Sarah Kerrigan… the “Queen of Blades”
The Spinal Blades alone look somewhat similar to the claw-arm things on Kerrigan’s back (when I first saw the item in preview, I instantly thought of Kerrigan).
Is this just a coincidence?
Also, here’s a picture for reference:

I’d say more like Recluse from City of Villains because they look more mechanical.

That was the first thing that came to mind. Perhaps the people at ANet are none too happy with NCSoft closing COH/COV and this is their way of saying it?

Or they thought “Hey cool design, let’s use it”

We said that in our guild Mumble too. The Kerrigan bit.
I still say I’d be the cutest lil zergling in a Starcraft MMO.

I think its more like this. The blades are propeller blades from a helicopter thats why there is a jet on the pack. That dude from transformers

Or Doc Oct from Spiderman!
Or Andariel from Diablo II!
Or this concept art of Abaddon from GW1!
Or the hundreds of other beings with blades/appendages coming from the backside!

I think they’re more meant to be mechanical wings, actually.
Not that they’d be at all helpful in flying, but the design feels more like “pressed together, they form wings.”

I know plenty of other characters would probably have a similar look, but the main thing that made me associate it with Kerrigan is that she is… the Queen of Blades.

Lol, I had no idea what people were talking about. Never heard of her. Gamers do seem to love references. I see now.
Why is she Queen of Blades? Those don’t look like blades. They look like bones.
