Why the drill?

If they wanted to destroy LA they wouldn’t need a drill to do that. So whats the point of the massive drill? Any lore that says what LA was built upon?

Also, I remember the NPC’s at Southsun Cove talking about all the baddies coming to the surface because they were scared of something REALLY big in the deep which still hasn’t been played out yet. Which I think (Southsun Cove) was part of the first event (I remember because the timing was off for half the world and then it was made into 2 weeks at a time).

We don’t know yet. Speculation is going on for quite some time, you’ll find it on the forums. And maybe, if we’re really lucky, we’ll know in about 5 hours.

Under this LA there is the old one, and under that there are tunnels full of destroyers (GW1 instance)
