The scene you say looks like CoE looks more like Ulta Metamagicals in Brisban. The scenes move in that direction towards the Maguuma Jungle so that makes more sense to me. We know they were researching the Ley lines at Ulta.
Edit: Retract that, looking at the Cutscene another time, that is Thaumanova. Look at the distinct light that is already coming out of it before the surge. Thaumanova looks identical to that scene.

I think I read somewhere that he “stirred” in GW1, did he awaken years afterwards because there has been no sign of him yet

He kicked out all underground civilizations.
From the Wiki: “After its awakening, its minions, the destroyers, flooded the Depths of Tyria, crushing any hopes the asura had of returning to their natural home.”
“Primordus has remained underneath the surface since its awakening, clearing huge tracts of the underground regions, which forced more races, such as the skritt and murrellow, to flee from the Depths. As a result of its activities, the minions of Primordus can be found almost anywhere on the surface.1 Only the dredge remain underground, though their mines remain close to the surface. "
Better hope he walks into Scarlet’s Drill if you want to see him.
Thanks Mickey Frogeater.1470 for clearing that.
To be honest I hope after Mordremoth the next dragon is Kralk because Cantha & Elona exploration would be nice. Plus after playing GW1 and reading the books avenging Glint would be awesome
