Found Heirlooms - Is there enough time?

So after some thinking, I was wondering how much time do we have to get both Selfless Potions and Thoughtless Potions. Both require 250 Found Heirlooms, which seem to be found through both rubble piles (once per account) and for each successful tier of citizens rescued (Tiers are set at 100, 300, 600, 1000, and 1500 citizens rescued*).
However, I am worried that I won’t have as much time to actually get 250 of these heirlooms, as most overflows I get into save usually enough for me to get 2 heirlooms. Supposing the content and merchant are up only for 2 weeks, if I get ~40 from rubble and need 460 more for both potions, I’d need to enter 230 times into the LA instance on average. Even if I went for only 1 potion, I’d need to enter 105 times into the instance to get it. If the content was up for 2 weeks, that would mean I’d enter the instance 8 times a day for one potion or 17 times a day for both potions. Obviously, the total amount of hours spent on this game shouldn’t average 8 hours a day, let alone 17 hours a day.
Anet, if this content is for only 2 weeks, please adjust the prices of your event items. All of these are account bound things, and I’d hate to think you really expect us to grind our hearts out to get items like this. I really would like the halo and devil horns to be both obtainable on my character, but the amount of time needed to get this for an average player really sucks.
P.S. This assumes rubble does not reset once a day per account. Should that be possible, then it is much more possible to get them.
*This was taken directly from the release notes, but I do believe the tiers are incorrect. I’ve gotten rewards at 100 and 500 so far.

Rubble resets every hour
You cannot get heirlooms from the rubble once you acquired it on another character (or same) the previous hour.

You’re right.
Probably resets daily then, would be impossible to get otherwise.

Please read the entire post. That has been mentioned. Also, 36 piles of rubble found so far: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1yb6sq/rubble_locations/
We will know if heirlooms are daily on reset later today.
Anyone know if heirlooms can be acquired on other characters?

Seriousely… if you get… well say… 35 heirlooms a day…
Which means for me, that I need at LEAST 3 hours to gather all the spots while totally ignoring events… while I still need blades… —> 2 more hours…
Equals 5 hours per day, FOR SEVEN DAYS…
Anet, could you PLEASE increase the droprate of the heirlooms in the lootbags?
This is impossible plus NO FUN AT ALL.
And I’m talking about ONE potion. I just said goodbye to the 2nd one…
Not to mention that there are people like me who are in a great disadvantige in the first place if they can’t see very well. It’s a true hell in LA for me. It feels more like dying through just to get what I want… And that… for almost all the playing time I have… yeah well… very funny..

Have you considered that vendor will be there for 2-4 weeks? Why is seven days so outrageous?

Unbelievable. They just keep amping the grind factor to the point where this game is like playing a second job.
Which is why I’m choosing not to participate. A mediocre reward is not worth the headache.

Why are people exaggerating how long it would take to collect 30+ heirlooms? I mean really. It takes about 20 minutes to do once you know where they are which isn’t difficult to remember after your second run. I’m pretty sure the rubble locations reset with the daily due to their drop date from bags.

It’s doable if rubble resets daily or is per-character instead of per-account. It’s not doable if each rubble is once per account. That’s basically what it boils down to.
EDIT: I just tested and the rubble are once per account. We do not yet know if they reset on the daily timer, but let’s hope so.

I think we are meant to choose between the halo or horns. The option is there to allow us to get both, but I am pretty sure the intention was to have the player choose one based on their style. Was your concern saving the citizens or leaving them and getting revenge instead?
With that in mind, I amount needed and time doesn’t bother me.
The bit that does bother me is that a good percentage of players won’t see it that way and they will take up space in the instance, ignoring events and just rushing around for rubble.
IMO the number required should be reduced by at least 50, the nodes should be cut down to maybe 1/3rd of what they are now and placed near out of the way caches of citizens to rewards roamers, and events should give heirlooms as completion rewards. Two for Miasma events, one for escorts.
That makes it more productive for people to participate in instance rather than ignore it and have a negative impact. Should someone be able to get a halo after ignoring all of the citizens that need help and defense in favor of looting the remains of the city for valuables?

Events scale so those searching for the rubble locations won’t affect you. The proportion of those players compared to those doing events will be relatively small.

No. You can search the rubbles on a different overflow but will not get anything if you had already searched it that day.

If they wanted us to have only ONE of both tonics they could have made it a choice for the meta, or restrict buying to ONE of choice ONLY.
I can see NO reason why they had to make it a grind like hell job.
If you’re through with it in 20 mins… well congratulations! I’ve spend ONE HOUR for nothing because I can’t find anything. Either that or I’m constantly dying and dying and dying again because I seem to be alone searching for them.
THis is the worst grind ever… -.-
I’ve spent 5 hours in this maze now, for 25(!) heirlooms… Yeah…!

First of all, they won’t change the cost of the rewards, look at what was done with the candy corn – they nearly completely removed the nodes from the open map and they put up there that you needed (trying to remember now) 10k or so candy corn to get certain items.
Granted they did put a candy corn node in our home instance, but I haven’t seen any information as yet that there will be a “rubble” pile in our home instance, or that the horns are going to be available after the event like the candy corn vendor is still selling the pails and the mini-thorn.
Second, according to Dulfy (the only place I have searched yet) it says that these rubble piles reset every day when the dailies reset. So effectively you can hunt it once per 24 hours per account (though one day you could do 2 times, but you won’t get to early the next day)
If you consider the cost being 250 and the “minimum” number that are guaranteed (I don’t know if they can fail or not) that is 8.3 days of running the rubble piles and not getting any from drops. I have only done a portion of one event and I have 5 heirlooms and never searched a rubble pile so this is not nearly as difficult as the candy corn was and they didn’t change the candy corn “cost” no matter how much people complained.
Good luck though. I don’t see a lot of point to them, but some people do and will want them, just too bad you can’t sell the heirlooms like you can candy corn.

They don’t…
And well… 7 or 8 days wouldn’t be the problem, if I wouldn’t need hours to find these things at all. and that is, while ignoring ANY event. I need the blades too, so that means extra hours, if I will ever be done with the heirlooms. Plus the repaircosts for dying and running the same way again again and again… minus the fun, because it’s no fun at all.

They are permanent account bound potions that, when used, give you either a halo effect or a devil horns effect over your character’s head. You can see images of both here and here.
Also, some things I’ve confirmed:
We do NOT yet know if they reset daily, and we won’t for another… 7 hours.

Just got confirmation, Rubble are daily reset:
Awesome list, thanks for bringing these up!
- 1-3 are legitimate issues that we are already working to fix, and yes, they affect the main server maps and not the overflows.
- 4 – So the defend events won’t run if the Scarlet Alliances are currently holding the rally camps. If you see the crosses swords event at the camps, that means a defend even has already run and failed – you’ll have to succeed the recapture event before another defend event will start. If you are seeing it work out differently, let me know!
- 5 – Rubble Piles will offer Found Heirlooms only once per day.
Go forth and collect, friends! That means we can get 36 heirlooms a day for 14 days, which is 504 heirlooms… Just enough for both potions. Don’t miss a day! (Or do some LA events to make up for those you miss)

Strange, maybe i got confused by using dulfy guide and accidentaly found a rubble that wasn’t on her map.
Anyway, what are these potions? The notes says ‘halo or horns’, so it’s just a skin or something floating above your head?

I simply looked up the dulfy site, saw that there was an achievement guide for the heirlooms already in place, followed that. Took me less than two consecutive runs to get all the required 30 heirlooms from different places.
So to answer the question, if you’re devoted enough to finding them all and can go without some zerg loot for a run or two, then yes, it’s very possible.

Events scale so those searching for the rubble locations won’t affect you. The proportion of those players compared to those doing events will be relatively small.
Events do scale, but several achievements require no failures of their respective events. The more people farming/grinding rubble, the less likely it is for the map to get those achievements. Without a doubt, the maps spawned after server reset will have a much smaller chance of completing those achievements.
The achievements are well designed but the horns/ halos are not. Why does how we spend the currency matter more than how we get it? How does choosing one vendor over another reveal us as angels or devils? If the devs wanted to provide a way to display player agency/intent, they failed. If they wanted to provide a decorative item that clashes with their achievements, they succeeded.

You didn’t read the second (last) sentence of my post. With the new back pieces, although ugly, people will be doing events more than ever to farm the materials for them.

Two perspectives don’t have to be mutually exclusive. The proportion you describe will shift towards farming rubble after server reset and continue to shift in general as more people get the back piece because farming materials for it are not time gated while materials for the horn/halo are time gated.
The backpiece isn’t to my taste either, thankfully selling iron is.

Except it’s highly unlikely that there will be enough people farming rubble to have an impact on events. You’re talking about something that could be done within 30 minutes only once a day.
Events will remain scaled down so smaller groups can do them still just as easily. I’ve also quite often seen many people afk on the map or running away from the events as well. Obviously they’re not contributing and yet the events still succeed.

Probably already been said but:
Dulfy guide for rubbles, currently 38.
Resets daily = 38 per day = 6.6 days.
I gathered all of them in a single run.
Can easilly get both potions and some other stuff before the event is over AND do alot of other stuff in the game while waiting for reset.

I have 100 Found Heirlooms atm. Averaging 50 every day it will take 5 days to get.
So far there is 38 known locations for the pile of rubbles. Ran all 38 piles in 33 minutes with my guild party. Just doing that everyday after reset, you will have 250 in 7 days. Even if you wanted both the angel and devil tonic it would take 2 weeks, which most events run that long.
Also, keep in mind you get those pink bags at each tier you LA event reaches for citizens rescued. So, when I’m making dinner or messing around the house, I afk in the event and still get 2 to 3 of those bags. I loved afk’ing in LA pre-event, now I just get goodie bags when I do it.
I believe this event is do able, but it takes a bit of effort, which I like. I don’t want to see everyone going around with a cool item unless they put in the time.

Wow you guys will literally find anything to complain about, There are 36 rubble daily in the instance, im able to get all 36 in a single instance, the event is 2 weeks long, thats 36 X 14 = 504 BOOM your two potions right there, but wait most servers make it to around 600 people saved that means 3 rescue bags = another 3 heirlooms. 3 X 14 = 42
All up thats 546 heirlooms . so seriously stop complaining about it taking hours and hours to get all these heirlooms, just log in once a day jump into a single instance and use the god kitten dulphy map.

Its not as cool if everyone has one. Its a lot more valuable to show off when its not as common. Stop complaining that you can’t get everything in the game. Sometimes pieces are there to be not as common.
