ANET’s idea of decentralizing the LA population to other cities will not work. Because they will just hang out at Vigil Keep. That is all. This is because all essential service will be moved there.

Some people will find it hard to hang out in their home city as some services are located a bit further away from the common hangout point as compared to when it is in LA.

Some services are also not available. Like the mystic toilet for example. Fractal portal is another example.

Burn LA to the ground? Big deal. Just move to Vigil Keep.

Who said they’re trying to decentralize LA? It’s just a really good target for Scarlet to attack.

I think the idea of getting more use out of the home cities was more player speculation than anything ArenaNet was actually trying to go for. I do think it would have been nice to get people to use their home cities more in the wake of LA’s destruction, but I also understand the reasoning for still wanting a central hub.

If they really wanted to get people out of a central hub and into the other cities, they’d move everything out of LA except for the Asura Gates.

The vigil keep won’t hold forever. Next stop: black citadel.

The interview on Massively states that “All essential services that are unique to Lion’s Arch will be redirected to Vigil Keep for the time being…” I think the key part of the phrase here is “for the time being”, which I am taking to mean at some point those services will moved elsewhere. My thought was that they should turn those services into a traveling “carnival” or what have you, that could then rotate through the racial cities on a schedule.

That way they can still keep the population somewhat centralized and it will also get a lot more use out of the racial cities. Which I think is a good thing. All the cities have so many cool little things in them that you may not have picked up on when you were running through grabbing POIs and vistas. Plus, they can throw LA into the rotation… after we get done fixing it.

I want the new LA to be build in Bloodtide Coast and it be populated with cozy Wurm Flesh houses.
