That is it? All that build up for a dragon we already knew existed? Scarlet’s death, come on really? I expected her to go out with more of a bang (hah) then that.

For some reason I expected more out of the story than this.

They still haven’t explained Scarlet’s motives, why she killed all those people, and why she united all the alliances.

Wait for the finale on March 18th and we’ll get our answers.

It sounded more like a recap episode. How would we get these answers? The person who did it all is dead lol. Killed before she could answer anything because “We don’t care what you have to say!” brigade.

They answered most of those questions in her secret lair and in the investigation instance a couple patches ago. The only question left unanswered is what she saw in her vision that drove her to her plan. That was answered at the end of the cut scene.

I actually knew very little about the dragon until recently. Also, people have wanted a link to the elder dragons and existing lore, and now that it’s confirmed it was connected all along, people still complain?

The characters in-game didn’t see that cinematic. They still need something to come to the same conclusion as us players.

I’m not most people, they have been teasing the dragon for awhile now. We knew it was coming at some point. I wanted a huge showdown with a character that has been “tormenting” us for the past few months.

A dragon to explode from the hole and destroy the drill, landing on a hill, looking down on us and glaring. Boom. Anything but playing Frogger with grenades and hitting F to win.

Aly Cat is correct. All of this was revealed in the first two patches of the final chapter. The Alliances were made for her to use a mighty force against Tyria while acquiring the technology for each for her own uses. Take the drill for instance. It uses Aetherblade Technology for flight and Dredge tech for drilling. She needed these alliances as a means to build up to this point… again it has been explained in-game multiple times now. All these motives was to…
Awake the elder dragon. She was corrupted ever since she did that experiment with Omadd. That's who has been driving her mad and to lead up to this point.
And that’s why. It’s all in-game. You just have to read it and do a bit of thinking

No, that’s not enitrely correct. People wanted elder dragons instead of Scarlet. This now, at least to me, felt like they were throwing the dragon in order to get people to like their living story.
I also distinctly remember that the devs used to say that some people were already correctly predicting the end of the Living Story, but the majority was guessing wrong and only a slight percentage had guessed the correct ending. This statement was made at a point (after the “Fractured” update) where pretty much 90% of the forums were guesisng “dragons” because of the leylines and such.
Finally, it’s also probably a pacing issue with the Living Story why it feels so anti-climatic. Said “Fractured” update was in November. In terms of story-conetnt updates, it’s probably just 5 or 6 chapters of the living story, but in terms of time it’s been almost 4 months that the majority of the people have correctly predicted the ending of the Living Story. If these final 5 or 6 chapters had been told in a quicker succession (and I’m not talking weekly releases, but maybe bigger content releases, less frequently), this problem wouldn’t have been so evident, I guess.

Frankly, I was happily part of that brigade. I’m just glad she’s dead and we don’t have to put up with her Mary Sue shenanigans anymore.

I don’t need answers, I need villains I’ll be looking forward to facing.

The fact that we don’t learn anything new since the snippets we read from Scarlet’s journal a few updates ago was extremely disappointing. Her journal was not all telling and her motivations are still largely based in speculation. I was really looking for some more clarification, explanation, something, and instead we get Braham saying “it doesn’t matter” and that’s it. Seriously?

I’m not holding out any hope for the epilogue. I should have just accepted a long time ago that Scarlet is a shallowly written character and not expected anything more.

This “final” is a big disappointment. Just another massive zerg with massive bugs and so little story, that it hurts.
I really hoped some huge dragon would rise from below LA in a great cinematic. That would have had some epicness. “Here I am, you fools, I made her free me!”
But no, she cracked some ley line. Woohoo! The end is nigh!

C’mon, worst final of worst story ever.

+1 I could care less why, I just wanted her gone.

Its about kitten time too.

You definetly have a point, I think the biggest plot twist is that Jory didn’t die so we could have the lesbian kiss (capitalism-oh!).
The event is still bugged and I don’t get if the spinal backpack teleport was supposed to be there since the beginning but that final fight…

…Are you for real?!? First the “we don’t need your blabbering, mad person” and than, after a couple of hit, the finish her button. Could they have made it any worst? Maybe due to a bug we are losing part of the fight but even if we somehow wound Scarlet before it would still be so anti-climatic…

Just wondering did you actually get to fight Scarlet in the drill after you defeat the three knights at once? Or you just entered the portal because of the backpack bug? You do realize there is whole dungeon you need to fight through to get to the final scene if you enter the proper way (kill 3 knights at once)?

Nope, didn’t realize untill some minutes ago when I decided to look at the achievements list and see the one talking about fighting scarlet holograms…still its not my fault.
I actually defeated the knights and didn’t get the portal buff due to bug and choose to use the backgear teleport because I thought it would get me inside the drill without skipping stuff. I will give it another shoot when Anet fixed everything but still the company of heroes actions and the finish her button will always be bad ideas.

I don’t get the dissapointment. Now we know that most likely the voice inside her head was an Elder Dragon. He wanted to awake but maybe didn’t had the means to do it, so lets corrupt someone to do it for you. Just like Zhaytan. And If I’m correct we now know that there is 1 Dragon capable of corrupting Sylvaris.

I liked the end, Battle wise could be better, I mean I would have liked to fight 1vs 1 with Scarlet but still better than the Personal Story final Battle.

And the Cutscenes, the bests so far. Next Personal stories need to be done this way

Phask - Guardian/DH | Phaskk - Warrior | Phaask - Revenant
