Here is Wintersday in LA.

I have been collecting all the vistas for just such an occasion. I’m just sad I didn’t get one from Halloween.

But I look forward to adding the new ones when the zone changes.

I started at the Krytan entrance and recorded as I re-explored the city, catching the sights and NPCs -- though a few of the notable ones didn’t feel like talking when I came by -- and even two of the jumping puzzles (was running late and ended up skipping Troll’s End, even though I love it. I should go get that one).

Unfortunately I only have screenshots for Halloween, the Dragon Bash, Wintersday, and other similar events. See attached -- that poor fountain was no match for Thorn!

I’m not emotionally attached to LA, but at least now I can show people How It Was.

I don’t spend lots of time in LA as a rule, but when I am there, it’s for fun reasons. I took a few screens over the last Wintersday holiday, whilst having some of the aforementioned fun.

Took a walk through the city earlier and felt like I was looking at it for the first time. Much more beautiful than I’d given it credit for! Still glad to see it burn.

I’ll probably share with some poor refugees though.

So I spent all of last night actually running around taking screenies- only to find just now that my folder had been full again -.-

What was really really weird though is that the entire time I was there- there was a map black out- complete silence.

The place was packed as usual, just no one was talking, not in map or say.
It seemed like a lot of people were standing around listening to the nPC’s

It was a really eerie experience

Kalarchis, however did you get a picture of the Mystic Forge with no one at it? I can tell it’s from a vista, but those still show people. Is your server that low on folks?

I have so many screenies of LA from the last almost 2 years that it will be hard to narrow them down. Between holiday events, role play sessions, dance offs, compulsive screenshotting of vistas … I think I may wait to see how it’s changed and get comparison shots of the same places after.

Actually Donari, I was wondering that myself as soon as I looked at the picture! There were plenty of people in there. Dumb luck maybe? You can see someone jumping over the railing north of the Forge. Glad it turned out that way though, adds some weight to the picture.

Also my shots have people with the generic low res models when I’ve got all those settings on max. Weird.

I got some of the MF from the vista, also showing no one actually standing next to it. Maybe the vista is meant to be like that, so the MF can actually be seen properly (wouldn’t be a good vista if it had half the server climbing the forge). Note the Box o’ Fun in the bottom left corner of my shot, and how NPC Miyani is not where she typically stands.

Some one asked about how no one was at the forge in an earlier pic. That may have been a question of rending the image and the card/sw not drawing everyone that far away. Occasionally I can see folks below us from up here, but they are not visible for long.

LA is my favorite city in any MMO (I never tired of looking at the beautiful, unique architecture and the colors and… all the memories,) so I’m severely sad about this whole ordeal. I took a last tour around last night and took over 300 screenshots…

But I had to lighten my own mood. So here’s a short story about my character’s life in Lion’s Arch:

Never gonna forget when I first ran across the entrance of lions arch as I was leveling around Gandarran Fields. Saw a huge structure for ships and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It has been my afk spot ever since gw1.
