I know there’s been hate directed toward the epilogue instance at the Dead End, but I actually liked it. Braham, Rox, Marjory, Kasmeer and Taimi are great characters and I enjoy watching their interactions. Their dialogue is well written and it was nice to see the camraderie between them.

I should clarify though; I was wishing for some explanation for Scarlet’s motivations or a few facts that would’ve made the overall plot make sense, but I knew that was too much to ask for. In short, it wasn’t a perfect ending but at least it preserved the good things about the living story (i.e., the characters that it introduced, minus Scarlet).

I do hope whatever content we get going forward, whether it continues to be living story-based or expansion based, that these characters are recurring.

I like the new characters a lot, too. And as I said in the other thread, the romance between Kas and Jory was quite well-written, comparing other games and how they handle romance. Especially that it wasn’t pushed into our faces until they knew us better.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Yes, but I skipped the grinding and zerging and decided to just kill Scarlet in the instance. I wanted to see if Arenanet managed to put a satisfying end to the story.

The verdict? Not so much. But like I said in my original post, at least they didn’t make the mistake of killing off these awesomely written principal characters at the hands of Scarlet. That would’ve just made me sad.

Now at least they can go forward and be involved in something better.

I feel sorry for yah, you skipped one of the best fights the game has to offer.
when I 1st logged in and got to stomp scarlet straight away I was like you gotta be kidding me I was disappointed, than I did it the right way and man that was epic.

The idea that you need all 3 buffs from all the asura colleges to deal decent damage was genius it kept the beserkers like me at bay.

the whole fight was just very well designed and properly thought out, going forward I’d love to see them evolve the game mechanics like this again.

EDIT
Tbh, the whole Idea of allowing people to skip the fight and go straight to stomping scarlet just because they had an aetherblade spinal blades back piece did NOT need to be in there
it cheapens and marginalizes the content.

Like the dead end bar Epilog dialog. The dialogs between Taimy and Braham are funny. They have opposite characters, but get along well.

Interesting from the dialogs (dont read the spoilers if you still need to go to the dead ends bar)

The visit of Marjory’s sister Belinda (who is a seraph) was interesting. Bet we will see more of her in the next Living world season as she talks about going into the Brisban Wildlands for a mission/investigation.

Um…huh? Everyone has an opinion I suppose, but the characters & story in GW2 (especially the LS) is such a disaster it’s taken a game with a lore I loved & obliterated it with extreme prejudice.

I have to agree on the love story, it came out of nowhere and makes absolutely no sense
it’s more like they didn’t know what to and shoehorn that in there.

the only word I have to describe most of the LS story is: AWKWARD

I liked the bar scene. It was a good epilogue. You can see how the heroes have bonded, and they managed to bring me into their group too. Nothing groundbreaking but it fit the calm after the storm really well.

It wasn’t for lack of trying. When I fought the assault knights my client crashed every. single. time. I made a thread about it in the bugs forum, you can read it here. There was simply no way for me to even get to the hologram fight.

Tbh, the whole Idea of allowing people to skip the fight and go straight to stomping scarlet just because they had an aetherblade spinal blades back piece did NOT need to be in there

Well, if they hadn’t given me that option, I would’ve never been able to kill scarlet at all, so I’m sort of glad. However, had they actually released content that was bug free I would probably agree with you.

I find it amusing to link “You can have your opinion, but it sucks completely.”

IMO, Gw2 hasn’t done terrible with the lore, and the characters are decent. Maybe not the best, maybe could use improvements in certain areas, but decent.

I think, this was great thing what ANet add in this LS patch. It was all for those players whom Computer can not handle Knight fights or hologram fights. Now everybody had chanse to see end of the story. Everybody had possibility to kill Scarlet. Thank you for this ANet. I hope they will add this kind of shortcut to the end of the LS 2 in every patch

I enjoyed the living story as well. I missed some parts over the course of the year, but overall I have enjoyed it and like seeing what was coming next. Braham and Rox weren’t that interesting to me, but I really took a liking to Marjory and Kasmeer. Jory has that 1920 detective sort of personality, I love how she talks. Kas has a pretty figure and sometimes ditzy persona that hides someone who is really clever thinking, caring, and determined to do what’s right. It reminds me of a friend I have who is the same, save for the kissing girls part. The relationship came after getting to know the two individually, and for two strong characters whom I already liked I can only approve, regardless of gender.
Was the story the most awesomest ever? No. Was it interesting and compelling enough to keep me checking for what’s new each update? Absolutely.
I also really like being part of a world that changes and evolves. Every other game I can put in and it will be exactly the same as it was ten years ago. This one I can log in and catch up with the characters and see what locations have changed. It’s like taking a vacation in Tyria.
The voice acting, the music, the art all have been great. I am still playing this game regularly more than a year after buying it. No other game has done that and this one doesn’t even charge me for updates.
So despite the hate, I enjoy the game and look forward to seeing what happens with Mordy and Belinda in season 2!

Liked it in general. Only thing I disliked was not having a “didn’t like killing but it had to be done” option in the dialogue. The rest was pretty cool. I would have liked it without the free goodies at the end too.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.
