Why is it that the average player can not get the Mega Achievements unless they are in a large guild we buy stuff in this game to and it used to be fun but Anet in discriminating against the small guilds and average players ….. this new update for the Knights is just wrong…..

It’s call coordination. Everyone is capable of organizing. You just need to put in time and effort.

Actually, you need good players too. Players that understand simple concepts like how to keep up 25 stacks of might, when to use what skills, how to use ele weapons, when to dodge, how to keep up a stability rotation, what food to use best, what extra buffs to get…

So no, coordination on its own doesnt give you kitten. You can coordinate all day long if you have only players that cant dodge and only autoattack on your overflow.

What in the world are you talking about here? I got it on my first try, and every try since. I’m in a personal guild. I have been in random Overflows since the event started. They succeed regularly. Don’t blame ANet because you’ve been having bad luck.

You don’t need all the achievements to get the meta-achievement, you can use dailies instead. In fact you could do nothing but daily achievements (which are often things like ‘kill 10 Aertherblades in LA’) and get the meta achievement that way.

I’m in a guild of 50 people, haven’t played the event with them at all and haven’t been able to get onto my servers main map (not that I’ve really tried) but I managed to get in to kill Scarlet and I’m 2 achievements away from the meta achievement.

I don’t feel like doing any of the achievements I’m missing so I’ll do two dailies (probably tonight and Saturday, depending on what they are) and get it that way.

I had a small guild, but wanted to do wurms and Teq. I banded together with others on my server to form a larger guild alliance. If the group you run with is incapable of organizing due to numbers you need to look to yourselves and not Arena Net for how to improve the situation.

If you don’t want to do organized content, that’s fine; I don’t particularly enjoy sPvP, but I’m not about to ask Arena Net to remove it and its associated achievements. Think about how the sPvP and WvW players feel every release. Patch after patch they do not get meta achievement tracks to grind away on, yet they play because they actually enjoy their respective gameplay types.

That said, there are plenty of achievements that can be done in the patch that don’t require a large guild and still will allow you to get the meta and view the ending dungeon. I have not unlocked four of the achievements, don’t plan on getting them all as I’m not some ravenous MMO locust who thinks I need everything, and will likely get the meta tonight when doing the daily. I do not consider myself an above average player, and I did not need to get together with my guild alliance to get most of the achievments. A group of four of us and some solo play was all that was needed. You’re vastly overstating the effort needed to complete the meta.

Since when was coordination only applicable to large groups? Last I checked, coordination is possible between any two or more people. BS being about coordination, very little LS content has required any, it’s a stat gate to soak up hardcore players time and money because ANet can’t balance their content or handle the economy, and unfortunately it affects casual players in the worst way.

That said, this new event (just like most previous LS content) is easily completed by (TADAH!) a giant group of pure power DPS players. No strategy and no coordination required, just bring knights or zerkers and maximize your dodge uptime. Because screw everyone that likes playing anything interesting…

You only need 15 of the 18 achis to complete the meta anyway, most of the hard coordinated stuff can be skipped for easy stuff you can do on your own. I completed this meta and the last one by myself within 2 days of release. Its much too easy tbh.

First off, what is with your first paragraph? The player you quoted said nothing of the sort but you’re just twisting what he did say so that you have something easier to argue against? In the future, please do not “put words into people’s mouths” or distort their arguments for your own benefit.

In regards to your second paragraph, I’m assuming you have never done Teq and Great Jungle Wurm. You obviously lack the knowledge that a great deal of coordination and strategy are needed for those.

He opened his post to the op with, and I quote ’It’s called coordination’, the OPs post addressed how large of group this required regardless of coordination. So how would that make my first paragraph, entirely about how coordination should be sufficient no matter the group size, non-applicable? Learn to read before criticizing others writing.

I’ve been in the Tequatl and the Wurm fight, part of several groups of players able to comply with every fight mechanic excellently, in one case nigh-perfectly. Their mechanics are no more difficult than those of any existing boss, more players are just required to complete them simultaenously. Some would say, myself and the OP, too many players. One of the largest selling points of this game pre-release was the idea of scaling content.

However yes, you are right that we didn’t complete the event in spite of executing all mechanics perfectly, clearing mobs at a constant rate without going down, and constantly DPSing the boss. Why? Because we lacked the right builds to pass the mindless DPS check.

Look at how the wurm was first completed, the order from the TTS guilds was for not a single player to bring anything besides soldiers/zerkers gear, to not come without DPS wrench and food buffs, and to bring DPS items like the Ember. When it came down to it they had the mechanics within the first 2-3 fights, because they’re nothing impressive and most of them aren’t even group mechanics, but solo mechanics a bunch of people are required to do simultaneously but independent of each others efforts. So from that point on it was just pithily squelching every last point of DPS out of the stat system.

These is not skill or strategy in meeting a stat check. If they want content that only scales to a large group, I personally am okay with that to a degree, but no such content should require all participants to meet a harsh stat check in place of real large-scale fight mechanics.

What’s wrong with having achievements that can only be completed with a large number of coordinated players? As long as such achievements are kept as a minority, I don’t see how it’s negatively affecting the game.
