Q:

Hey guys, we are trying desperatly on our server to get this done, but we only manage to kill the Knights under 9 mins, which is far from the goal.

Can any experienced people who have done it, share some ideas on how to.

What we are doing currently:

- We got around 40-45 at each
- Advising people to use Ice bows/FGS
- Stacking might all the time
- Getting the vigil buff, food buff, Scarlet potions
- Unkillable classes (aka. gurds and warriors) meleeing it

What are we doing wrong?Any tips?

Run banner of disc and elite banner on warriors.

Also could try do what TTS does and use mortars, seed turrets, embers and ogre pet whistle to boost the dps.

It’s mostly down to:

  • Stacking, so you got everyone at 20+ Might and permanent Fury.
  • FGS at all times, the more Eles the better (story of GW2…).
  • Ice Bows when the condition reflect breaks.
The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Don’t forget to have everyone get Vigil Valiance near the mystic forge. That increases DPS by ridiculous amounts.

It seems you have a severe lack of zerkers. All in your list should be enough to melt the knights in 5 minutes or less (in my experience 30 players is the optimal). However if everyone is running V/T/P or any other non-zerker gear, then you are going to have a very hard time.
And since asking for a change of gear in this game seems to be worst than spam insults in the chat, then summon a lot of embers, lots and lots of embers.

- Have more zerkers
- Have less upleveled

Or just guest Desolation like many does to get the achievement, resulting in a higher level of players with the right attitude (being 80, buffs, dps’er) on that server.

I can give you TTS’s strategy for it:

-Get everyone you can to have mortars, seed turrets, embers and ogre pet whistle to boost the dps, however only use these items at 75% or 25% health or the condi-phase, if you use them earlier the embers will reflect conditions back at themselves and kill themselves.

-Melee the bosses as much as you can. Instruct your zerg to melee as much as possible but pull off if they’re taking a lot of damage and their heal skill is recharging to use ranged until they’re ready again. Ideally you want as many people meleeing at once so they can Zerg res each other if they go down, however staying alive takes priority over melee damage.

-Keep everyone up as much as possible. That means warrior need to us war banner, nercos with signet of the undeath, etc.

-Get Vigil Valiance buff!!!! It provides a huge boost of DPS, use it!

-Zerkers is slightly overrated, keep in mind you actually have to tank a couple hits on this boss in melee. Zerker is only if your stuck in full range for some reason. That being said spec for as much damage as possible while being able to stay alive against the knights in melee. I personally run defensive traits with zerker on my Guardian.

-Split up as well as you can, you need as perfect of a split as possible, if you really want to go hardcore and you have the time, separate people into class groups and split them up by class making sure each class’s ability is spread evenly between groups.

-Stack might in the beginning of the fight, and try to stack might on the melee users on the knight as much as possible.

-As stated use ele weapons as much as possible, if the knight gets stuck on a wall/teleport you can FGS into that wall.

Other then that most of the fight comes down to individual player skill rather then strategy as the strategy of the fight boils down to “stay alive, melee, dodge orange circles, get buf”. It’s a tough achievement but it isn’t impossible if everyone the overflow is working together.

Thanks guys, we’ll try to implement these ideas, altough some seem near impossible with not a guild group. Still worth a shot.

Don’t give up. I’ve been on maps that didn’t do half of these tips and we’ve taken them down in 6. The knight’s scaling themselves might even be bugged because sometimes their health drops at a ridiculous rate all of a sudden. Do it enough times and it’s bound to go in your favor.

The scaling is most definitely bugged, I’ve observed the same phenomenon. I haven’t been able to run specific tests obviously, as I’d need 50 people willing to listen to me and a private instance, but from what I’ve seen it looks like if you reach a certain, specific number of players having the attunement (not one less and not one more), which is in between 40 and 50 from what I could detect, all of a sudden you’re able to inflict absurd amounts of damage to the knights’ health, in the range of 10-15% of their total health in under 10 seconds.

Lol, Guardians being unkillable. They have nearly 0 health and the knights hit for 1/3rd each hit. You can’t constantly melee them but if you do make sure you’ve got stability.

I tried 3 times yesterday with using some of the tips provided here (for which I am greatful).

Seems to me, it all comes down to horrible scaling. Out of 3 times, we managed to down the Green Knight twice within 6 mins (once around 5:30 and under 2 minutes). The joke is, that was the knight where we had the leats peole (around 35-40).

Conclusion: Tactics and strategies are nice, but seems like 90% of the fight depends on hitting the sweet spot.

Zerker, Zerker, and more Zerker. Dodge, dodge, dodge. How people can’t dodge this still, idk.

Announce and place a pot of curry butternut squash soup inside the mystic forge at about 0:45 after the hr. Tell people to come and get the vigil buff and eat. Also, that’s about the time when the guard event pops. Which makes it a great place to fill up your 25 stacks of bloodlust. Hopefully people won’t get overzealous and scale up the event where lvl 84’s spawn. Because they’ll drop people and there goes the buff and stacks.

Afterward, spread out to the Knights equally. Melee is not the best course of action because Melee will get you downed without question. Which the results of being downed is a significant lose in power! That’s 250 power from bloodlust and the vigil buff gone! I hold onto my stacks well into the holo fight. Noticed that’s why the food is precision and crit because we’ll have plenty of power from the two buffs.

Staff Ele’s…. you can’t have enough Staff ele’s for this fight. Beside blasting our own fire fields for might, we bring conjured weapons and healing. GS 30/30/-/-/10 Mantra Mesmer’s work very well too. Mesmer’s have of course Time Warp to use during the burn phase. What most overlook is that we have a great source of stability for this fight as well.

Yes, there are other consumables like the Ember’s and such. Though on JQ we’ve been getting under 6 minutes without them. So I don’t think they are needed to succeed, though can help.
