It is probably too late to work this into this update.. but perhaps the next one…

If you guys ever do another Living story that has a location locked till an event is completed.. Please make participating in that event part of getting into the zone each time.. I was waiting in Gendarran Fields for the zone to open up again, and I see about a dozen people Auto-running into the gate.. As the event started this didn’t stop. People were fighting and dieing to get the event completed. Once it was completed tho, people who had worked to get the event done got stuck in overflows because of all the people who were auto running into the gate.

Can you fix that? Perhaps have the gate when its inactive port people a short distance away from the gate, or when the event ends have the gate create a Blast field a short distance infront of it that stuns players for about 15 seconds.. that way people working to complete the event have a shot at getting into the event on their home servers??

I don’t know if it would be a good idea to reward those who participated, but a simple 10 seconds delay before you can enter after an event ended would solve the problem.

Don’t blame people blame overflows. They don’t want to be stuck in overflow so badly they prefer to skip entry event altogether in fear those few seconds it would take to run to portal when event is completed would put them in fail overflow.

I’d rather play in an overflow than wait in a queue or have the server crash from trying to fit everyone into one map. But maybe I’m the odd one out there. Maybe to most people not playing at all is preferable to not doing as well as they might on ‘their’ map.

That is just something I don’t get.. If your not going to help.. Get out of the zone completely, leave it to people who want to win reguardless of “home” server or not..

One time this was happening in the Bloodtide entrance, and the molten forces aoe’d everyone that was by the gate. Vindication :p

It’s sort of like that in Lornar’s Pass too. Maybe the solution would be to have them spawn on the bridge in Gendarran

I have seen a lot of this as well. I have seen a good number that auto run through the gate then right in to the wall like clock work, exactly the same movements each time.

I like the idea of a timer before you can enter, like the marionette.
Or better yet, do a stargate effect. When the gate opens, a blast comes out of the middle that wipes out anything in front of it.

In this worlds exists only one alternative to overflows – queues. Is it better for you?

They do. In fact they spawn right next to gate. They then run to the other side of the bridge before they start acknowledging any agro. It’s even possible to kill them on the bridge and block them from ever fighting back.

So yeah. It’s a flaw in programming that keeps anyone out of the fight.

Will the enemies return to the gate area if players engaged them from that direction? Is this a mechanic for how players want to position the fight? So what this means is that players fighting away from the gate are working for the players at the gate.

It may not be a game re-programming issue if it could be an easy player solution to lure the enemies toward the gate rather than re-configure the entry process.

Don’t hate the players, hate the game?

Party in a group with one of the gate campers? Would this allow the player away from the gate to enter the same instance as the first players in?

If they were attacked they will return but only if no one on the other end of the bridge attacks too, which I’ve only seen a couple times, and it was me that hit them.

It’s configured poorly. if they spawn at the gate they should agro whoever is there, rather than running away.

Yes, if you party with a gate camper you can at least try to enter the same map. Even if it spits you out in a different map you can try to swap to their map.

What would be the best fix here would be people to understand the goal of this whole thing is to rescue citizen, not upscale events-die in mass-lie on the ground until the event fails-teleport to the next event. Then, yes, in overflows you would start to see some people working, achieving the 1200…not finding like 4 people rescuing in all the map, asking for help, and hundreds dead people in a circle inside an event that is failing like it is now…and then, people would not longer struggle in any way to enter the portal…
Not that I justify them, but I understand..because I have just struggled for almost an hour with not more than 4 people in rescuing citizen on an overflow, and being only insulted by zergers when asking for some help. Now on I sure will just leave whenever I find myself in an overflow and wait for the next.

Why would you not want to reward the people who actually worked to open the gate in the first place?

Does this generation of gamers crave a pat on the head so much they’re blinded to what it is they’re actually doing? Firstly ‘worked to open the gate’ is hardly a fair representation of the difficulty or effort required in those events, but more importantly we get champ bags, xp, karma, loot and a bit of silver from doing the events-there’s your ‘reward’ right there.

Even more fun on an overflow last night in Lornar’s. With all the afk’ers & people in the Priory it took over 10mins to clear the gate as they kept spawning champs!
