I am reading these posts about people not knowing that the vendors were going away. Why cant there be a town cryer stationed at the keep that tells the latest News. He could say lines like

“with search efforts complete lion gaurd announces they will cease accepting lost items”
“New merchant in vigils keep is looking for past relics”

Or even have the merchants say

“thank you, and please get me any other belongings you find before end of week since we will be reassigned to other duties.”

This way people who don’t visit the forums but pay attention to npc speak would also be informed.

Reminds me of the wonderful (not at all annoying) Consortium NPC that was added to announce Southsun Cove travel…

“CITIZENS!”

wasn’t around for that. Just trying to think of a way to inform players who don’t go to the forums to learn where what things are happening. Or a town message board in game. I only said a town cryer because that is what they used during the only-bathe-once-a-year middle ages.

They had Heralds in game. They just said what was going on with whatever the current release was. No one talked to them. With the updated LW UI, I believe the Heralds were considered obsolete and were quietly removed. It would have been nice to have LW UI for this release even in spite of its small size.

They should continue improving communication in-game even for stuff that’s not technically part of the story. But as a general rule, just assume the next release will remove everything from the previous one.
