Guild Wars 2

From my understanding Evon Gnashblade is the leader of the Black Lion Trading Company who lost election to the captain council. He was recently conscripted as a quartermaster to the lion guard under emergency order 14.

With that said, why is he called this in LA?

Compared to not by vigil keep?

or am i missing something…

Edit: Well apparently he has had Captain attached to his name (according to the wiki) since the the Cutthroat Politics event. Except at vigil keep.

If that is his name in the Lions Arch instance, then why is there some previous screenshot-ed dialog that shows just his name?

Does Anet, just keep on flinging titles around and stripping them off of NPCs at random?

Well, I guess the Vigil keep is before he becomes “Quartermaster Evon Gnashblade”
But why would he have the title Captain. That is a bit puzzling.
It appears some people hold that title in the Liongaurd http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Lionguard.
The real question, however, is if the evacuation instance is supposed to be before or after Gnashblade’s deputizing.
The timelines is all screwed up since everything is happening in a strange repeated loop in there…

I think to be on the captain’s council, you have to be a captain of a ship. Apparently, Evon is just that.

But he’s not a captain in the military sense.

He is captain of a ship he recently purchased to be eligible to run for office. Although, since the basic definition of captain is to be a leader, then couldn’t he be Captain of the Black Lion Trading Company? No ship needed.
As for vigil keep, either it was missed when making the NPC, or his conscription into the Lion Guard lost him the honorific.
It was always my impression that the dialog taking place in the outlaying zones happens after the evacuation. Making it a repeatable event is a little weird for the one-time NPCs, but works well in the sense of having to repeatedly return to rescue more survivors.

Evon is sometimes referred to as Captain Evon Gnashblade as he is also the captain of a ship. (This ship has not been named, and it’s unclear as to whether he has been a captain for a long time, or he simply bought a ship for the purposes of making himself eligible to run for the Captain’s Council.)

However, Evon is not part of the Lionguard, except when he got drafted into the organisation during the events of “Battle for Lion’s Arch”, where he got assigned the rank of Quartermaster. Thus, Evon has two separate titles in two separate organisations.
