I just wanted to say, I love these. I love that we are given so many options, I love that they’re available for low level characters, I love that they can be made by normal play, I love that we can have multiple, and I just love the overall design.

I want one of each ascended and several exotics for alts. I don’t even know what to do with them all, but I know that there isn’t a single thing going to keep me from playing this LS every day to get the blades I need. Great job anet, thank you.

I don’t really like the “barrels” at the base of the back piece though.

I like the thought behind the tiered upgrade process and the customization of color.

However, I dislike that it is tied into crafting (why crafting for everything over the last 8 months?) and the aesthetic design. Needless to say, I will not be farming any on this go-around.

This, frankly I am unhappy that the last stage requires a crafting discipline. Why do all of the best armors almost have to be crafted?

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Honestly I don’t care what it looks like it’s a (relatively) easy way to finally get back items for all of my characters.

I love that we can get multiples, that they can be upgraded as a character levels up (assuming you keep the materials for it around). And I love that I don’t have to grind dungeons to do it.

Yah, I’m quite happy with the Spinal Blade backpiece just as a “dummy” backpiece to transmute other appearances onto.

Provides a lot more stat combination variety than, say, temple exotic backpieces.

Probably not much of a change for Ascended since there’s already customization options there with the various fractal capacitors, the basic ascended backs, and Light of Dwayna / Shadow of Grenth, but for Exotic at least it’ll be pretty nice to use as a base.

The appearance of the Spinal Blade itself is pretty decent too. Different, but that’s good.

This is an awesome way of progression. You start out with a basic item and upgrade it as far as you want (first making it more powerful, then making it better looking), but no progress is destroyed along the way.

I would love this for (at least) ascended weapons/armor/trinkets as well. Like you start with an ascended item, unlock stat combos and once you have all stat combos you have a precursor, which you can then use to make a legendary weapon. This last step is the same as the purely cosmetic upgrade from the Tempered Spinal Blade to one the others with nicer colors.

My only problem with the Sklerite everything is that they are representative of absolutely nothing which exists on Southsun. If even one of the Karka had crazy tentacles and eyes they’d be fine, but they don’t so they make no sense.

agree with the praise………while it doesn’t really fit my aesthetic preference for my themed characters, i do think the “transformational” building of it in tiers through game play and crafting is nice. i always admired that aspect of the fractal backskins………its so much better and more interesting than just getting the finished product upon meta completion.

well done.

I love, love, love this backpiece, and the fact you can get it to ascended etc.

However, seeing the blade shard requirements I have a feeling they’re not the most alt friendly backpieces. Does anyone know if we will continue to be able to have blade shards drop after this LS? I don’t mind a slow climb to assemble an ascended backpiece, but it’s not really going to happen in the next two weeks (since I have limited playtime). Oh well if not, but it would be nice to know this is a long-term goal I can aim for. All I need to keep dropping are the shards … everything else I can accumulate over time.

Lions Arch is basically Recluse’s Victory now, minus the open world pvp.

Edit: video for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUMeo7-1hZc
Atlas park was the lions arch of city of heroes and when the villains patch/expansion came out they added an alternate universe pvp zone with the area as a contested zone that could be won or lost by capping points. The center statue of Atlas would change to Recluse with the spider arms holding the globe and all the textures would change zone wide. I spent more hours there than all my gw2 time and i’m like 2k hrs in.

Well Anet did see Pacific Rim as a company (in private screening I think), and at least some/most of them seemed to really like it based on their tweets, so I wouldn’t doubt them making a nod to it.

I wasn’t going to make mine ascended until I got a lucky drop today… so I spent 200g leveling leather worker and making it. Was worth it, for me… but I can see why it wouldn’t be for everyone. . One thing I think is great is that the exotic ones are pretty cheap and easy to make, and account bound, so they’re very alt friendly. I will likely be making an additional exotic for my alts to pass around, just so I don’t need to spend mondo fractal relics or karma on outfitting my 13 lesser alts.
