Here’s a list of things that are just totally wrong with this living story content:

1. Achievements that encourage people to just stand in a safe spot and afk
2. Achievement text not clearly formulated, a la missing additional requirements for getting an achievement like not getting downed
3. Achievements that are just plainly bugged and only work if you abuse another bug
4. Obscure and unfair loot distribution
5. Starting boss fight with getting downed because there is no invulnerability timer after port
6. No purge of main server, resulting in people afk-botting to not get kicked

Feel free to add to it…

All those things are causing a lot of tension between players, a lot of frustration, name calling, hate… everything negative you usually shouldnt want to have in your community because it causes players to quit the game.

Fix it, asap, and dont make the same mistakes again. But wait… some of those things are actually things you were told before, but did again… so I guess there’s no hope left for GW2.

And sadly sometimes I feel like people from ANet that read our feedback are not the ones that are making the game itself… Like we say over and over and over the same things, and yet… there are the same problems hapenning. Like… I can see no logic in all of this, Im lost.

While I want to say that there are multiple development teams and that if there is a problem with one LS event that the next one won’t necessarily have it solved because a different group was handling it, this doesn’t work when the problem was four or six events ago and it’s still coming up.

There needs to be significantly more interoffice communication and transparency. Not necessarily with us, but certainly with each other so these things can actually be consistently fixed.

Or you can do same as we do in the breachmaker. In my server we spawn on purpose the 6 little blue scarlet holograms, we drag them near the door, make them kill the afkers and lose the achievements and we have a good laugh on teamspeak.

Leechers are not something that we like.

Seriously ? What’s the point of that kind of AP ? That LS was really good, and those kittenty AP just ruined it. Everybody complains about AP depending on an entire server performance => let’s kill the non looting knights in 6 minutes. And in addition, let’s make some AP that almost force people to stay in a corner and just don’t do nothing

And still not get the AP because of a bug or because they didn’t notice they happened to get hit by a thing moments before they even got into the event.

There should have been a lead in. Just like you have five minutes to go after Scarlet after finishing the holo there should be five minutes to go into the teleporter after finishing the knights. For five minutes nothing happens and Scarlet could have some kind of monologue. Then she activates the holo and everything goes down.

Thanks for underlining my last paragraph there.

So much hate… and why? Because of broken and not well thought out achievements.

Just left an overflow because people started “discussing” the order of Knight-kills which ended in severe name calling and people reporting others.

I also agree with your points, I am hoping devs will learn of this and previous Living Stories to create better designed content in the future.

Instead of having people avoid lasers for 10-20 minutes, they could have made achievements relating to actual “event” during the fights, such as an achievement relating to if the 3 different holograms are downed, and skipping having to fight the miniholograms that they split up into.

Also instead of these lackluster descriptions in the achievements, they could either make the description better, or not have a description and have it so that it is almost like a puzzle.

The biggest thing is definitely these selfish achievements. For god’s sake, stop putting in achievements that encourage people to afk, leech, or otherwise go against the interests of the group. Same thing happened with jungle wurm causing people to selfishly wurm hop to get achievements, so they obviously aren’t learning the lesson. Either that or it’s some kind of twisted social experiment to see if a group can succeed in the presence of leeches.

I can make a 100x better achievement just off the top of my head: kill all colored holograms before they split. Requires coordination and actually HELPS the group. Hell I can even come up with a name for it: “Chromatic Crusher”.

I have to agree with everything mentioned in this thread.

My beef is that everytime I get up to the Prime Hologram I have at most 9-10 people there. No way to succeed. The one time I did make it up and had enough people to actually complete the event I got disconnected and came back to a different platform…by myself.

At least have a minimum number allowed to enter a platform or have the Prime Hologram scale down if there are only a handful on the platform. For three days I have been trying and trying to even get into a platform with enough people to take down the Prime Hologram. To hell with the achievements, I just wanna see what is past that phase.

After three days of this I am very frustrated and have no urge or desire to even play the game.

Well, I too am tired of lame achieves. Specifically the dodging lamezers and lamezer scorch marks that is still there after it has left. Mainly due to instantly losing it every time I zone into the Breach w/e.

As far as achievements that rely on everyone else, I have given up on them. Open world anyone can join content w/ achievements and setting up personal overflows to actually get content done with like minded groups is just not working out for me.
Everyday I play this game, I miss traditional instanced raiding more and more. I even miss 8man parties from GW1.

I’m kind of over this event already. I have my cores/helm/title/heirloom items.

Has not gotten “better” it just became worse and the loot still isn’t forthcoming.

I have put screen after screenshot on the forums showing the afk who ruin a “scaled” event but Anet still to this day will NOT answer why they aren’t fixing this very impacting issue.

Add to the list: consistent crashes to desktop right as event is about to succeed.

I hate this LS patch.

The frustration from everything you mentioned—and not being able to, you know, PLAY—is palpable in chat.

Would love to see community Achievements with a good description.
To be honest, there is a clear progression in LS events and how they are created.. even Just now they updated it with a clear split in the Knight Event with a population counter, the split between dps and conditions is nice too..

That said the bug’s Dc’s and overflow issues are diminishing the enjoyment..

54 infractions and counting because a moderator doesn’t understand a joke when he/she sees it.

1 the achieves that encourage people not to play are badly thought out and are bad.

2 Anet has a history of being a bit secretive about how things work. I guess they want you to figure it out.

3 Bugs are bugs, it sucks but what are you going to do pay a monthly.

4. Loot has always been skimpy in this game but there is a big post saying there was too much loot form the knights. Nuts! Who you going to listen to. The only loot I’m interested in is Ascended or Dragonite ore. The rest is just a means to get the Ascended for my toons.

5. Actually if you fight the fight 3 at a time and kill them at the same time there is a period of grace before the holo fight but the holo fight starts X many minutes after the first knight falls. If your getting there in the middle of the fight you took too long to kill all the knights and came late to the party.

6.What main server. I don’t know when I was there last. And it doesn’t seem to matter I’ve won it at least twice now both on overflow they all are fine. You just gotta work together a bit.

However all that said I don’t find this as enjoyable as the Escape section. It was more fun. Had better rewards and less fighting amongst players about how they play.

I’ve got 3 of those cores and as far as I can see they are only cosmetic so who really cares. I don’t like the thing any way, I think it’s ugly so I just turn it off and don’t really care what color it is. It interferes with you hair and weapon on you back.

I have to admit, this was true for me as well. The only reason I keep returning to Lion’s Arch was for the 6 minute achievement and the Spider Queen one . . . which is another story.

After recent events, I’m wondering, “What the heck for?”

Exactly Ardenwolfe. Im even getting tired of the achievement points rush… Whereas it was fun in the beginning, now every two weeks I open achievement tab, skip to living story, starting reading… and think “awww… not again that crap”.

Most of the time living story achievements actually work AGAINST a smoothly running event. Best example right now. To get those two pesky achievement, you have to essentially either full afk leech, or, risk not getting it and be only half the time efficient – tops.

You cant really be angry with those that are just standing in a corner, because the real reason for that behaviour is Arenanets kittenty achievements.

One would think after more than a year, they would have figured out that achievements have to further contribution, and not work against it.

That “bug fix” yesterday is even more of a joke, because without a visible counter, people are just standing were the biggest zerg is, no matter what.
They should have added a player counter to the event area, making it easy to see the reason for spreading out to different knights.
But no. That would have been too much work….

And in addition to that, they broke the event display.
