
I never ever use them anymore after the hype died a few days later after the first people got the 1k chest.
the information is correct.

^^^^This exactly.
…except for the outside part, outside sucks * and there’s fleshpeeling ice everywhere~ although he probably does need somekinda break. o.O
The reason though is they screwed up doing that in the first place and damage control would be too much effort for them I guess.

IMO, this is the way all armor should be.
Strutting around in armor you don’t care for because it is “prestigious” is just silly.
I use the Zenith skins on one character because I, shocking, I know, like the way they look on that character.

This is my personal philosophy too. Get armor/gear that YOU like the look of, because you’re the one who has to live with it at the end of the day. Who cares what other people think your gear looks like? You’re not here to impress them (and chances are they don’t care what you’re using either).
The progression makes sense:
3 – Gloves 1
6 – Shoulders 1
9 – Helm 1
12 – Gloves 2
15 – Shoulders 2
18 – Helm 2
21 – Boots 1
Well, that’s the thing – it doesn’t. 12k, 15k and 18k gears are just a placeholder until you get to 21k (if you were interested in set 2 more than in set 1, you’d have picked them first, after all). And Radiant set, while looking nice, is completely useless unless it is complete, as it doesn’t mix well with others. Hellfire does mix with some of the flaming armors (CoF), but it is ugly, so that doesn’ matter much.

Partial Radiant looks great with other heavy, plate looking armor dyed with Celestial dye.
