Escape LA - appreciation thread
I personally loved the chaos of this update. They did a great job of capturing the atmosphere of a city losing in a siege. I really felt like I was in there. This is war people and there are no rules in war.

Well said Hobbs!
Oh and a +1 to the OP too.
The cut scene gave me chills. I had a choice of logging into a toon in LA or one of my other toons. So I chose the one in LA, remembering that I was at the tailoring station before I logged out before the attack. I was quite apprehensive watching the destruction in the cut scene, wondering what will happen when I get logged in. Hobbs is right above- chaos!
This event reminds me not only of the Searing in Prophecies, but also the Battle of Lions Arch in GW1’s War in Kryta (before it got nerfed, when there were hundreds and hundreds of White Mantle, Jade Armors, and Jade Bows vs. your 8 member party). BoLA finale in WiK was seriously epic before it got toned down, and “plain” epic after the nerf. The sheer scale of chaos and destruction here, I believe, is worthy of being called “epic”!

If Anet is serious about their “living story” they will have Scarlet Lazarus the Dire destory Lions arch. Force players to use other cities until LA is rebuilt.

It’s one patch closer to the content and balance patch!
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
Like Hobbs said about. The shear chaos of it all.
I was afraid that this wasn’t going to be all that impactful. That is was only going to be some mobs showing up in some areas of LA.
My fears of that were swept away during that movie scene, and was only reinforced when I saw everything else involved.
The refugee camps, the dialogue… even the sight and sounds of LA when you are standing on the other side of the gateway in Gendarran Fields.
And then when you actually get to storm into the city and take the fight back to Scarlets forces. I thought, at the very least, Fort Marriner would have still been standing and holding the line…
Nope. Scarlet came in and hit the place like a sledgehammer… Just like she should have.
Kudos to you devs on this one.
… The human race would never have to worry about be oppressed again.”
I think trolls should have their computers smashed. ’Its all part of the game. U mad bro?’
Love the cinematic, and the grim reality of this patch. Like, if you stand at the refugee camp at Vigil Keep. You can see a Charr there recently pulled from the disaster, aid worker tells him everything will be fine, but then whispers to the doc that he only has an hour to live.
Also, the zerg gameplay feels at home in this patch, despite the negativity it’s gotten. This is Scarlet’s Endgame. She has all her cards on the table: Molten, Ather, Twisted, and Toxic. Assaults from underground, from the air, from the sea, ect. This is NOT a one or five man hero job. This needs an army. Zerg gameplay captures that perfectly.
All and all, love the patch Anet, amazing job! Can’t wait to see what Scarlet is digging up from Old Lions Arch with that drill.
Ah! A positive thread!
Things I do like about this update is -
- The complete and utter chaos of the event!
- The fact that the atmosphere went a bit darker. Sure I love well-placed humor every now and then, but this patch feels much darker and far more serious.
- The Scarlet Arch of the Living Story is finally coming together. I’ve noticed boss creeps from the molten dungeon, to the flame tornadoes from the same dungeon! Everything has been building up to this event and it feels like it.
- The new NPC heroes are all part of the event, fighting side-by-side with us!
- The zergs are perfectly fine in my opinion. This is a battle for a main city and it requires hordes of people to attack and save the population of the city.
- My most favorite – Buying Obsidian Shards without RNG, Fractals or Karma!

ive not been a big ls fan but this sums up the patch for me. i like the event and anet does smaller event better but the ls was too big a project they should have done smaller stories with more impact. im hoping next series of ls(or ls 2) is rebuilding lions arch
These ls patches have been getting better each time, I’m having lots of fun
I appreciate how my home server’s LA event isn’t constantly stuck and not working…. oh wait
Things I loved about this patch, hard to find anything positive really I liked the Heal-o-Tron and Gnashblade interactions, quite fun to listen to. most other things are just mediocre and the zerg gameplay unappealing.
The best thing about this patch is that we only have one more update till the end of the rubbish Scarlet story, that can not come soon enough. Hopefully season two will have better characters and a better concept, the crazy twig and ridiculous alliances are laughably bad.
