Tricked into a dungeon!
It’s nice to get monthly dungeon credit by doing LS content.
I’m assuming the battle with Scarlet will be a legitimate 5-man dungeon on the airship.
My issue with the whole 5-man dungeon thing is that in GW1, most missions were 8-man.
And then the Elite missions in Cantha allowed up to 16.
5-man seems like an “outdated” (as you put it) concept from other MMOs.
This style of dungeon would actually be the 2nd after they introduced Tower of Nightmares. Since it was a large instanced zone ’n all. But agree, I enjoy this style much more.
It was also a nice surprise to get the monthly done so quickly after noticing these runs/raids counted towards dungeon completion.
While I do like the traditional 5-man dungeon (or 8 if so designed), I too am a fan of the LA event as a dungeon style. Unfortunately, it will be restricted to temporary LS events due to the sheer size of the groups required to complete them, but they’re a nice change of pace. I like the idea of a zone-wide strategy and coordination. It’s the PvE equivalent to WvW.

I don’t think mass zerging should be considered a dungeon. It doesn’t require the same level of team coordination, skill, and knowledge of game mechanics by the whole group.
Then again, there are many people who like the idea. That being said can we expect to see future updates for both types of players? It does seem like the zerging crew gets all the love.
I just hate the whole rigid outdated 5 man clusterpuppy trinity dungeon idea.
Which trinity is that? Do you mean the DPS-DPS-DPS one?
Kidding aside, I completely agree. Escape from Lion’s Arch was my favorite event since launch. Kudos to Anet!
Better a dungeon than a 60 man zerg fest where you just wail on an HP sponge for 10 minutes.

Guild Wars 2 Trinity: Vulnerability – Might – Fury, Trinity is Trinity
I love both kinds, really hope they make more and more of these living story updates and let them linger in Dungeon-form/Fractal-form aswell.
I’d hardly consider the zone-wide mass events of LA to be a “dungeon”, there’s not enough structure and direction.
Furthermore, there’s nothing “outdated” about 5 man dungeons, that would imply larger or smaller grouped numbers were somehow a new improvement to the format (they’re not, it’s just a different number and has been done before). 5 man is the “traditional” number, and is an old number. It’s constantly re-done because it’s what people have grown accustomed to and as such is the number groups have formed around, making it easier to migrate from one game to the next.
While the LA event was/is great, I’m not very interested in seeing them do more of it because it’s not something they can bring back later. Once this is over, we’ll never see it again. At least with dungeons they have a chance of coming back. Furthermore, it’s just more zerging.
Also, they’ve done content like this before (tower of nightmare for example), it’s kind of weird that the OP has a tone of “this format is something new!”

Oh if they made more content like Tower of Nighmares I’d be set; that was one of my top LSs they came out with.
I love the 5 man dungeon style, the mass zerging style is not fun at all to me, just saying.

Made my monthly achievement so much easier—1 day—thanks!!!!!
No, I love the big group. The 5 man with one snotty idiot that ruins the whole thing for everyone, I can and will live without. I left WoW for that very reason. It’s bread and butter was the holy 5 man, boring. I came here for the open dynamic world. And in the last LW we got it in spades. This new one is pretty good too. I enjoy it almost as much as the Escape but Escape was my favorite so far.

Do you even know what game you’re playing? =/
I wish this was a 5 man dungeon. Then the mechanics might actually mean something and make for an interesting fight instead of “run around spamming 1”.
