they do have a loading dock..
All essential services that are unique to Lion’s Arch will be redirected to Vigil Keep for the time being, including Asura gates to other cities, Fractals of the Mists, and incarcerated cactus-faced troublemakers.
The emphasis is mine.
“For the time being” implies the move is only temporary. The season finale for the LS on March 4th is probably going to be us retaking Lion’s Arch in a battle against Scarlet’s forces.
I mean Rata because its a better city because all resources are nearby each other

for some reason i think, not all but many, of tyria’s inhabitants will be less tolerant of one another after such an attack.. and this is even considering if lion’s arch is ‘retaken’ relocating or rebuilding won’t be an easy task

Rata sum has always been better for crafting/tp/banking. The only reason people used LA at all was for the portals and the fact that Anet forced it to be that way with events and activities.

Well Rata sum has always been one of the more popular racial cities because it’s not a pain to navigate and all of the crafting/banking/trading post access spots are right next to each other. That and it’s also just a visually nice-looking city.
The only big issue is that it’s far off on the side of the world map, so that makes it kind of expensive for WP traveling.
Agreed, no need for me lower myself by taking base in Rata Sum.
Divinity’s Reach will be my home for crafting and such.
I have been in Divinity reach since the 1st day of the game lol.
LA has way over load ppl.
I like this move by anet though and i hope it will stay for a long time.
better get ppl moving back to their race’s main city.

Maybe the Tengu gate will open up. That could be the next hub.
Oh please no. I hate rats

We’ll turn Divinity’s into a human experiments lab once we take over Tyria O:<

Meh a small, knee-high fence around DR should suffice for keeping the rats out.

The notes said "During this part of the Living Story, Vigil Keep will serve as the hub for some of the game content originally available in Lion’s Arch, including the Asura Gate hub to other cities, Fractals of the Mists, and relevant personal storyline instances. The city will continue to be available for map completion, but players should expect it to be more difficult to navigate during this time. "

I have used Rata sum from day 1
~Gorg
I was always in Divinity’s Reach as my hub. I love it there. Unfortunately for me, several patches ago they messed something up (again) and it started to take 45 seconds to over a minute for DR to load into, and then half graphics weren’t loaded (invisible floor and map taking 30 additional seconds to load up properly). Sadly, this forced me to leave DR and I have since made Rata Sum my new home. I love DR, but a whole minute just to get into DR (plus 30 more seconds after loading just to see where I’m going) versus 8-10 second loading time into Rata Sum with everything loaded perfectly (plus closer bank/Gbank/TP) …I’ll take Rata Sum until they fix their stuff (if ever).

Considering that it would be a (former, but still mostly) human city destroyed by an alliance that includes charr, asura and sylvari, i’d say that’s going to cause some bad blood all right.
And as for new hub… Rata sum has the facilities (and is logical for a purely fluff reason – it’s the only other port in the area), but is inconveniently located at the edge of the map. Hoelbrak is placed far better (though its services are more spread out).

I rather like Ebonhawke myself, decent lay out by and large.

Hoelbrak because it is big enough, not the cramped place that is rata sum. It was made for small asurans not men, Norn and Charr. Also easy in wintersday
