Clearly there are plenty of people that either can’t read or don’t bother listening to map chat or even pay attention to what they’re doing.

People will herd around the knights even if they don’t have the calibration, causing the Knight to scale higher than it should be.

These players aren’t doing any damage, so why should the Knight scale?

If it’s too difficult to put a cap on the scaling, then all attacks should be REFLECTED (rather than nullified) if you don’t have the calibration.

At least then people might start paying attention.

How do you know it’s scaling past 50 and not just a case of bad DPS? Other encounters in the game do have maximum scaling limits, so there’s no reason to not have these limited at 50. People not contributing to an encounter aren’t supposed to scale it, but we all know that’s not entirely true.

I’ve seen people tell others to leave if they’re doing 0 damage. From personal experience, once a health bar is scaled up, it doesn’t scale back down.

I doubt that there’s any scaling going on at Knights, if there was it wouldn’t take that much more time for 20-30 people to kill one compared to full 50.

I think this will be fine. (If they are indeed scaling past 50)
Not only are people being told (in map chat) to not go to the last knight standing, but they are punished for even trying to attack.

Maybe add an aura also so that if you don’t have the calibration (& just standing in the area) your life starts ticking away? Maybe adding to intensity, similar to the miasma? Only way to negate this would to be calibrated. (I am still drinking my coffee so I am not fully realizing what this would do :P )

I am just thinking of ideas, cause spamming map chat “STAY AT UR KNIGHT, DONT RUN TO OTHERS & SCALE IT UP” doesn’t seem to work when it seems more then half the server cant read English yet they can type back in English “I NEED THE CREDIT FOR BLUE BECAUSE I WANT THE CORE”

It could be bad DPS… It could also be that they’ve given the Knights too much Vitality and Toughness.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if the Knights are set to scale up. (It was probably done initially to discourage zerging to begin with, but failed.)

Think about how devs said “There’s nothing wrong with loot mechanics.” a year ago.
Then they were like “Oh, we found something and fixed it. Enjoy your loot drops now.”

They do? There is no easy way to tell from a UI, but generally any event seems to scale upward to obscene proportions. You should check the norn boy looking to build armored snowmen in Snowden Drifts after a Maw event. Turn in one armor piece, see how much the meter goes up. Now wait five to ten minutes for the scaling to “refresh” after people have left the area. Now turn in one piece you should see a great difference.
