Still can’t get the toxic spider queen achieve cos people think its really funny to run into the fight and get eaten on purpose to prevent people getting the achievement. I think this sums up the problem with 2 week content..the aspect of griefing simply hasn’t been thought about. This along with the deeply flawed knights fight has made the end of this chapter of living story quite bittersweet for me.

Here’s the trick.

1. Have a group or two ready and waiting at the spawn. It’s always the same place.
2. Engage IMMEDIATELY upon spawning. No waiting for people to arrive since you already are there. Any “trolls” who engage with you are a 1 in X (X being how many people you have there.) chance of even being the target of the cocoon.
3. Focus entirely on killing the cocoons, unless you have snare skills, snares should be blanketing the spider when a cocoon is started. Even if a “Troll” doesn’t help by pressing 1, you can kill the cocoon just fine.
4. ???
5. Profit.

If they are laughing about it in the chat, take screenshot and report. That is legitimate griefing and is punishable.

I’ve had 4 attempts at the spider now.

  • Twice, an idiot started the battle before we had enough people.
  • Once, an idiot ran up the slope to the rubble pile and was caught by the spider.
  • Once, someone was legitimately clearing the trash mobs there and the spider spawned on top of him.

I don’t know that active griefing is actually required here. It seems that if you simply have enough bad players or bad luck, between the two it’s enough to ensure that the achievement is ruined before you even get a legitimate chance to try it. What it boils down to is a bad concept for an achievement and bad implementation, period.
