I have about 10 stacks of these, a dev said before the end of the patch to keep them to exchange for things

A new merchant for blade shards has been promised to appear “soon”. That could be the April 15th feature update. Keep an eye on the patch notes.

The merchant will be on Havoc’s Heir Airship and require a pass to get there.

would be nice if they just unbound it so we could trade on TP

Even if it did, everybody got free passes so…

So, I still have my blade shards. Are we really waiting until April 15th to get rid of them?

I know if I delete them I’ll be sorry but I’m tired of having them filling up my inventory. We better be able to get something decent for them after holding on to them for weeks. >.>

my guess is that the merchant will come with the zephyr sanctum thing, like they had the merchants last year to soak up mats.

I fully anticipate something like this. You turn over 2500 blade shards, and you get something that you need 25 of, just to make something random in the mystic toilet. The other materials needed would be a vision crystal for sure.

And still you wouldnt be able to sell the shards on TP

Would it be so difficult to put a small patch in that would allow shards to be stacked 1000 to a slot, rather than just 250? That would make it a ton easier to hold onto the shards until the patch comes out that makes them exchangeable for something. Or would something like that potentially screw up all other stacks in inventory?

Im starting to think that this guy is either going to be a major character in the next LS, or advising us to hold on to the shards was the actual April Fools joke.

Well it must have booster the recent character slot, bank slot and collection expander sales.

No joke, they said it on one of their live twitch streams, if watch them that is.

Can’t find any mention of a new vendor in the patch notes so perhaps not?

I bet after waiting all this time with them you’ll be able to trade them for watchwork sprockets or something.

I am assuming they simply mentioned it so that people knew that they could hold on to them for future use.

They don’t mention anything about any timeline after all. I am guessing we will see it when Season 2 starts.

Yup, unfortunately I was right.
Who knows when he’ll appear? Maybe April 29 maybe after the WvW tournament, maybe in the end of Living Story season 2 …

ANet is keeping very silent on the matter.

Boss 1: “there was no cover sheet attached to your merchant tps report. Didn’t you get the memo?”

Employee: “yeah I got it I’m sorry I just forgot.”

Boss 2. “Yeah… you see we are putting cover sheets on all of our new merchant tps reports so if you could just remember to do that… that would be great.”

Boss 3: new items will be 100000 blade shards? Whoa man. It should be 1000 blades, where each blade is 250 shards. Duh.

kitten , this merchant really needs to show up, even if it is just to trade for lame things.

Has to be something for crafting. The nodes for clockworks in your home instant will sometimes still give you shards. So, if I had to guess, recipes in the future.

Hope they become trade-able soon.

Hello, i am back after long break. I`m trying to farm these shards, can anybody give a info or at least a hint about where do you farm them? All infos in web looks like it`s dead.

1) Can`t get the nodes from home instance since the achivements/events are no more in the game.

2) Same for events/mobs in Lions Arch.

3) Cannot buy bag of supplies from Heirloom Lost and Found as they`re not in the game anymore (i assume as i couldn`t find em)

4) Loot them from Aetherblades mobs. In Tyria these are found probably only at Not So Secret Jumping Puzzle location. Area doesn`t really help you farming and there are only few mobs.

Unfortunately these mobs stopped to drop any shards after 5-7 hours of farming.

Haven`t found any website that offers info about Aetherblades spawn points/spots.
So here`s the question. Where do i get these shards? Is there any way… any way i can get those? Thanks for any infos.

There’s a few ways to get Blade Shards:

1. Harvest them from the Watchwork Sprocket node in your Home Instance. There is about a 20% chance to get a Blade Shard per strike. (Won’t help you, I know, but just putting it here for completion’s sake.)

2. Kill Aetherblade mobs in the Not So Secret jumping puzzle.

3. Kill Aetherblade mobs in the Aetherpath of the Twilight Arbor dungeon.

4. Kill Aetherblade mobs in the center of the Edge of the Mists WvW map. (Harder to do since the Aetherblades here are much tougher than usual.)

5. Mystic Forge recipe:

- 1 Pile of Glittering Dust
- 1 Pile of Shimmering Dust
- 1 Blade Shard
- 50 Watchwork Sprocket

This creates about 10 – 15 Blade Shards. Supposedly there is a rare chance of getting 50 Blade Shards using this recipe, but I haven’t confirmed that myself.

If you have a buddy who has his node, you can follow him into his own home instance and gather blade shards off his node. My buddy has been farming my candy corn, sprockets/shards and crystals lately.
