Q:
Was wondering whether the blade shards will still be available after Escape from LA becomes Battle for LA? Would be good to know whether I have to farm them like crazy this weekend or not!

Farm them like crazy anyway!

The more important question is will they be usable for anything else or should i just toss these things out?

sure we only need a 1000, isn’kitten .. I have 1500 already, getting them is easy.
We’d only need more, if we’ll need them in the future and if we need them in the future, there’s going to be other ways to get them.

Well we may need them to get the different colored versions still. We don’t know what else besides the possible Power Cores we’ll need.

I hope we don’t still need power cores, I deleted mine since there’s no way to farm the chest key parts.

I’m betting that they’re available until the 18th. There will encounters with mobs that are equipped with them so it seems reasonable. I imagine the supply bags will continue to drop from the mobs in LA.

Wrong kind of power cores. The ones (potentially) required aren’t available to be acquired yet.
See here (Static Assault Power Core, Synergetic Assault Power Core, and Dynamic Assault Power Core)

Wish we could get a dev response…
Is this the last week we’re going to be able to get blade shards? If we can still in the next patch, what about after it? Post March 18th, are we never going to be able to get blade shards again?

I’m sure if you need them for the next version, anet will allow us to get them.

Definitely maybe.

I recommend trying to get as many blade shards as possible before the next patch (just in case they go) and storing them for later use. Who knows, they may decide to unbind them (unlikely) or give them a vendor value and we may be able to sell them then (again, unlikely).
You may also find that you want to make one of the back item variations down the road for a character but do not have the blade shards anymore, so get them while you can.
I just did a few LA runs last night and got enough blade shards to make several of the exotic back items. However, I also like the back item without the blades so I made a few of those to hang on to so I can transmute the non-blade look onto the exotic stats later on.

If they are needed then for goodness sake put them in the collectibles just like the watchwork sprockets otherwise they are taking up valuable bank and bag space….

Judging from the battle-map poster released today, it looks like Escape and Attack events will coexist. It makes sense for the assault to occur alongside continuing rescue operations.
Also, I have a feeling that the Escape/Attack content will remain in place until the start of Season 3 in the spring, similar to how Wintersday ran for two months. (The ending of the blitz and progression of LA to its next activity phase is unlikely to be implemented as a non-Living Story release, unless they close off the map entirely.)

Hopefully we will have something to use the 50000 blade pieces on, that we each will have by the end of this…

Sure you can only have 250 /500 in collectibles anyway, so would still take bank/bag space,
I’m just using an alt for storage XD.

It is pretty frustrating how there are systems already there in place for managing bulk items, forge and crafting materials, and yet we keep getting reinventions of the wheel.

I got 1000 for collectible storage but good idea to ship the rest to alts to hold.

I would also like a response from the devs. Would really like to have a couple more weeks to collect these things!
