Hey all, we are doing some additional preparations for the build, it will be live in the afternoon (Seattle Time). So get your LA screenshots in while you can and face off against the Marionette one more time!

So sad I’m east coast so their afternoon is my evening and on Tuesdays I do errands with my husband and spend the evening with him … maybe he’ll be ok with me bailing on tonight’s movie … maaaaybe.

Let’s not rush them. You don’t want to play it now just to have it be bugged.

I get very few free afternoons, 6 hours from now it’s midnight. Oh well I suppose we’ll just have to miss the patch.

I’m upset now. Having very few evenings I thought I’ll get to enjoy at least some of the path.

They can’t please everyone. Anet is based in the USA on the Pacific side. They have GMT-8. You will still be able to enjoy it tomorrow evening with probably with a few hotfixes in-between.

A delay is a delay. I prefer that if they can fix a few bugs before release.

Why do you think they’re doing this to mess with European time zones? Do you expect them to work around the clock to please everyone in every time zone?

Be patient, it will be there when you wake up, if you can’t sleep without knowing then stay up late. Either way, they’re working on things during their daytime working hours and I would much rather they get the bugs worked out before going live with the patch.

I dont understand why do they give themselves impossible deadlines. Wouldnt it be better to calculate the release date with a week or more of a buffor time? Like, when you feel you need two weeks to get this job done, but you state out loud, that you need three? If you do it earlier – great, if you dont — no one would notice.

They could atleast let us read the patch notes while we wait :/

I know that nothing can be done, but I feel like it’s unfair to change the deadline so close to release. Last time I was pretty much unable to participate in the patch, because I was a week late, and all the mobs like Marionette and the worm were no longer attempted on my server even, so a few days might mean that you’ll miss pretty much all group content.

If that happens, you could always guest to a more active server. I agree though it’s pretty poo to announce it’s delayed on the day of release, let alone the expected hour of release. If tuesdays are so hard a deadline to meet due to only having monday to prepare after the weekend, why don’t they release on wednesday instead?

I was really psyched to be part of the first wave of the event, but I’m not anywhere near considering this a “failure” by ANet.

Perhaps dont do things last minute for once? I am pretty sure they had plenty of time to get it all working. then again, if i assumed they would do things far from last minute, that delay for the Edge of the Mists Release that turned from 2 hours into 9 hours wouldnt have happened, assuming that testing actually took place, which it should have since they were beta testing it with a fair amount of people. heh. Thanks for having me look forward to this patch all day long just to have that little 7 hours extra weight to be placed onto my back.

I remember years ago when the first gaming company introduced beta testing and stress testing by professionals..

Today: Stress testing and Beta are done by the players when the game goes live..

I could say the same thing about us East Coast NA players. Most of us are at work when they release the patch. So I don’t think theres a problem. They release it when they can/feel its ‘ready’.

I don’t get it, is it really hard to say “we’ll drop the patch WITHIN 6 hours”? I don’t know what’s time is in Seattle and I don’t really care.

So we europeans are again getting this update in the middle of the night like last one with wvw so that everyone who has a normal job and has to get up early will have no chance of playing it before tomorrow evening. “Great” -.-

I’ve better things to do than searching the internet “what they mean”.

ArenaNet finds something that can potentially break loads of stuff.
They have two choices:
1: Delay the release a few hours
2: Risk it and release it “on time”

No matter which of these choices they made people would be kittened. But lets be realistic here.
Is it not better to wait a couple of hours (or until tomorrow for us in Europe) than potentially not be able to play at all for several days due to issues?

I do imagine that they’re going trough a lot of stress right now. They probably won’t even have lunch, however if they could release it 2-3 hours from now it would help Europe greatly.

Forums make me sad sometimes. It’s only a short delay, hold the complaining until they delay something by a day, or week, or month.

It’s only delayed a couple of hours, and I’m sure Anet are working hard to get everything ready as soon as possible. They’re usually on time with their updates, so it’s obviously something unexpected came up. I’d rather wait a little longer than to be saddled with an update that has an issue, even though their afternoon is my midnight as well.

You guys should try playing Silkroad Online for a couple of years if you think Anet is doing a bad job.

Yeah sure, because they would gladly work at 2 A.M. to deploy the game for Europeans…

Since the game is deployed both for US and EU at the same time, they choose the best time frame for that. That being during THEIR working hours ( probably 8-9 A.M. to 5 P.M. PST). Sure they might work overtime to fix big bugs, but they try to deploy during their working hours.

Look at Europe/Asia based games if you want time zones closer to yours.

My god, people feel so entitled to everything. Until they change the core of the game and split US from EU deployment, it won’t happen.

Wow the amount of whine on this thread is insane, it’s actually baffling.

God forbid they pump out a bugged update and instead everyone runs to the forums complaining about it being bugged.

Give them a freaking chance to make sure the update is running properly, programming isn’t a walk in the park by the way…
