Yeah that’s a real smart idea. That totally didn’t make the “Six Minutes To Knightfall” achievement nigh impossible.
Especially, if the map can only hold UP TO 150 people.

Terrible idea on that limit ArenaNet. I’ve seen some good ideas and some bad choices, I love this game to bits but this idea route made me shake my head.

Assume for a moment that each knight has 5,5 million HP.

Before:

  • In 6 minutes, a group of up to 150 players has to produce 16,5 million damage.

Now:

  • In 6 minutes, a group of up to 150 players has to produce 16,5 million damage.

Before:

  • In 6 minutes, a group of up to 150 players has to produce 16,5 million damage, but can zerg the bosses to make it easier to pull off.

Now:

  • In 6 minutes, a group of up to 150 players has to produce 16,5 million damage, but cannot zerg. The Knights now have more toughness to compensate for the player cap.

Fix’d, because this is how it is now.

Good job for making the 6min achievement impossible (and even if you do it with organized guild and manage to do it, no credit is given, it is still bugged)… most of the time we even manage to go to Scarletts ship now since not all three knights can be killed in time… so no way to to the “No tricks” achievement, which is also bugged… doing it with open combat log, getting no damage, never being downed or killed and getting credit for event… but no achievement… and now you can’t even try anymore… great job here… honestly I have never been this frustrated before with a living story event.
[edit] and of course the “great” idea to make condition damage useless most of the fight, but needing them later on…

Since dps output was cut in half by increasing the Knights Armor. The armor is not even a scaling issue. You can have 5 people at a Knight and your damage, post patch, is still less than half of what it was.

Also the calculation incorrectly assumes that players are capable of co-ordinating (spoiler, they are not). Anyone over the 50th spot is dealing zero damage. Similarly if there are more than 150 players in the zone, then there’ll be less DPS too.

Basically there are 2 new cut-off points into the calculation where there was not before.

Considering they said that the first 4 LS updates were supposed to end Season 1 of the LS, and the fact that this current LS is the 4th installment of the year so far..

Idk if we will even get a LS update next month.

The next two patchs are WvW patches for the Spring WvW tournament. That’s, at the very least, 4 weeks worth of WvW content. WvW season’s also bring in a lot of the PvE players that would generally ignore WvW.

I just don’t think a LS is coming for a while. We’re not going to be fighting Mordremoth anytime soon – so its doubtful we will be going to any new area’s. Maybe, at most, we might clean up what Scarlet did to LA and Tyria, but after that, probably nothing for a while.

actually the next patch is supposedly a story patch. Probably has very few if any game play additions. Its epilogue time. There could be achievements like at the end of flame and frost where you get them by talking to the various characters.

from the patch notes

Aftermath
A small release will be available on March 18, which will provide an epilogue to recent events. That release will show the aftermath of what players have experienced in the Battle for Lion’s Arch and will conclude the current story arc.

This makes no sense , its impossible to get 50 random people on each knight , anet must live in fantasy land if they think it’s possible. Anyways most of the time there isn’t enough people to kill even two let along all three. I’ll keep trying for a couple more days till i giveup and wait for the next big event.

Hyperbole is always fun!

I’ve done it twice in random overflows now (6 minutes). It requires a small amount of coordination, and people to be comfortable with melee. On top of that proper buffs are a huge dps increase for everyone: Scarlet potion, power food, Vigil buff. It also helps if people start coordinating more than 5 minutes out from the event, seriously. Mortars and embers can certainly help, but are definitely not required.

The only major melee threat the boss has is a constant 3 swing, 360 degree AA combo, each hit can do roughly 5k damage on a zerker. Intelligently moving in and out based on the swings can allow a zerker to maintain a high damage presence without falling over by the end of the attack chain. Knight’s and Soldier’s can take the AA and just duck out periodically to wait for heal to come off cooldown when needed. Guardians should be sharing aegis whenever possible to people around them.

I’m assuming based on the 50-50-50 split, maps can only hold 150 people, so if your current knight is capped, that means there’s another one somewhere that isn’t. If you’re not moving to the other knights, shame on you.

Complaining does this game’s community no good, we should be trying to better ourselves collectively. These events are the perfect tool for accomplishing that. Condition builds being shafted in this fight is rough, and a bad design choice, but that aside everything else still stands.

I don’t really see any hyperbole, there are plenty of unlucky people who have been in multiple failures, just last hour my tally went to 8 straight.. In a previous thread I said 6, but I forgot I didn’t get boxes on the last round(how I was keeping track), so it was 7 straight instead.

We can follow all of the tips you had in your post, but it doesn’t change the fact that we can always get stuck in a server with many people who don’t read the forums, and wont bother to do any of this, nor follow advice in map chat.

Hyperbole comment was geared more towards the claim of nigh impossible/impossible etc. I’ve had a few bad streaks myself.

Your reply ultimately boils down to my last paragraph. There will always be resistance from lazy people who want to be carried, but eventually they will get tired of getting nothing. They will quit outright, or adapt to the new style of content; a new style that Anet has specifically stated is meant to try and increase the skill of the general player base in some form or another.

I shout those tips out before every fight, if even one person adapts it’s a win in my book. Eventually those individuals start to add up, and we begin to see a higher success rate on content like this. It’s up to us to make ourselves better, not for Anet to shy away from challenging content to baby the weakest links. I for one have mostly enjoyed the content, more so after the forced split. The bugs are really my only major killjoy, outside of the questionable decision to alienate condition builds during the knights, as my main is a condition build.

Sure it can be done, but there’s also the part where they changed how an event works DURING the event which is not right with me. It’s sure not right with a few other people I know.

Complaining is a subset of feedback. It is negative feedback, and usually poorly or incorrectly targeted, but it is feedback.

When possible its best to take blame on yourself and improve, but as mentioned, there are a lot of design decisions that cause taking blame yourself just sounds insane. “Well, its really my fault everyone wanted to find Peter instead of Knights.”, “Its my fault I was chain-stunned by the unmarked, untelegraphed slash attack”, “Its my fault I chose to play a condition-based character and was useless half the fight.”
