Anyone feel headache after farming in LA under attack for few runs?
May be the screen is a little too red.

Actually, I did. On my first run, I went to get the drill PoI and the spinning water made me so sick I actually had to stop playing. Granted, I was a bit tired when I started but I’ve not felt like that in years. I’m avoiding the thing as much as I can now, and I’ve mostly limited my playing time in the area (there other reasons for that too though).

Yes, too much red, but also the event itself is kind of boring, even though “it’s not a real zerg event”…
actually I didn’t find any problems with it I found It fun the only problem that I had with it was that it didn’t have a token system for the Molten back piece just the rare chance. please ArenaNet no more rare chance to get awesome things.

I’m not the biggest fan of the ambiance of the zone, as I find it difficult to see things on my monitor, but I think it fits, things on fire, a deadly miasma (my asthma, buh dum tss) building up, makes sense that it would be hard to see.
As for headaches or adverse effects physically, I’ve had none yet personally. Then again I’ve not run more than 3 in a row yet, and I’ve only done that twice now.

I get headaches when there’s too much going on in a game, because I’m trying to keep track of it all. Every little movement could be something I have to watch out for. It’s one reason why I don’t team up very often.
And yes, I get that from this update. Even if I take off alone, I tend to encounter other people within LA, and it soon becomes a group effort to do whatever’s in the area. I’m sure that all the red and messed up air doesn’t help any.
I’m not going to say it’s a bad update for that, just saying that it does it to me.

I didn’t get headaches, but eye fatigue… if your monitor supports it, try a “cooler” color setting – the “warmer” ones accentuated the red and I think contributed to the strain.

Keep an eye on your frame rate as you might be getting a slight strobing effect occurring. Also noticing you said, “a few runs”. Please, in between runs go look outside a window and walk about for a little while. You are more than likely too stressed and focused for too long.

I like it and I think it fits the story but after two runs I had the feeling I was on pc for 4hrs.
Went to do pvp and the feeling was gone. I actually carried on playing pvp for 4hrs

Looking at a 29 inch LED while lounging in a leather chair and eating Doritos is too hard for your body? Suck it up, buttercup.

I found that I hate fighting in zergs, not because I think it’s lame, it’s because the frame rate hurts my eyes. Now I go off on my own or in a small group to save citizens.

It’s from the horrible frames per second you get when running with a large zerg in an area that is not properly optimized.
My PC usually runs the game between 60-90 FPS, but fighting in Lion’s Arch gives me 18 FPS if I’m lucky. This really shouldn’t be.

I too get headaches in LA from time to time, not everytime and it doesnt matter if its many runs or just one or two.
There are spots around all of Kryta wich give me headache, where suddenly all is a bit sluggish, the coulours gets kinda fluffy and its really hurts my eyes. These are spots with very clear borders, they are there always, no matter time of the day or if I’m alone or not and they dont move.
On the top of my head I remember a few in southsun, some in frostgorge and I’ve encountered a couple in ascalonia.

I used to get headaches from eye fatigue playing games on a monitor. After an hour I could really feel it.
Many people mentioned to buy Gunnar Optics but I don’t want to spend money on those and I hate wearing things on my face!
I found a free program called f.lux which adjusts the colour of your monitor depending on the time of day. Ever since I started using it I don’t suffer from headaches or eye fatigue any more.
I don’t want to post links as I do not know if it’s part of the forum conduct but google is your friend

Yeah, but I’m brain impaired (photosensitive epileptic), so I expect it and shouldn’t be used as a basis for comparison. I could probably do with an eye sight test soon too. Still, when it bugs other people, it has me thinking maybe there’s something up with it.
Any of you guys watched Cloverfield or similar and found you just couldn’t? Or have problems with colours out of the game, but still on the monitor (or even TV, or similar screens)? Or has it only just occurred in this update?
EDIT! I’m saying "yeah" in my first para in a direct response to the OP’s question. Edited to say this because it looked rather odd.

I have to second Flux as quite a great program for free. I have used it for over a year now and my eye strain/headaches from extensive computer time has gone down significantly.
While resting the eyes is still very benefiicial, this program definitely cuts down on the glare that you get, especially at night. It might be a little strange at first, but you get used to it quickly.
As for having headaches from LA event, I can’t say it feels any worse then usual for me. It is VERY red, for sure. And I think the red/darker atmosphere plays up the effects on all the spells going off. Which could put out more glare to strain your eyes.
Either that or just take more frequent breaks and close your eyes when you can during the 10~ min down time.

I have the issue where I get dizzy with a lot of motion blur (Thief dagger skills cause it, the old PS2 games Primal and Bloodrayne did it too). I get a similar effect of queasiness from all the red hue in LA.
Add to this the issue that at certain times of the day, the sun shines onto my screen and if I close the curtains… well, they are red!
I can never play more than 2 runs back to back in LA.

All video game causes motion sickness, the intensity depends on the in-game content as well as your physical tolerance. I haven’t checked the TOS, but I assumed you have been warned like you have in all other video games. It is player’s responsibility to determine the healthy amount of playtime.

I tend not to play the LW herd-fests precisely because the particle spam eye-sore can induce a headache. So I cannot confirm that the LA events would do so — but why should the LA herd-fest be different than the other herd-fests?

Playing GW2 on a 29" ultra-wide monitor ftw!

A bit but I think that is mostly from having focus on looking for citizens. If I just farm stuff it’s not an issue. Nowhere near as bad as fighting the megadestroyer and people decide to immobilize it in the lava. -_-

+1 for F.lux
Set it at 4000K if default is too red and make sure you have GW2 running as a window.
