Before the patch the event line with the Knights, onto the holo was challenging, but at least do-able. Since the 3/6 patch though it seems not once has my server gotten past even the Knights. Beating them is entirely dependent on having the maximum people at each location and everyone having as high a dps build as possible. It’s become a one way to win situation, which is fun for no one.

It also kills the event for people who are coming into it late since it’s now darn well near impossible to progress into the Breachmaker since all of the knights never go down.

Ranting aside this event needs to be re-balanced, and this could be done a couple of ways. Simply extending the timer would go a long way to making these bosses beatable again. You could also alter the scaling of the knights to more normal sized groups (usually around 30 tops at each one (on Crystal Desert anyway)) stand a chance, rather than expecting each knight to have it’s maximum count. Or upping/ removing the attacker limit to allow groups to zerg again would be acceptable. As it is now, the knights are an hourly roadblock and a waste of time.

Actually, the maximum people at each knight might be your problem. The bigger the zerg the longer the fight will be.

This is the ONLY game I know where cooperation makes battles harder.

knights with only 10 to 30 people were not even bellow 50% health when the timer ran out. They’re scaled for 50. Taking them on anything besides 50 is nearly suicide.

Groups can easily burn down a knight within 5 minutes with 50 players. If you have only 50 players on the map then you have enough time to kill all three discounting travel time. You will likely have more than 50 on a map anyway. If you have less then you likely would not have beaten it the old way anyhow.

People need to learn to properly dodge the attacks, use food and scarlet tonics, and step into the colored circles to get the attunements.

Pretty much Mags problem right now, we might get a successful run after reset since that’s the only time we can field a full server pretty much.

Unfortunately, you overestimate the appeal of this content. I played on my server last night and we grouped everyone into the same zerg. That got us 30 people.

I’ve also tried forcing guest overflow, but the last time I did that, we managed to kill the knights, and then I got put into a hologram battle where there were literally 3 players – apparently the drill platform itself is separate from the LA instance and supports a SMALLER number of players than allowed in LA where everyone fights the knights. You get overflow upon overflow. The fact that this can even happen is astoundingly stupid. You really think it’s fair to have players go through the struggles of getting the knights down and then follow up by sending them to a situation that is impossible to win? Anet needs to go back to the drawing board with this release. The only argument I can make in Anet’s defense is that this final chapter serves as a perfect summary of all the mistakes they’ve made over the course of the living world.

Should have been a triumph with thus release. Instead it is their worst ever… and then they made it worse with a patch.

There are no words for my disappointment with this garbage, nor for my despair going forward. I pray things change, a lot.

The drill platform is in the same LA instance for everyone that goes through a portal after defeating the knights. The problem is, there are 3 separate rooms that each have their own version of the hologram battle. I have no idea what method they use to distribute people among these rooms though. I’ve also seen hologram fights with very few people. Maybe it’s bugged, or maybe it happens because some people just kill the knights for loot and don’t participate in the hologram fight.

This patch is just terrible. Making Knights a little harder I can see, but this is just ridiculous.

At least I could still get a hold of cool rewards from that one. All that’s left of this event now is two weeks of crap loot grind and failure.

The problem is quite simple. Each knight has it’s own scarlet holo instance. Now people are flocking from knight to knight if an area has insufficient people to kill its corresponding knight. So you get an uneven distribution of people going through the holo platforms. Ergo one scarlet instance has 20; the other has 50 and the third has 80. I noticed this quite quickly. I would advice to follow the masses and make sure you enter the instance with the largest Zerg or else you risk facing scarlet by yourself.

I’ve done many overflows with barely 30 on each and we finish with plenty of time to spare. Maybe you just have too many auto attack heros.

That’s the thing with open world PVE events though. You have no idea how much a person next to you is actually trying.

The increased toughness that the knights gained from the patch is what really messed things up. Forcing people to split and now doing much less damage increased the difficulty tenfolds.

Not even sure if the scaling bug was acknowledged or fixed.

From my experience anytime you have 30 ppl and below, you fail the knight. 40 ppl and below – you likely fail the knight unless all are pure dps-built. And since most overflows are not hardcapped (many are not even softcapped), and always have some people doing other things…
You get the picture.
Before toughness increase it was doable. Now most servers/overflows simply have no chance at all.

Actions, not words.

People who are ok with the latest patch are VASTLY underestimating what the toughness update on the knights have done to this fight. My warrior with 114% crit damage is critting for LESS than the damage on the tooltip. Aka, less than the damage of an average non-crit vs 2600 armor. With 114% crit damage I should be doing 264% damage on a crit. The amount of toughness required to reduce an attack that crits down to or less than tooltip damage is out of this world.

before the patch, the best zerg i had, melt a knight in less tha a minute… all together for the win instead of useless split that force ppl to be item-based and experienced player… far more funny and doable

if Anet love hardcore challenge just put some label to identify them, all these patch and re-patch and changes made common player waste their way to play (the only one that avoid the huge grind that build this game)
