This is fine and all but...
I have to agree. I like the new content but its not lasting. There is no permanent content. Once you get your loot and your achievements everyone just moves on.
Need some new dungeons and zones.
Not sure I agree about 2014 been a year of exciting mmo. ESO is meh, Wildstar is good but not sure how long it will hold peoples attention due to the fact its very much a cookie cutter mmo. All the other are not even worth a mention.
What they really need to do is open up more zones. Not one zone, but a whole bunch at once.
The whole excitement of new games coming out is the excitement of exploring an entirely new world and having a ton of new things to do for a long time. Or they could have the ENTIRE map changed by whats about to happen and open a new zone with that. So that there is enough content to last us all long enough to have living content be fresh above everything else that is fresh and new.
Another thing they could do is have a scavenger system like that in Rift where you searched for artifacts (anyone else who played rift would know the joy of seeing a little sparkly thing hidden in random places through out the entire world), and have the artifacts form part of legendary armour. It would keep people exploring the empty zones.
after 2 days spent on it I’m already done with it.
Better question is, how many hrs did you spend getting all the achievements? Anything over 10 hrs would be a lot of content for the average player to consume in 2 weeks.

No, the real question is how much time do I really want to put into this. After logon, it took me 35 minutes to kill Scarlet. Do I need to farm her 640 times to feel that I am getting something out of the LS, I killed her once and I’m done with the LS already I don’t care for farming or achievements.

Pretty much this. I was able to go to Scarlet thanks to the back piece. After that I did Watch Knights and Breachmaker. I have no desire to farm achievements. Overall I’m happy with the way LS ended, however this was still a very shallow patch.
Heavens Rage
Why open up new zones when the majority of the playerbase doesn’t even utilize some of the zones we have right now?
New zones are such a huge undertaking and the excitement level falls off pretty hard. I’d rather have Anet design the game to add more value/playtime among current maps than make new ones.
Thats impossible unless they can add new stuff to every zone every month.
I was saying to a guildie the other day, We NEED something more substantial than this LS stuff. ZERG this, ZERG that, Rinse and repeat gets boring very fast.

If you’ve killed her and you’ve got your Ascended back piece and helm skin, then you pretty much are done with this 2-week LS.
Personally I’ve put in 3 hours so far into Battle of LA and have yet to kill Scarlet or get my Ascended back-piece. I can foresee at least another 10hrs of playing before I accomplish both of those. I’m also an AP hunter, so even more hours will be spent trying to get those. That is nothing to scoff at for a 2-week update.
It comes down to this: for players that don’t care about achievements and just want to do the main story, it will end quick. For players who want to do all of the side stuff, it will be substantial.
It’s like playing Skyrim, you could actually finish Skyrim’s story line pretty quick (~8hrs), or you could spend time to get achievements and do side quests and play for 100hrs+. Depends how you play.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Unfortunately given the cost of content development you have a choice: heavy grind (this is what most MMOs do), or less grindy but shorter content. This is simply the sad fact of the matter, ANet cannot produce content as fast as players can consume it.
The thing you really have to look at is that as much as the LS was cool, it doesn’t add any value to the great game which is GW2… In the end after you are done grinding the LS you still end up doing stuff in the other part of the game where nothing has changed since the beginning. I am at the point where I did fractals and dungeons so many times I could close my eyes and run them… I don’t care if I don’t get 360 new zones to satisfy my hunger but the fact remains that since LS started, the main crust of this game is still old and boring at the moment and you have no choice to eat it because otherwise you would log in to afk…

I got all the achievements I am going to get within the first hour. So the answer to your question is “1”. A total of about 2 hours of content. How long did it take them to develop this? If it takes them months to develop content that only lasts hours, this game is headed in a very bad direction. I killed the knights, killed Scarlet, killed all her champions in LA. What is left to do? Farm the events? for what? no drops at all, not a thing, nothing, not even scrap of metal. Karma? No. Gold? No. Exp? No. Fun? No. I am completely disgusted with this whole update, bugs, AFK leechers, no loot, just sick and tired of it.

This is something to remember, you’ll enjoy it more, when you understand there’s only so much they can make in any given time frame.
The content itself (without the bugs) is not bad at all for 2 weeks.

For me personally, I dislike most of the zones. Whomever runs the art department and I have serious differences in taste I like Hoelbrak, Wayfarer, Queensdale, and Zephyr Sanctum. Thus, I’d appreciate more zones like them. Instead of being encouraged into zones that I already know and don’t like much.
Besides, I have a feeling the greater map areas were designed before launch.

I think it’s nice to log in and have some new content every two weeks. I don’t always like the content, but that’s just personal taste. It’s something new to try out and some of the LS updates were quite creative – I loved the Zephyr Sanctum and SAB (even though I’m really terrible at it).
Having more updates with new game mechanics and maps is a good way to keep people interested. Unfortunately a lot of the more recent updates seem to be quite similar – zerg, loot, zerg, loot. I like loot as much as the next person, but I’d like a little more variety.
Also, I’m a little annoyed with the inconsistency of content staying in the world. I never see anyone doing the toxic spore events and yet they are still all over Tyria. I assume that this is to allow people to harvest toxic spores. However, the Labyrinthine Cliffs disappeared when the Zephyr Sanctum departed taking away the only source of quartz available to new players. Even without the airship part of the map it was a beautiful place to hang out and practice sanctum sprint skills.
After this last patch, and the whole end Scarlett thing, I doubt if I will be spending much time doing it. This is all geared more for those players that need to have the best gear, do the most missions, do the added content to the hilt, etc…..I enjoy taking advantage of the added alliance drops, the occasional rare drop I get, the fun of the chaos in LA, and just enjoying the game. I really don’t need the best that is offered by these special events, as it sounds horribly bugged, and I don’t have the time to commit to it all, and frankly, I just enjoy playing the game for what it is.
If I was in my 20s-late 30s, in age, I would probably have the same complaints as a lot of the posters here do, and with good reason.
But being in my mid 50s, I just enjoy playing the game, getting some good downtime from my real life, and staying away from the bug infested areas of the game that will only frustrate me and take away from my enjoyment.
I think, overall, GW2 is a wonderful game. At least for me.
Have fun everyone!
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.
