Spoiler warning for those who haven’t played through the boss fight and seen the cutscene yet******

Still here?

Ok.

So in the cutscene Scarlet tells us that killing her won’t end all this because her master is going to take over Tyria. Most people think she is talking about a Dragon as her master. I, however, don’t. Let’s look at Scarlet’s journal entires:

“I wake from nightmares—screaming, confused, and scared. It’s getting wOrse. I’ve decided to talk to a mender. I’ve probably just been working too hard.

Every night, the same terrors. It never changes. The mender was unable to help Me, and I feel like I’m losing control of myself.

When the nightmare starts, an entity calls to me. I run—run into a sea of dArkness. But no matter how hard I try to escape, it keeps calling me.

I’m trying not to sleep—too scareD to even close my eyes… So scared. Whispers come from the forest all night long, calling me, taunting me, possessing me.

Tonight, I saw it. I started into the abyss, anD it stared back at me. So much power. I don’t know what’s real and what isn’t anymore.

Control of my world, of myself, is slipping through my hands. And yet, I’m no longer scared.

It communicated with me through images of death, destruction, and destiny. I must know more. I must confront it and put an end to this madness."

To me she sounds like she wants to destroy this thing that is psychologically harassing her. Through other things I’ve read from here, a thought has occurred to me that what if her master isn’t a Dragon at all? She clearly has one, but I agree with a previous post that Scarlet tried to awaken an Eternal Dragon so that The Pale Tree and the Dragon could kill each other. If this is true (and I understand it’s a longshot) then Scarlet’s true master can’t be the dragon. But then who is it? The gods are gone off to the mist (and she is Sylvari anyway so they probably would never do anything with her). Abaddon would be one of the only beings that could be described in this sentence, “When the nightmare starts, an entity calls to me. I run—run into a sea of dArkness. But no matter how hard I try to escape, it keeps calling me.” But Abaddon’s dead. There just aren’t any bad guys in Tyria that aren’ Eternal dragons that could be described as… oh my… I just said in Tyria… Nothing ever specifically stated that her master was from Tyria. But if her master isn’t from Tyria, then who could have this much power and be trying to control Scarlet? Who would…. gulp*…. Palawa Joko… (I don’t want people to see this at the very end before reading the rest of it so I’m inserting this to hide it hehe).

*Massive Mindplosions everywhere.

Also, that villian I mentioned above may want to control Tyria as well as the land he currently owns, so he may have identified the pale tree and the elder dragons as a threat so orchestrated this to eliminate them both.

Scarlet’s master? Mister E?

I’m a scholar, thus I don’t take stance.

Omadd showed Ceara the Eternal Alchemy.
In it, Ceara saw Mordremoth and Mordremoth saw her and began speaking to her.
Ceara became Scarlet because she went mad after hearing Mordremoth.
Scarlet got out of the machine and killed Omadd on the spot.
As time went past, Scarlet got more and more voices in her head from Mordremoth and she started to research and create a plan to awaken him to get rid of the voices.
She researched dragon energy at Thaumanova, possibly blew it up to disturb the leyline it’s on but it didn’t work.
She gathered her army and placed sonar thumpers to check for a major leyline crossing and found it under Lion’s Arch.
She drilled into the leyline crossing and disturbed it so much that Mordremoth awakened.
Mordremoth is the jungle dragon and “Tyria’s new master”.

Scarlet succeeded but died doing so.

I agree with the OP i don’t think the dragon was her master. It is possible that her master did make her think it was an Elder Dragon or tried to get her to wake it up so they can destroy everything and go back to sleep soon. When that part was done her master would be able to control everything w/o the Elder Dragons getting in its way.
