Mordremoth, like Jormag, can still influence people even though he is sleeping. The vine that strangles the Pale Tree is Mordremoth exerting his will on the Dream creating Nightmares. Mordremoth tries to corrupt certain Sylvari with the Nightmares, and if he is sucessfull, they join the Nightmare Court. (An example of him failing to corrupt a Sylvari would be when you create a new sylvari character and kill the shadow of the dragon)
Mordremoth could sense Scarlet’s intelligence and potential, while she slept in the dream and tried to corrupt her and succeeded. The Pale Tree didn’t want Mordremoth to have such a powerful ally, so she found a way to “seal away” the memories/Mordremoth’s influence on her. However, this “seal” wasn’t perfect and the memories were constantly leaking. Finally, when she was put in Omadd’s device, all the seals were broken and Scarlet realized her true purpose: to awaken Mordremoth.
How does Scarlet plan on awakening Mordremoth? By transferring a bunch of dragon energy to where he is sleeping.
How will she transfer this dragon energy? The Thamanouva reactor failure proved that dragon energy is volatile and hard to control. Scarlet will use the leylines she discovered to transfer the dragon energy.
Where will she get all this dragon energy? Its not like its just laying around and easy to get. My theory is that she will use the remaining dragon energy from Zhaitan’s Corpse to fuel Mordremoth’s awakening. Think about it. Tequatl got stronger because he was defending his master’s remains. Unfortunately, Rox killed Tequatl in the living story, so Scarlet has access to his corpse.
Probes? Why Lion’s Arch?
I predict that Scarlet is looking for the “Central Hub” of the leylines. In order for any energy to be transferred, it has to pass through this “central hub” first. Scarlet wants to find this so, she can control it. The probe turning green in Lion’s arch shows that this “central hub” was found underneath the city. She is going to attack the city in order to gain control of it.
Thoughts?
Been theorised for many weeks now. Nothing new here.
Also, too “obvious” to be the case, especially as an AN dev (I can’t source this) have said only a few people have actually “guessed” correctly from what they’ve read.
This is an interesting theory. I’m not sure if I would write it off either, regardless of how much traction it is now gaining. I’ll be braced for developments.
