It seems like the only purpose blade shards serve is going towards the back piece. Not everyone wants one, and I’ve already got a Tempered set on the second day the patch was out, and just pile them up. You also can’t sell them or vender them either. Do they serve some other purpose than going towards the spinal blades?

I don’t think they do, but they’re useful for altoholics like myself, cheap leveling backpieces… cheap exotic backpieces with the choice of stats… I don’t think I’ll be able to hoard enough blades tbh but I can see why folks might not have a use…

also they dont soulbind so thats a plus

Let us turn them into ninja bundles so we can throw them at things. o3o

Maybe one day they’ll be used as ammo fired from the Tempered Blades. .-.

Would be nice if I could sell them, personally. I’m making one set just for my collection, but that will only take me about 500 Blades. I’m already closing in on that number and it’s only day 3!

From what I have seen, there are recipes coming to provide the different coloured packs, apparently named after the asuran schools (synergetic, static and dynamic). I suspect that more of the blades will be needed should you wish to make use of the colour process.

Getting the spinal blades to ascended takes almost 1000 shards, I think that’s enough of a sink!

Even if it was 100 blades = 1 obby I’d be all over it. Right now I have about 1200 blades in my inventory/bank with no real use for them. I dislike the looks of the new backpack and i already have ascended backpieces on all but 2 of my characters and even they’ll be getting Light of Dwayna or Shadow of Grenth due to aesthetic reasons.

I don’t think they’re useful for anything other than the backpiece. Wish people could trade them, as I need to make several and can’t farm the shards fast enough!

Just keep them incase you want a cheap and useful ascended backpiece for alts.

925 is 4 stacks, so you’re not losing a lot of space.

That ratio would be way to good. Remember one shard is worth 2100 karma plus access to balthasar temple.

I guess I meant a blade shard conversion to obsidian, not necessarily 1:1. But yeah, 1:1 would be too good. 100:1 might work though, as a previous poster suggested.

I guess 100:1 would be fair, but I would prefer if Anet added more reasons to actually save the people of LA instead of farming bags.

Heirlooms can be traded for Obsidian Shards, but those are too coveted because of the selfless/selfish potions. Bladeshards for Obbies would be nice.

Still, Blade Shards will need a sink. I get tons of them each run thru LA so even with the couple sets of backpacks I plan to make for alts, I’m gonna have a couple stacks left over at the end.

selfless poitions are already hard to get, this would make them too much easier to get. leave it as-is. blade shards (but in stacks of 20-50) to obsidion shards is something i find agreeable, tho

And you can make more backpieces too. Or are you strictly a one man show and leave all those other character slots empty?

I have 8 level 80 characters and 4 of them didn’t have an ascended backpiece yet. So I have more than enough sink for shards.

I made my Ascended tempered blades on day two of the new content, and my math might be a little off but I calculated it to 925 shards (and a fat hole in the pocket unless you got your 500 leatherworker to make them).

I have another two stacks of these and debating on what to do with them. I have an excess of backpieces from other LS’s already which are collected for alt’s so I really don’t need more.
