So the Synergetic Tempered Spinal Blades backslot skin is just amazing. I want it!
But I’m not super sure how to get it, and Dulfy doesn’t seem to have anything up just yet (given that the patch just hit and all). Google hasn’t been much help yet either.
So has anyone figured out how to craft any of these yet? Do you have to craft a basic one, then upgrade it somehow perhaps?
So far I have the Spinal Blade Pack Blueprint from combining the four pieces, and it reads:
Combine in the Mystic Forge with Blade Shards, Radiant Dust, and Iron Ingots to create a Spinal Blade Pack back item.
That sounds like it’s just the basic one… I’m not sure if I want to use 250 Iron Ingots and Piles of Radiant Dust when I could possibly be combining it with something else to make it glowy.
Any luck, Tyrians?

you have to make the basic one first (doesn’t require 250 iron/dust, only 50) then upgrade it with steel and the corresponding dust tier and blade shards, then upgrade again with mithril, dust, and more blade shards. Then upgrade again with orichalcum, dust, and even more blade shards.
then buy the ascended recipe from a vendor at a refugee camp
I haven’t got the ori upgrade yet(need more blade shards) or the ascended recipe, so I can’t tell you what materials the final step takes

do you need to have any specific crafting levels?

Once you craft the ascended piece, there are ascended items (Dynamic Assault Knight Power Core and Synergetic Assault Knight Power Core) which are combined with the Tempered Spinal Blades in the mystic forge to change its colour.
So to answer everybodys question, No, crafting the Tempered one will not set your colour to orange and be orange forever – the option to change it comes later.

Ah, I figured it would be something like that.
Is it 50 Blade Shards per tier as well?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

It eventually gets to 250 per tier, I think the exotic was 100. 250 for both ascended levels.

Wow, the Ascended level requires a Vision Crystal. I think I have better ways to spend my Empyreal Stars. >> That’s just a little excessive. They couldn’t let it be a Lesser Vision Crystal? =/

Ok, how much did you spend on the TP to get that far already?!

That’s the step I’m on, I mostly just used the materials I had in the bank. I think I might have spent a little over 2g for extra stuff on the TP.

You need tailoring, leatherworking, or armorsmithing at level 500 btw, and a vision crystal, in order to craft the ascended versions, it will tell you on the recipe on the vendor. Making it to exotic level doesn’t take much, unfortunately they saved the glowing versions for ascended only.
/sigh

I actually had the materials in my collections tab already. Still need a few empyreal fragments if I want to ascend it though.

The tailoring one costs about 300g compared to the 50g for the other two armor classes, just a heads up.

Really wishing I didn’t level tailoring…

Dulfy kinda has stuff all over the place~ After you combine it with gift will it have full ascended stats or do you need to shove more stuff into it (like the 15 ingots and watchwork mech) to upgrade it again to full stats like the Fractal back pieces require? …or is that one just for the color change?¿

Bah, I already have an ascended back piece, I just wanted the glowing skin but I’m not going to spend all that material and gold for it.

Aw man, the cool ones are ascended only? :\

Perhaps someone watching this thread can answer a question for me.
Blade back item is currently Account Bound.
It says that if I select stats then the back item becomes soulbound.
Q:
If I select stats on one version (ex. rare), do those lower stats get locked to it even if I upgrade it to a higher version (ex. exotic)? Does upgrading a soulbound one to a higher tier version in the mystic forge revert it to no stats and account bound again?

Really? Can anyone second this?

cost of ascended comes from the crafting professions.
specifically for the “gift of blades”
tailor is 15 bolts of damask
Leatherworker is 15 elonian leather
Armoursmithing is 15 deldrimor ingots.
so yes, tailor is incredibly expensive.
but that is for the ascended. I got mine to exotic level and well on my way to a second for nothing really, already had a bunch of the mats to use.

Ok hold on… I’m just coming back to the game and I’ve never even touched a crafting level higher than the previous cap so I don’t know what mats are what level but…
Is this Damask stuff the same level as the Deldrimor and Elonian leather? Because that doesn’t sound like a problem ANet can fix that cloth scraps and bolts are still stupid expensive compared to other mats. In fact I never understood why the hell they were. I just sold a handful of jute scraps for 10s. JUTE!
If I’m wrong, forgive me, but if not, this doesn’t sound like an easy fix since they actually did what they were’s supposed to in keeping things craftable for everyone like that.

the Elonian leather, Deldrimor steel, and Damask are all Ascended level crafting items.
benefit to it all is those items are available on the TP, however you will still need a crafting level of 500 to make the " gift of blades "
the cost comes in something to the tune of
damask is going for 15 gold last I saw,
Deldrimor steel is going for 3 per I think.
Elonian leather is going for 4 or so.
It is very obtainable by anyone. it just takes a bit of time. You can farm out for gold and level your crafting. You can do what I did and not spend a dime on my crafting and level it by what I found in the world just playing around and running dungeons.
Nuts and bolts. The exotic level piece is good and the stats are able to be selected. if nothing else it allows you to make a exotic back piece with your chosen stats and you can skin them if you don’t like the look.
If you want the Ascended version. its going to take some more work.
