But wait The found possession vendor is gone, so those Possessions I was saving til I had enough gold to buy the book to Gift of blades recipe for slightly cheaper so I can afford other stuff as I’m a casual gamer and don’t have but tons of gold laying around.

Anet, if you are pulling something, that was kind of implied would exist after an event, you should really notify people in game, or at least in the launcher notices.

As I am married, and have a job and a life and don’t have time to spend lots of time here, I come to the forums for 2 reasons only, find specific information, aka ask a question, or complain about a specific issue, Which I will check the post only a couple of times before I give up on it due that time thing. I am not going to read through 1000s of posts, or pop in to see if there is some note. I will often pull up the updates and links in the launcher, because it is right in front of me.

And yes before anyone says.. I know that the Gift of Blades recipe can be bought from Miyami for 5 gold versus the 3 from the possession vendor

Run Ascalonian Catacombs once and you will have the extra 2 gold which you will have pay to buy it from Miyani.

edit: you state they are “unobtainable”. they are not. it may just take longer for you to get the 2g needed to buy it. being a very casual gamer (how i read it) you should be used to the waiting.

Yeah, this is a ditto post. You were in long enough on what you knew was a non-recurring event to get heirlooms/possessions and never thought to ASK in map chat or check the forums to see if those things might not be available after the event? There were so many ways to figure that out and plan accordingly. The start of collecting ran nearly a month. If it was a gold issue, I cannot help you there. Best one can do is farm when you can get in, sell what you can when you can and bankroll for these events as well as ask for gem cards for presents from the fam/coworkers/whomever loves you enough to given them to you for birthdays/holidays/whatever. Since it was nearly a month some time dedicated to farming and selling may have gotten that cash part. But that part is no one’s responsibility but yours even if you are only a casual player.

2 thing should be realized from all the DITTO posts you are seeing.

1) while there are those that saw the post here on the forums about the vendors going away, Many people did not. Indicating that wasn’t a good notification strategy. It’s done, over, Finne’. But these posts convey a message to ANet.

2)ANet has a growing issue with event items, that needs to be addressed. This is just the latest example. Here you have 2 items that collected accumulate, value, as they can be directly traded for goods with a small amount of currency, sure the items are available elsewhere for currency or karma. You are encouraged to collect the items.
For trade or crafting.

The problem comes in with how Anet decides to end these collected items. I still have in my bank, stuff to make Mini’s from Wintersday event back in 2012, because as far as I know no one has definitively stated whether those items are coming back.

Most of the complaints isn’t that the vendors should never go away, but like previous events where the vendor stayed for a week or two after, so someone has leaway on when they can turn in items. Say someone had an unforseen internet outage for 3 days, or just forgot and were playing Wildstar or something. Previously it was in Notes and Launcher notes Hey this event is ending, Vendors are going away this patch day.

As for the title, That stemmed from several people asking in map chat how they were supposed to complete the ascended blades, because they did not know the recipe was available from Miyani. Several even were complaining that they dumped a bunch of Blade shards, because they didn’t know they were still useful.

TL:DR version…. A whole bunch of GW2 players do not read the forums. Anet needs to address event item handling in general. I’m a casual player but you don’t care and that’s OK

Well I agree with Sehson, I love the graphic’s and story content. In the past the vender has stayed up for a week or more for people like me that save all our " event tokens" to perhaps buy something big. That being said I do not log onto the forums every time there is a new event to see what may or may not happen to a particular vendor. I can understand the frustration.

THREE GOLD is tons to you? This is a troll post right? You coulda just ran the LOWEST LEVEL DUNGEON a couple times (oh no! 30 minutes total!) and poof! You got your gold!

We’re not talking about a legendary here, we’re talking about a gift recipe that amounts to a TINY fraction of the total cost of the craft it is actually used in! How are you going to afford the crystalline dust to get there? The iron, steel, mithril, and orichalcum ingots? The ascended materials? Leveling crafting?

Gone for the moment – make a habit of checking during other living story and special event vendors, though… they have a habit of making those last few widgets-of-last-month trade-able for whatever the widget of the week is.

Also – watch for the Bazaar to come back around. Those people have EVERYTHING in those baskets. One of ‘em had Wirt’s leg in there last time around!

Make a bookmark button for forums and/or main page… Click it once a week and see if there’s new news/announcements… done.

Being busy or having this so called “life” is no excuse for not doing something that literally takes 5 seconds.

i am a casual player too and i can usually play only during weekends but for some reason (i think i read it on forums and guildmates) i know this will end (the vendors being removed) so i spent all heirlooms.

And yes I do have a life.

Take a bite of realism pie.

Someone you know has a fantastic recipe for onion soup, but he will only sell it to you for $100. You work and scrape together every cent you can, just to buy the best onion soup recipe ever made.

Finally you have $100 and head to the man with the recipe, with the taste of onion soup on your tongue. Sadly, once you get there you find he died last week in a horrible accident.

Do you:
a) Lament the lost recipe forever, and move on.
b) Post your sympathies to the deceased man’s family on an online forum
c) Whine like a little girl about how you will never taste the best onion soup, and that you are outraged that someone could be gone without your permission.

The morale is, nothing is permanent. Make use of what you have while you still can.

Dont feel to bad about not making the back piece .. Though I managed to make and ascended version of one I had thousands of blade shards and tossed them only to read they may be useable……….for something…

The problem with posting on the forums is that you’ll get pounced on by anyone looking just to run someone else down to make their own bitter lives slightly better for a while.
Personally I think having to check the forums for in-game content is rather idiotic and lazy design. If its going to happen in-game, let people know in-game. I didn’t even know the forums existed for the first 9 months of play. Also – the ministories and backstories? should have been in-game, haven’t read them, never will. Why spend time browsing forums and interviews when it could quite easily have been explained in-game. Theres a lot of folks that say people only come to the forums to complain. Its more that the only people who decided to be vocal rather than just drop the game went looking for them.
You’re wanting to play the game to unwind, relax and have fun with friends, not have to search the weband research dates because the devs were too lazy to add a line to the merchants.

Actually, why don’t they make the recipe sellable like Light of Dwayna? Just wondering.

I agree Treebeard, in fact if you follow back most of the trolls posts that is all they do, get on the forums and bash the people that are trying to make the game a better play experience for all.
