Well now that LA is going down in a blaze of glory what will happen to Dragon Bash and the Halloween festivals?

My theory is that we will take back LA at some point and rebuild it. This will probably be in the first living story plot of the second season.

I actually hope we don’t. Living Story is supposed be about breaking the status quo. Having Lion’s Arch destroyed permanently or even relocated would certainly do that.

Living World.

I sincerely hope the festivals are gone. You know. Living World. Nothing is off the Table. Change. Consequences. blah blah blah. All of the stirring reasons people use to point out that destroying LA is just “peachy”.

My eventual hope is that each and every player so happy to see content destroyed or removed loses some part of the game they care about as well.

Nothing is off the table.. see?

They could just easily move some festivals to the other cities, such as Divinity’s Reach or Hoelbrak.

It would give an excuse to see the other racial cities too… sooooo much wasted potential there in my opinion.

Jubilee and Halloween in DR, Dragon Bash in Hoelbrak…. and if we had Meatoberfest in the Black Citadel life would be good.

I thought the festivals where there to give the devs to work on other things. This would make them have to create new content to keep having them. right? That would be counterproductive one would think.

They’re not going to be starting off from scratch. They will still have assets and models to re-use, such as gift dolyaks, snowmen and patches, as well as the special game modes. The only thing they will have to focus on is implementing these assets in new environments

The main content for halloween and wintersday are instanced in the mad realm and tixx’s blimp. They would need to move npcs and add some decoration to other cities, but it is doable. Infact, wintersday may be the easiest to move of the two, they did the traveling blimp gimmick for the first wintersday.

The Mad King could almost stay in the charred remains of LA, it kind of suits him really. I can see him walking through the wreckage cackling, telling jokes to the newly raised spirits of those who died during the attack.

I don’t get why so many people are hung up on LA being destroyed and never coming back.
Apparently, it was important enough to rebuild the first time it was destroyed. Heck, just look at it’s location, it’s central to our current area of the world, its nearly equidistant to major racial capitals, and it’s on the water, there’s no reason not to rebuild it if we get the chance. That would just be intentionally not rebuilding for the sake of trying (terribly) to make things feel different.

People talk about Scarlet not making sense, but not rebuilding LA in any way would be just about the least sensical thing yet if it were to happen, both as an in-universe matter, and for the sake of gameplay and community.

I still think they are moving the hub to Southsun.

some men aren’t looking for anything logical…
some men just want to watch the world burn.

I had actually given that a thought, as Southsun is nearly as good of a location for a central city, though it does lack land routes.

That would also open up Ruined LA to be a Tengu starting area, if they were so inclined, and it would line up well with the other maps.

That said, they’d have to have a darned good reason not to rebuild LA in it’s current place as I said in my previous comment.

The won#t be festinals so soo anymore in LA once its derstroyed..

Its finally time that the other towns get attention and that the towns get improved with features

  • The stupid FotM Entrance gets finally removed out of L.A. No Dungeon Entrance of any kind should be in a Town. all Dungeons should be entered from outside of towns in normal explorable Maps. like all other normal Dungeons.. so why shold FotM be any kind of exception ??
  • It gives Anet the chance to kill off that stipid Minigame NPC and put all Minigames back into the towns they belong to.. Keg Brawl for example should be playable only while you are in Hoelbrak. Somethign like Polymok, once it gets FINALLY implemented should be also just only playable in Rata Sum, same like SAB is a Rata Sum only Attraction which is a reason, why people go visit Rata Sum to go play in the Super Adventure Box there

L.A could get also completely rebuild somewhere else. theres no rule for Naet that says that the same map area must be used to rebuild some day LA. there again.
ANet could just also expand the Map of Southsun Cove and use it to rebuild Neo Lion’s Arch there or maybe a new town with a completely new name to show that this rebuilding is some kind of new chapter of life for everyone.

We had already at the beginning of the living story the plans of the consortium to turn southsun cove into a tourist place

Whatever Anet will do, it will change definetely Tyria alot and these changes wil lbe good for GW2, because they open up alot of new potential to improve significantly the game and making each town more equal…because over the past year, everything was always about Lion’s Arch only and that kittened off really alot of players, that ANet gave to the other towns absolutely nearly no attention, because that totally wasn’t the point, what alot of players expected from Anet and what they announced all for how nice all of the towns should be to visit permanently and to ever find something new in them thats interesting to visit them from time to time again and again…

But over the past year, the only lively towns were just only Lions arch and Divinities Reach, whereas only in L.A. happened mostly all events and everythign else where Ghost Towns.
This absolutely needs top change and the only way how I also see that this is possible, is only by blowing up Lion’s Arch fundamentally and not rebuildign it directly again and also eventually buildign it up somewhere else

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

I’m sure LA will get rebuilt.

I expect it to be officially “reborn” around the time of Dragon Bash. That way they can change that festival to being about the re-rebirth of LA, and not mention the dragons any more. Why? Because this storyline is either ignoring them, or LA is about to get leveled because of them. Either way, Dragon Bash as a big holiday just doesn’t make as much sense any more.

delicate, brick-like subtlety.
