Q:

Disclaimer: I’m not related to the person in the other post or know what he was talking about.

This is just a hypothetical situation and it CAN happen to anyone, therefore I should raise it as a topic and discuss with the community.

If someone report you for something you didn’t do, for example “botting”.
Should you report the person back, and under which category, “botting”?

IRL, if someone is framing you for something you didn’t do, it is called defamation or slandering, you reserve the right to file civil lawsuit against such provocation.

I’m a scholar, thus I don’t take stance.

Its not possible for you to see who reported you and why. Only because someone told you he reported you, doesnt mean he did.

If you want to act preemtive, raise a support ticket, describing the incident and state that the person was possibly grieving you by a false report.

A couple of things.

As already mentioned, you can’t see who reported you or even if you’ve been reported in the first place.

Also, being reported doesn’t mean you will be banned or infracted, it just means that the incident will be flagged to be reviewed by someone, who will check the logs and see what really happened. If you were falsely reported then the account that did it will be flagged, and they have mentioned before that if someone constantly do false reports it can be infracted.

And is someone is threatening to report you, well, as already mentioned, screenshot it and make a ticket yourself for harrasment/griefing.
