Remove this achiev because the conditions to do are not possible for more players.

Why:

1 – Overflow
2 – We need 150 active players:
- More players afk
- More players leech
- More players do other things: others achievs or farm
- More players don’t known the strats and wouldn’t like to excute this strat or they can’t to do it: stuff, food, potion, build.
- The gameplay of more players is very poor: they dont know an aoe or escape (maybe to create a tutorial)
4 – During Event – only 2 weeks and this achiev was bugged during more days

It’s the reallity, we can’t organize this achiev with few players who are motivated.

I think only one guild among many servers has finished this achiev.

We have no time to win it. We are not in organization as Tequatl: only 2 weeks !

So delete it or change time to kill the 3 knights less 9 minutes.

Agreed with op. An achiev that will be impossible to 90% of player base, because it nod dependent on the player skill.

And also, no one is even trying it anymore because its bugged. So, for a player like me that only play at weekends, I’ll probably never see a sucessul attempt, since in next weekend most of player will be out of the event, or will already had got the achiev.

I agree as well. I’ve made it to holo fight only twice. Nobody is even trying to beat all three knights. They beat one and get chest and that’s good enough for them but not for the one’s who have not gotten a fair chance at all achieves. Really disappointed.

Just because something is hard to achieve, it doesn’t need to be removed. You don’t need to do it, as you said it yourself. You failed your own challenge, such things happen, get over it.

What they should do though is reverting the toughness of the knights back to normal.

There we have it. It’s a challenge. It’s doable, but it’s not easy. If you can’t get it with your server, you either need to try harder or give up.
Just because something is hard to achieve, it doesn’t need to be removed. You don’t need to do it, as you said it yourself. You failed your own challenge, such things happen, get over it.

What they should do though is reverting the toughness of the knights back to normal.

It’s not a challenge, it’s impossible.

I was in the 2 minute kill TTS did and another 5 minute one, and both times it failed. I’ve killed all 3 on separate attempts within 6 minutes, both across different overflows and within the same map.

It’s bugged. If they don’t fix it, then it needs to be removed, because there’s no point in having an unattainable achievement. IF they fix it, THEN it’s a challenge, but people will still only have one week to get something they were supposed to be able to get for two.

The miracle is getting the achievement, since it is still bugged. Killing all three knights under 6mins will not give the achievement to everyone. Only a very few lucky people will get it or even no one.

I never said that you have to do either.
I did say that I dislike that kind of achievement too and that they should stop implementing achievements where you have to depend on other players while doing open world events, but that doesn’t make them impossible.

@Moon: That’s because of the buggyness though… Should really be fixed though.

You have the same problem in the home map for all servers as overflow.

We need a Miracle to have 150 players interstied “just for an achiev”.

And fi it’s not fixed, just remove it or give this achiev for all players. That’s all.

I don’t know how many servers (or overflows) who are down in less in 6 min. I think it’s 1% for the totality.

Many players don’t have the time to pass 2 hours on GW2

Disagree… Main servers are failing to achieve it as much as overflows, my home server does and several that I have guested to or have friends on are also suffering the same fate.

I was playing the whole weekend, mostly on Desolation main map. it’s safe to say i was present on around 15 – 20 Knight and Scarlet kills. Not a single attempt was under 6 minutes. One or two knights maybe all three no chance.

There wasn’t a single atempt where all knight were capped at 50 players right from the start.

If the achievement was changed to a more realistic number it wouldn’t hurt imo.

It’s not possible without 150 people fully coordinated, and you can’t get that since there will always be random players on the map. IF we could create a private instance and bring in 150 people we know, then this achievement would be reasonable – but in its current state it’s not.

I’ve never missed a single living story achievement in this game and I’d be very frustrated if this broken achievement were to destroy my streak.

I think the knight battle difficulty ought to scale with the number of players just as it did for events during the escape, but maybe even more so.

For example, in WvW, if a tiny group faces a big group, it seems that armor damage and waypoint cost are eliminated to help even things out.

In a few of the knight battles I spent a pile of silver on way pointing back over and over, not to mention the armor repair costs. Those kinds of costs also discourage people from even trying, because if the achievement seems impossible, it costs you a lot of coins, and there are other achievements, like the various champs that are easier and more varied, then it’s no surprise that people abandon the knights.

About 1 week has passed and this achievement is still bugged and is arguably one of the hardest achievements in the game since launch.

Now before I say further, a little bit of background about myself. I am a very hardcore gamer and have been often referred to as an achievement hunter, I have every single living story achievement since launch including Liadri 8 orbs which I managed to get on 2 different accounts. I have all wurm achievements and even the hidden Tequatl achievement.

Now in this patch, Anet decided to introduce a terribly difficult and time-restricted achievement which not only requires a map to be hard capped but requires every player to be dead on during the fight. So now I have to rely on other player’s competence to get an achievement which is based very little of my personal skill but more so of how the overall map performs. To add to this issue, it is a limited time content which has been bugged for more than half its duration already….So even though I ended up beating this encounter now 2 times in under 6 minutes, I have yet to still receive the achievement but instead have wasted several hours of my day spamming to get into overflows which are being filled by specific guilds then wait an entire hour to try it again….

There has now been 3 “fix patches” which were all dedicated to this release and we still have such a major bug revolving this achievement. The only players who have successfully gotten this achievement has done so on the very first day or randomly received the reward by killing one of the knights before the other 2 were even slain….

Now my suggestion is the following: Fix the achievement ASAP or remove it from the game, if you wish to leave the achievement points that were granted to the players who already have it, that’s fine but make it disappear from the UI from them as well. It is utterly ridiculous the way achievements continue to be designed for the 2 week release making it very frustrating for a completionist such as myself.
I hope this post reaches a dev and some action is taken swiftly (meaning within the next 7 days before this patch ends) and an official statement/post release note is added stating the achievement is now fixed.

Why even waste you time to post such a stupidly obvious point? I get this kinda answer all the time and it only proves that you don’t understand the big picture. I realize I don’t need all the achievements and I am sure the OP knows that also…but that isn’t the point of the post. Your response takes a serious issue and belittles it. You are unknowingly hurting yourself by attempting to lower the standards of all players. Instead Anet needs to make sure their content works before putting out there unless it is permanent….And when they patch it, it should be corrected or what was the point of the patch. It seems to me that their patch wasn’t to fix the boss encounter but was mainly to fix the rewards. This comes across very badly to me and I’m sure many others because they weren’t making the rewards better they were making them worse. Yeah but how is them removing it any different? You still didn’t complete the achievement. Let’s say that I’ve spent the 10+ years to get the WvW dolyak achievement. I then request that they remove all other WvW achievements which they do. Does this mean that I actually completed all WvW achievements? No. I essentially swept the missing ones under the rug and pretended they don’t exist. If I missed the entire Queen Pavilion living story and request that they remove those achievements from the game, which they do; does that mean I completed every living story achievement?

If you want an analogy that is exactly like the current achievement here is one. Let’s say that I’m trying to pass every test this year. In one of my classes I am given a test that is so difficult to complete in the time allotted for it and I fail. How about some of the questions were bugged and there were no correct answers but for whatever reason it was too late to resolve it. I then ask the professor to remove the test from my records. Did I actually pass every test that year? No. Whether or not the test is on my record, I still failed it.

You cannot make something that once existed to simply un-exist. It doesn’t ever work like that. Whether the achievement is or isn’t in the game, if you still haven’t completed it by the end of the living story, you haven’t actually completed every living story achievement. Simply pretending that it never existed doesn’t matter.

How about having it so that the uncompleted achievements no longer appear in the historical section? That’s no different than removing it from the game. You said yourself that you don’t care about AP so whether it had AP value or not is of no consequence. You can pretend that you had completed every living story achievement just like you would have pretended had it been removed from the game.

I completely agree with ZilentNight and all the other completionists here -

I have all the LS achievements myself, but this is getting ridiculous. It was quite bad with the Marionette, where achievements started to depend on the performance of other players ; while it was completely random, I did manage to get these, and I thought it could only get back to “sane” challenges. The new “LA under siege” proved me wrong. The new ones are not only random, but also buggy.

Achievements should reflect personal skill, not luck.

Whoever designed these achievements really need to rethink their strategy. If the goal is to encourage the community to improve, get players to help each other, large groups to coordinate, etc. it’s not happening.

Large scale open raid-like events just don’t work. Either give the players the tools to organise and coordinate (e.g. let them gather with guilds on a specific server, make it instanced, etc.) or design the achievements so that they are of equal difficulty across all servers including overflows (make it about personal abilities, small groups at the largest)

Liadri 8 orbs was a GREAT challenge. Marionnette and 6 Minutes Knights are completely arbitrary ; we have no control of what’s going on, and it ends up being frustrating.

It’s bad enough the “content” updates are entirely about mindless farming and gem-store skins (Torment weapons, seriously ?! what’s the connection ? …). At least get us some REALISTIC achievements.

I couldn’t care less about achievement points, but regular new challenges is what’s keeping me playing GW2 at the moment. I’m really hoping for some real update with LS Season #2, but in the meantime I might just do like many others have done already and go see somewhere else…

Removing a poorly designed achievement based entirely on luck takes away the frustration of not getting it, which is what keeps completionists going.

Imagine an achievement “get a precursor weapon from the mystic forge in the next 7 days”. That’s completely random and doesn’t reflect player skill ; some will get it, some won’t. It’s highly frustrating and that’s exactly the way some of these LA/LS “challenges” feel.

This is really a extremely bad analogy. College tests tend to have a major impact on grades, which more so than representing a few points to a gradually increasing score, have the potential to make you repeat 6 months of work from the beginning, costing you close to $1000 for the grand benefit of actually making you look less attractive to employers. Not getting an achievement means…. what, it takes you another day to recover those points?

I think they should double its worth. No, I don’t have it yet. Ridiculous difficulty should have ridiculous incentive.

BTW, they cranked down the hp on the knights last night, so there is at least a snowball’s chance of getting this now :/

Granted i haven’t done it after recent patch but last time we managed it under 6 minutes noone got the achievement.

Sariel – the pervasive issue with this achievement is that it’s still bugged (has been since the event started) – lowering the knight’s hp means nothing when you kill all 3 knights within 6 mins and are still not rewarded the achievement (like TTS did yet again last night).

And the fact that the event most likely ends next Tuesday means it will become increasingly difficult for folks to complete this achievement (not to mention the bug must be fixed first, and that you must be on during primetime and lucky enough to get into the right LA instance).

College tests tend to have a major impact on grades, which more so than representing a few points to a gradually increasing score, have the potential to make you repeat 6 months of work from the beginning, costing you close to $1000 for the grand benefit of actually making you look less attractive to employers. Not getting an achievement means…. what, it takes you another day to recover those points?

No analogy is ever perfect and the things you pointed out have nothing to do with what my argument was nor was what I was using the analogy for. I suggest you go back, read what I wrote, and determine what my argument was. You missed the point.

EDIT: I’ll further elaborate on the above response of mine.

An analogy can never be exactly like what it is being used to compare otherwise it would not be an analogy. An analogy can be weak or strong depending on the argument it is being used to support. This is why I suggested that you re-read my post so you could understand what my argument was. Context is also a pretty important thing so also refer to the post that I was commenting about.

My argument was about whether there was a difference between removing the achievement and leaving it. The poster that I was responding to had stated that AP was not a concern to them and I even mentioned that fact. Since, AP was not what we were discussing, nor part of my argument, I was able to use that analogy. Had my argument been about the AP then that analogy would have been very weak for the reasons you mentioned.

I don’t care much for this achievement myself and have never really tried to get organized for it (most I have done is grab vigil valiance and pop that scarlet enemy buff that drops a lot) but I feel it was made it bad taste. It just seems wrong to make something like this for 2 week content, especially with how buggy it is.

Just remove it and replace it with more loot for players organizing and killing them under the allotted time IMO.

While I don’t want the achievement removed necessarily, the fact it presumably goes away next Tuesday leaves very little time for folks to get it given how (a) the bug still needs to be fixed and (b) you must be on during primetime hours to get it AND be lucky enough to make it to the same LA instance as the other bazillion peeps frantically trying to join.

It’s possible that for those who got it that it was enough AP to get them to a chest, so simply removing it would cause issues with people perhaps getting that chest twice. Instead, I think anet should send out an in game mail with an item that would grant the achievement when used.

All they need to do, is have everyone get it. Then they can fix it at their leisure. 5 pts towards ach. total shouldn’t be that big of a deal. The trouble is tracking it down. If anyone has completed it, logic dictates it worked at some point. Thus the maddening task of finding what is the problem. The code governing that particular achievement may be WAI, but another action borks it.

I try to go desolation, same things for LA, Cosat and Gendarran = overflow
