You are paying 50 silver for a “quality maintenance oil station” to Evon’s right. I took me awhile to notice too.
Ahaaaaaaaa, what a sneaky kitten!
Next time I see him I will kick him right in the fahar…

Wait, so you can’t bring this station with you, and nobody else can use it?
Forget that! I’d rather just pay 17silver for a Potent Maintenance Oil instead. :P

Others can use it. I have yet to buy one, and I’ve used three.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
That explains a lot!
Same happened to me. Only later on did I see the little maintenance oil station and I though – “Wow! A free boost! Thank you Vigil guys!” Won’t buy it again though.

Oh, gee! I bought that ‘statue’ from Evon, and never noticed anything around. Silly me. I bought something else from someone else, too….but it was a lot cheaper. I must learn to look around carefully more often!

Open him as a merchant, and you can buy a recipe for it for Huntsman for 5 gold. Note: 425 skill required.
Sneaky way to make you waste gold :/
That’s a demo for what Evon Gnashblade sells you: Recipe: Maintenance Oil Station. Same for the other 2 stations in other camps.
For a while I thought it might have been some commemorative item that would show up in my home instance. I should have known to get suspicious when I see a charr smile at me like that.

You are buying a buff for the entire map, so the price is actually quite good, when divided by the number of people who can use it. Granted, the fact that you are paying for all of them means it doesn’t benefit you that much, but you know… being nice is… something… right?
Are we really surprised that Evon is being sneaky and taking our money without really explaining “the statue”?

sounds like pretty standard sales practice to me. considering “QuarterMaster Gnashblade” is being forced into giving all his good for free to the lion guard under Kiel’s orders he’s gonna be trying to make any kind of cash to soften the blow.
ANet, when I’m paying 50 silver, or 100 spores, I need to know what I’m going to be buying.
Does he actually take your money? Check it out, I don’t think he does.

I drank some used maintenance oil from my motorbike and all I got was a trip to the hospital. GW2 LIED TO ME!
Just like how it taught me that the best way to deal with unexploded ordnance is to pick it up. I now type with a straw attached to a headband.

Ha! Yep. All guild wars 2 politicians are corrupt and can’t be trusted, just like real life. Of course he’d try to “soften the blow” by stealing OUR money. He could’ve just sold us something useful instead, or at least told us exactly what this statue did. He’s just as corrupt as the Lion Guard.

Urmaug (the ogre of the Urmaug’s Secret JP) is the one who sells the Maintenance Oil station/statue at the refugee camp in Lornar’s Pass. It doesn’t look like the one Farzo posted though – I think it’s pillars of the bridge that went from the Grand Piazza to the fort.
