2) Five times the size of Zhaitan? Do you even know how Zhaitan is? Five times his size is practically an entire zone. And you can bet that it’ll have overflow if it’s open world, irregardless simply due to server capacity.

I’d be surprised if we see an Elder Dragon before an expansion.

They’ll probably use the Living Story to provide content in-between major expansion releases.

We’ll see Scarlet provide lead-ups to the next dragon reveal.

Although, it will be interesting to see how the Living Story does after an expansion.

I mean, already… There’s plenty to do for new players.

A main complaint about the Living Story was that it distracts players from doing other things, since they want to participate in limited-time content.

It’d be vastly greater (in my mind) if they reserved the limited-time release for holidays…

That way we’d end up with more permanent content.

I don’t even care if it takes them additional time (like 2 months or more per release).

I’d just rather be able to do what I want when I want.

Problem is, that is a completely different model of Zhaitan… But someone on the lore forum did go through the trouble of getting the Zhaitan, Teq, and Glory of Tyria models and posting them on the lore forum. I think he stated that in these models an asura is roughly 4 feet tall (which based on the standards placed is roughly correct). With this in mind Zhaitan has a wingspan of 500 meters and a length of 506 meters, in comparison Tequatl has a wingspan of 188 meters and a length of 113 meters. So basically you want a dragon that has a wingspan of 2500 meters?!? You realize that is 1.5 miles wide?

I’m starting to get that vibe as well. I figure she’ll slip away while we battle her “Assault Knight”. But I’m all right with that; she’s actually starting to become better as a villain in my eyes. I don’t anticipate a fight with any ED’s until expansion time, but that drill of hers may very well annoy one into action.

There was another player who posted models of Zhaitan and some of the Dragon Champions taken from the gw2.dat. He also found what a portion of what was supposed to be Zhaitan’s original model; the old model’s head and left wing was already as big as the entire new Zhaitan model. Zhaitan was originally supposed to be much, MUCH bigger (the size he’s shown as in the original GW2 trailer), but for technical reasons, he had to be scaled down for the final in-game battle.

I expect that the final battle will go something like this:
[Events] DESTROY SCARLET’S 3 ASSAULT KNIGHTS!
(they’ll be 3 separate events, similar to the Wurms in Bloodtide Coast)

After those are destroyed, we may be presented with the option to join a 5-man “dungeon” by boarding an airship headed to the top of Scarlet’s drill.

We whittle away Scarlet’s HP alongside the Destiny’s Edge wannabes.

Then a final cut-scene as we “defeat” Scarlet in which one NPC has the option to kill her or save another NPC. Guess which they’ll choose.

Scarlet will teleport out saying something like “All this chaos has been fun and all, but I’ll leave you to deal with this mess.”

That is what I fully expect on Tuesday.

If I get something more satisfying, I’ll be greatly impressed.

But if they kill Scarlet, then no more invasion events…
(Does anyone still do those?)

I seriously doubt we’ll kill Scarlet.

If anything, the Scarlet encounter should have happened with the penultimate Living Story release…

Not the final one.

Too many loose ends. We still don’t know precisely what she’s drilling for.
She's drilling for oil to power her massive machines and to make a killing on the Black Lion Trading Post.

Granted, given how the story has gone so far… We may get some 5 minute diatribe about it from Scarlet as she escapes.

I would very much like for a dragon to burst out of the ground at the end of the Scarlet battle… But I don’t see that being extremely likely.

If they were adding a new dragon to the game, there’d have been much more build-up.

See: Taco. He was over-hyped.

The only thing we know about the next release is the Assault Knights (and that there’ll be 3 of them… one Red, one Blue, and one Green… each associated with a different Asuran college.)

Then again, I wasn’t quite expecting as much damage to Lion’s Arch as we’ve seen.

I don’t know if it’s going to be a Dragon, it sure as hell seems to be the case though, with the drill at LA and all that, but not as a final boss, and rather the beginning of season 2, which will be based on the fight against that dragon. That being said, we better get to kill Scarlet already, she wen’t from being a very interesting character, to an extremely boring character, and now a pathetic, non-believable character, making the whole LS experience really annoying. And God knows we do NOT need to see more of her. Again, she went from being a great secondary character, to an awful main villain, and she needs to go, NOW.

I think this LW season will end the same way most TV series end their season, on something of a cliff-hanger. We will defeat the Knights, capture Scarlett, and get a glimpse of what is under the drill. We may or may not be able to stop the drill, but we are likely unable to stop what Scarlett has set into motion.

Or…..Tyria is hollow and the drill pierces its shell, sending the planet deflating through space.

My point is that Kralky wasn’t a mountain range… The concept art he posted is just concept art, what we saw in game (in GW1) was much smaller. He was large, don’t get me wrong, but I wouldn’t call his GW1 model to be any larger than the model made for Zhaitan in GW2. I want to take a moment to note the size of the Glory of Tyria at the end, it it about 2/3 the size of Zhaitan, which minimizes how big he looks, but in and of itself it dwarfs Tequatl sized champions and other airships.

Tall is hard to do with the model, because Zhaitan has two different length hands, that said, as I posted, his wingspan is 1,640 feet and his body length is 1,660 feet.

EDIT: Original post I mentioned meters, not what their feet conversion would be. Still, head upright and feet down I think he might be comparable, although this height is something that the guy dealing with the model was unsure on.

From the wiki, on the size of Zhaitan. So 5 times would be quite large, but not an entire zone. Thinking of how much Tequatl takes up in its fight, Zhaitan would probably be that entire swamp or close to it, which isn’t a fifth of the map. I’d say it’s around 6 or 7% just from eyeballing the map. Regardless, something that size would be quite cool. But no overflows? Dear lord good luck with that many people.

Im glad u like my rips guys!

to Egon Vidar:
Im adding original Zhaitan from trailer in my next from-top render. I think you will be a bit surprised, as I was, about its size!
btw I totally agree on that its really shame that in game it doesnt look that great. While Arenanet artists team did excelent job on Zhaitans design, model and animations, its sadly hardly noticeble in game how awesome the dragon actually is. And if the fight wasnt that bad as it is now, it could be just freaking awesome boss. lets hope the next elder dragon will be presented in much better way in game (personally cant wait).

for Kalavier:
Tequatl measures:
body width – 22m
wingspan – 188 m
height (when on 4 legs from ground to the top) – 35 m
length (head to tail) – 113 m

Zhaitan:
wingspan – 500 m
height – a bit unmeasureable, since he has no legs and each hand is different
lenght – 506 m

Glory of Tyria:
wingspan – 262 m
height – 158 m
lenght – 370 m

Ladies and gentlemen, that enormous thing on the right is original Zhaitan from trailer:

For your Americans like myself, Zhaitan’s length of 506 meters is roughly 1660 feet. That’s 660 feet bigger than Kralkatorrik’s height. His wingspan is 1640 feet long – while Kralkatorrik’s is only described as blocking out the sun (I think 1640 would do that…).

And Zhaitan’s about 40 times the size of any champion.

Actually, the Dragonbrand was made by Kralk’s breath, so it can be smaller – or bigger – than his wingspan. I’m gonna say smaller though.

And fun fact: most open world loading screens in GW2 (not including LW-introduced onces) are done by Kekai Kotaki.

I would rather he actually be smaller. I just think a fight against such a huge enemy would be rather ‘impersonal’. What are we going to do, claw at his feet? Having a boss so huge might push Anet towards another turret segment. I would rather all the Elder Dragon’s be roughly Zhaitan’s size. He’s large enough.

In an earlier post I talked about a revamp to the Zhaitan fight. I think a similar style of fight would work well for all the Elder Dragons.
